Went here with the better half and another couple on Saturday night. We ordered the spinach dip w/ nachoes and the calamari for our appies. The spinach dip was very good but not enough to outlast the amount of nachoes you get with it. The calamari was just ok. I thought it tasted bland. I had better. I ordered the original hamgurger that came with 2 sides. I had the caesar salad and the fries. The burger was decent size. I found the burger and the caesar salad tasted good. The fries with gravy was pretty tasty as well. My other half ordered the pull pork sandwich along with mixed greens (which was a carrot and some celeries) and fries. The dips were dill and ranch. The overall impression that I came out with is that this is a good pub restaurant. The decor was updated and the tvs were plentiful. I noticed it was more restaurant than pub as some "cougars" had their kids along with them. I had a good laugh as the "mom" was dressed for a night out on the town with their kids in towed. But this has no negative reflection on this establishment. Will return when ever in the neighbourhood.
Said to some friends - let's try someplace new. What a mistake.
The burger was dry and no sauce. You could have snapped it like a twig. The "home fries" , all 5 of them, were only such if they were brought from the cook's house in his suitcase. The salad was just ok but a misnomer, as 2 pieces of lettuce does not a salad make.
One of the guys is a coleslaw addict but didn't eat it because it was the worst he'd ever had. The beef dip was beef gristle.
Understand we're older guys, been around a while and don't complain. What's the point. Any cook, or anyone for that matter, can have an off day but this was bad.
Waitress was friendly but ineffective. Decor is so so.
Perhaps managment will use these and other comments to monitor their kitchen better, especially during these days of fiscal restraint.
Give them a chance if you like, however, be prepared.
My wife and I ate here first time this evening. It has a beautiful patio with a superb view. Problem is some inconsiderate people still think they smoke right next to you. Hello new by-law! Smokers: you have to be 30 feet away from entrance to patio.
We had the hot wings to start with and were awesome. Wife had pasta which was a bit overcooked. I had the quesadilla which was OK, a tad too dry I thought.
Great range of beers to wet your appetite. They have beer specials every day too. Had the Frog Nut Brown which was lovely.
Went into Original Joe's recently and had a great time. I was with a group of 5 and we had a blast. We shared appetizers, the wings and nachos are awesome. Calamari was really good too. One of my friends had the double dog - very good. I personally had the burger and I disagree with the comment above. It was very tasty and one of my new favorites. The staff are always great, I have been in a few times. Been to a few other restaurants in the area and the service/food doesn't compare. Its a nice place and I would definitely recommend it.
My girlfriend and I thought we'd give this place a try even though it is a restaurant chain and we usually avoid those types of places. I had the pulled pork sandwich with fries and their "honey slaw". The pork was tough and sinewy (I've had better) and the bun was cold. The fries were just okay. The coleslaw was the best thing on my plate and that's not saying much because it too was mediocre. My gal had the halibut wrap which was a little bit too fishy tasting and watery/messy. Her side dishes left a lot to be desired. The mango pasta salad had no actual mango in it and was bland. The Caesar salad was equally dismal. You could get better food at a shopping mall food court for half the price, do it. The service was friendly and adequate but the food needs to be good in order to bring people back. We will never go back.
This restaurant is alot better than i thought it'd be. The wings are great! Food overall was above average and the price was decent. Its basically pub food but better. Beer selection is great! Their brand beer was very good. Friendly staff and management. Its good to see some other bar other than John B, Woody's that has good food and service. Definately be back!!!
I have eaten at Joes about 4 times (always for lunch) and the experience has been nothing but consistently good. The food is always fresh and served hot. The menu is what I'd call "creative pub food" with a number of tasty originals. Pulled pork sandwich (often hard to find and rarely prepared very well) is outstanding. Salads, fish and chips ard wraps are great. The chef clearly has a concern for quality and flavour combinations. Service is friendly and timely - drink refills are offered without prompting. Booth seating and tables are comfortable and not jammed in. The outside deck/patio with valley views over the Fraser river and Port Mann Bridge will be a summer hit.
I booked a group of 30 for a small Christmas get-to-gether. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service was wonderful. Can't wait till summer to enjoy an evening meal on the covered balcony with a gorgeous view of Mount Baker.
My wife & I went here several times, and each time ordered something different. While not fine dining, the food was well prepared, tasty, servers were friendly & efficient & the kitchen was amenable to making substitutions.
Alas, when we went there last night, the doors were closed *OUT OF BUSINESS** Too bad. :^(
I've been to the restaurant about 4-5 times and so far, I've been happy. They have great pulled pork sandwich and bbq chicken pizza. These two are my favorites! Overall, they have tasty dishes and decently priced drinks. What's even better is that they have a great view of Mt Baker. I'd definitely recommend!
I have a severe gluten intolerance, and have seen other Original Joe's listed as gluten-free friendly. So, I asked the servers at this location about their procedures, and everything seemed good: I was told they had a separate spot on the grill for gluten-free items, and that they made sure everything was absolutely clean before using it for gluten-free items. Now, granted this does not mean they use entirely separate cookware for gluten-free meals, but I have been ok with that in the past.
First, my water glass tasted like beer - evidently their dishwasher is not good enough to get rid of old food or drinks.
Second - and this is the cincher - their gluten-sensitive menu said to order the side salad without cranberries, so I did. I was very clear with the waitress that the entire meal was to be gluten-free, and that I was very sensitive. She said the kitchen had been alerted. Half-way through my meal, I got to the bottom of my salad ... and found the cranberries.
I do not blame the waitress, as she was taken aback that I found cranberries in my salad. The fault evidently lies with the kitchen.
The kitchen was not careful enough to avoid placing a gluten-containing item (one which was noted on their menu to contain gluten) into a gluten-free meal. I don't trust any of their other procedures regarding gluten or other intolerances or food allergens, because of this.
I did react to the meal. I've been feeling ill ever since it, and expect to be ill for another 5 - 7 days, with lingering effects which peter off for the next 4 to 6 weeks.
This is not very good food, monster portion food but not great, first off, sandwiches are made with pressed meat rather than the real thing, you think that maybe they supplemented your dish with leftovers from someone elses plate...I don't know how they stay in business, some items are ok but mostly not....
