Vietnamese restaurant specializing in pho. Several locations.
Food: Good portioned noodle bowls with enough meat. Their subs are really yummy, although they tend to toast the buns a lil too long so it's too crispy.
Service: It's decent. They tend to try to stick as many people in there as possible by splitting up tables if they have to. I don't like how they do that without asking you sometimes. It's really kind of rude. If they ask, of course you say yes if you have enough room for yourself and your party, but it's not a very good impression if one of your tables is suddently yanked out and away from you or they move your table without any warning. Very rude indeed.
Ambiance: It's cleanish and I don't have much to say about it. It's like any other pho place that I've been to.
Overall: I like going here for the subs since they're only $3 and keeps you full for a few hours. Not likely to ever come back during their busy times though because of the servers' lack of manners but the food is definitely good enough for me to come back when it's not busy and service is decent.
Very cold night and went in for dinner to get something warming to eat. Went in with two other friends. We each ordered different pho meals. The waitress took our orders and entered it into the computer, but it was the male owner who served us. My friends got their meals but when he gave mine, I noticed it was not what I ordered.
He gave me a curry pho bowl, which was 100% not what I had ordered. Hate curry pho. When I brought this up with him, he yelled at me. "THIS IS WHAT YOU ORDERED!"
I explained it was not and he refused to listen, instead yelling at me that I did not know what I want to eat, then he yelled at the waitress to come and deal with me.
I did not enjoy my meal when it finally arrived because of this altercation.
Worse part is I had to pay and he was manning the payment counter. When I refused to give him a tip he jeered at me as I left the restaurant.
I will never return. Gives a sour taste to Vietnamese hospitality.
Co workers and I used to go here (North Road Location)a lot over the past 3-4 years during lunches because I work close by. I will now go once in a while, but not like we used to. Today i was very disappointed on today's lunch in which I had the Pork chops & egg with rice. What I was disappointed on was with the quality of the pork chops, mostly fat, and they used to give a couple of pieces but gave one hacked up piece of meat. Also the rice that came with it was not very fresh seemed to be it was a day old rice, very mushy and luke warm. I do not mind the prices that the are charging which it has gone up by as much as $2 but the quality has to come with it too I'm very reluctant to go back after the experience of late but unfortunately there are not too many Pho places close by but I'm thinking I may just have to do that if this continues.
This place service really really... SXXXs.
The waiter and waitress always have this angry face never serve you with a smile.
I used to go there pretty often but now, I don't. I don't think I'll ever go back there.
This place plainly got fed by Koreans who lives near the place. If you want a good pho there are plenty of other place that you can try.
Food is just ok but service is F'ed Up.
It's difficult to compare pho places as I find both the food, service, value and ambiance so simiilar among most places.
This one had lots of meat and noodles in the small pho. Both the steak and tendon were very tender. The noodles were slightly softer then I prefer them. The Thai basil and bean sprouts were very fresh. The one down side for me is that the garnish included lemon - my preference is for lime.
The broth was light and not greasy. I'm not sure this place chars their beef bones as long, as I prefer slightly more caramel flavours in the broth, but it is very delicately flavoured, the anise and cinnamon still present, served with lots of cilantro, and most importantly, lightly salted - I find too many places has overly salted broth.
The servers don't care about you. The food is okay, but there are definitely better vietnamese noodles elsewhere (especially the one on the Vancouver/Burnaby borderline - I've been trying to go there again, but I totally forgot where it was...).
Bad quality. Go to the Korean restuarant beside it instead.
Me and my wife are Pho lover, and usually we went to couple favor restaurant in VAN and Richmond. It's our first time there, and it's a very bad decision.
1, They serve un-cooked bean sprout, most other place will get it slight cooked by boil water.
2, They do not serve any basil until we ask for it.
3, My wife ordered "seafood rice noodle", unfortunately, we can easily tell the soup is made by cheap “instant noodles" flavoring pack, very very poor quality.
4, My beef rice noodle is just near warm, once I put in those raw been sprout, the soup is almost chill. The beef is over-cooked, not tender at all in anyway.
I feel funny they dare to put " the best vitnamese noodle house" on their sign, they should feel shame about it. If they put such a sign there, they should cook with their heart, respect the food and customers, instead of letting them feel be fooled.
We will NEVER go back, not a chance.
Was just here the other night and the service was solid. Not outstanding, and super friendly, but as we were a group of 7, she offered to do separate bills without us asking.
I've been to quite a few pho restaurants, but quality of ingredients, this is the best I've encountered so far. A small is $5 and change.
They have eye of round and it was super tender. Bean sprouts seemed fresh and wasn't all limp looking as at some other pho houses. Basil was bright green and crisp without a whole lot of bruising. Tasty broth.
Looking forward to being a regular!
i'm sorry but i've been to other places for pho, and they all suck no flavor! This place though..is awesome. its cheap and tasty. the waitress who never talks or smiles makes it even better, but who cares if she doesn't make small talk?! i want pho not a new friend. i go there all year round and always order #8.best chicken soup ever. my friend and i always go there, and when she went traveling for a year she called me and said how much she missed pho. when she got back we ate there almost everyday! even in 30 degree weather!
