Pasta Polo offers Italian and Mediterranean classics in a relaxed atmosphere.
This place tends to get extremely busy. However this can be viewed good or bad. If you want a dining experience come here when it's not so busy, meaning late or early and not during prime time. Then judge for yourself. Then you could avoid their shortcomings of previous reviews. The menu is very interesting and provides a diverse selection of pasta uncommonly found at a typical mainstream pasta establishment. Yes food quality can be questionable as on one occasion food preparation was clearly lacking as a foreign object was found in friends pasta. Eating in a busy restaurant surely won’t make you special but you'll walk away with a common interest in mind which is a Pasta Polo dining experience. The Bellini here is of great value, typically larger than ones found at Earls, etc. Overall good for rare or first time experience but be aware of again how busy it can get and the poor service during those periods...
I went to Pasta Polo 2 days ago for dinner and the service was horrible. We ordered the calamari first, then a pasta dish for my husband a steak for me and a kids pasta for my 11 month old daughter. After we ordered, they brought us our drinks...diet coke when we didn't want diet. She changed it but didn't apologize to us. We waited 30 mins and our appetizer still didn't come out. We inquired about it to our waitress then she disappeared. About 10 minutes later she came back with our calamari. This time blamming the kitchen for a mix up. The waitress gave us our bill. She didn't even ask if we wanted dessert, which we did. We orderd two desserts to go since it was getting late. She gave us our bill and left. Someone brought out our doggie bag with our dessert. We wanted to pay and was looking for a waitress and someone at the bar was yelling "hey, hey you!" I looked over at him and asked if he knew where my waitress was. He told me that she was busy and that he'll take the Visa.
I thought this was so rude! He basically yelled across the room to get my attention. Then telling me that my waitress was busy, when I saw her at the front talking to the hostess. The worst part of it was the dessert, 2 chocolate mousses, I ordered to go melted because they backed it on the bottom of the warm pasta, and they forgot to give me the kids dessert that came with the kids meal.
The food here was great if you like pasta. But I would not ever come here again!
Where do I begin? Well how bout with the bizarre cooler that greets you as you walk in. It had a droopy, sorry looking chocolate cake with about 15 cans of spray whipping cream. Hmmm. Guess we're not.ordering dessert tonight! We were excited to try out Pasta Polo, we're somewhat new to the area & had an Entertainment Book coupon. We'd definitely be going back if it was good. We were seated with our 1 year old with no where for him to sit. After the hostess abruptly walked away, I walked (with baby in tow) back to the pile of high chairs & lugged one over myself. The menu is gigantic which gave us pause. A kitchen can't handle such a huge amount of choices well. Our dishes sounded fine. When they came mine was a heaping pile of blah pasta. I mean Chef Boy R Dee is tastier. Not kidding! It came with the fattiest gross ribs I may have ever had. My hubby's steak reminded him of a tv dinner. The bathroom was ice cold, no heat. Our server really did the best she could but I didn't even eat my meal. Oh & there was really loud banging ????? coming out of the kitchen. I will NEVER eat here again. Our bill would have been over $50 without that coupon, Keg prices for absolute garbage. I created an account specifically to write this review. Ugh, you've been warned.
This is a fantastic restaurant ! My family and I have been loving this gem of a restaurant for many years now and I am perplexed at some of these reviews. Pasta Polo is a busy, popular spot. The staff are warm and welcoming, professional and attentive. The food is flavorful and everything is made fresh daily in house. The menu is huge so even the pickiest of eaters will find something they like. They even cater to allergies, ciliac options, vegetarian options and cater to substitutions. Now how many restaurants will do any of these?I dine out often so I can tell you not many restaurants cater to their customers needs like Pasta Polo Coquitlam does.Obviously I am not alone in my opinion as this is a very busy place and much loved in the community. The owner is very generous and sponsors numerous community events, schools, and non profit community services.Perhaps some of the previous reviewers do not dine out often or maybe they are simply out of their minds! Love this place!
Chicken Genoves w/ fettuccine is unbelievable. Calamari is good as well. Portions are big. Sometimes they overcook the pasta, especially the whole wheat/spinach.
Wine Wednesdays are great for cheap wines by the bottle
Service was quick, friendly.
Definitely better than Anducci, Pasta Polo is a solid family restaurant.
Well, I have to say I came on to this site in error looking for the telephone number for Pasts Polo and came across a few bad words about Pasta Polo and just had to register and say something myself. We have been going to Pasta Polo for a very long time, we have several friends that also go there. WE LOVE IT! They have always been friendly and very professional. The Food has always been more than acceptable and that is why when we married on March 31, 2007 we had our reception there, a party of 85.......still to this day I run into people that we have not seen since then that tell us how incredible the food and service was. We all had a really great time and the staff made it all possible. The owner went way about my expectations to please me, my husband and out guests. I would highly recommend bringing catered events here.........as well we are off to dinner tonight there and really looking forward to it.........for all of you with bad reviews I hope you will try again........Pasta Polo is aways busy, we have waited 20 minutes plus there to get a table at times......so it is quite obvious the only people that place reviews are the unhappy ones and by the looks of these lines ups at times there are way more people who are thrilled with little italian restraunt that goes above and beyond to please.
We have visited Pasta Polo at least 10 times since it opened.
I have mixed feelings...as some have been good and some have not. But I'm certainly glad I read some of the reviews here cuz it made up my mind NOT to go here for dinner tonight.
Do you think the owner has read these? I think he should. OMG, some of these writings are down right rude (meaning the staff there) I would not hold my tongue in any of these circumstances they need to know these things. YIKES!!!
We have eaten at Pasta Polo many times, and have yet to be disapointed by the food. I can attest to the fact that service is sometimes flaky, but generally we get good service, and the servers are always friendly. Only once can I recall an experience where our waiter never came around to our table, and now I try to avoid his section.
We really like the restaurant because you get very good food at reasonable prices in an ambience that is family-friendly. I think that its popularity speaks volumes about its food, and this popularity is probably a big reason for the inconsistent service. When I complained about that one server, they were very polite and sent me home with a takeaway dessert.
they should call themselves Mickalina's cause that is what it taseted like. The cold bread with salsa for starter made me hate this place with a passion. It is for people who want a huge protion of bad food and think that a cute girl in booty pants is forgivable for anything. Bad place all together
for a place that serves mainly pasta I was very impressed with the countless choices. The eggplant and scallop rose pasta were very good, and i was astounded by the amount of food (dishes approx $18). Everyone leaving had a take out box and a full stomach! Service was good even though everytime i have been there the place is packed. our server was very helpful and in fact, recommended all of our dishes- which were fantastic!
I've been to Pasta Polo a few times and I must say that the food is excellent! Another commenter said that the bread and salsa that they bring you isn't good but I like it when they bring free bread and dip as an appy included with your meals. Good Nibblin, or just don't fill up on bread if you aren't keen!
I find that this restaraunt can get VERY busy and I have felt rushed, which does take away from the enjoyment if you happen to go at a peak time, such as a weekend. Also as a result the service is a bit slow (servers) because it is so busy but they do a fair job considering. However, once you get your order in, they are fast in the kitchen so it won't take long after you order.
Large size portions and a vast menu. Don't just order spaghetti, try one of their delicious plates such as a "lemon asparagus" or "Prawn & Scallop Rose" pastas. Maybe bake it in a layer of mozzarella cheese!!!! Nice alcohol menu, a beer for 4 bucks, lots of wines, not bad! Or bottomless pop... overall a nice family restaraunt, also good for a couple alone, or a larger dinner party (B-days, etc).
Remember, can be busy, reservation recommended if larger group.
If you ask me the most important factor I want in a restaraunt is great quality of food at a reasonable price, and that's what I felt I got. I guess the secret's out and therefore the busyness!
Overall, a recommended establishment.
I've heard good things about this place, so after moving to the tri-cities area, we promptly headed over. What a disappointment. While the casual, family-friendly atmosphere was nice, the pasta was not. I had some kind of wheat pasta with alfredo sauce and my partner had red sauce with seafood. My alfredo sauce was not very appetizing. I get better sauce from the instance pouches at the grocery. Even my son, who never refuses pasta, didn't want to eat it - and he was starving. Now that's saying something! My partner's sauce was also off. It was on the bland side, and the seafood was not at all fresh. The shrimp had a funny aftertaste. We really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately did not.
