I work in the area and have started using Narita Sushi as our local sushi locale. The sushi is great and the staff are very friendly. Their prices are pretty much the same as everyone else's. I often call in an order and it's ready for pickup in 10 minutes. Granted, I would like to have a wider selection of more 'creative' sushi rolls, but if you're getting your regular sushi fare these guys are great.
This was our first time going to Narita Sushi and were pleasantly surprised.
We were greeted and seated promptly on our arrival. The place was clean and the decor was nice.
We ordered a Dynamite Combo, and a Chicken Donburi. The Dynamite Combo was very good. It had a Dynamite roll, a California roll, 2 Tuna nigiri, and 2 sockeye salmon nigiri. The Chicken Donburi was very good as well, with lots of chicken, egg and cabbage. The food quality was very good. Portions were pretty standard, not small, but not huge either.
Price wise, the prices were a little on the higher side, but not expensive.
Overall it was a good experience and we will go back again if in the neighbourhood.
Was going to see a movie at the SilverCity next door and wanted a quick bite before the show. This is a small Japanese restaurant, more like a cafe, that seats about 20 people. The hardwood floors were a nice touch, although the floor under our table was sticky, which turned me off. Decor is typical with Japanese beer posters and wall hangings, trying to make the restaurant look a little more authentic.
Our waitress was very nice and worked hard to ensure meals were served as quickly as possible. She was the sole waitress and the restaurant was packed, but still all the dishes were cleared away ASAP, tea was delivered and refilled--quick efficient service.
Food was pretty good, arrived quickly, and was well-presented. I had an Alaska roll and a California roll, and my partner had a dynamite roll, beef teriyaki roll, and Cali roll. I liked that the rolls were small with minimal, well-seasoned rice. Yum. They weren't spectacular and super fresh, but they were tasty and well-constructed.
I found the basic rolls (Cali, kappa) to be OK priced. The more 'exotic' rolls, like the Alaska roll, were a touch expensive at $7.50 each. It's a California roll with smoked salmon--come on.
If I were to come here for another movie, I would probably pop in for a quick bite.
Decided to try this small sushi restaurant because of some of the reviews that I had read recently. I have to say that I agree that the prices are decent and the service was great. I had the Spicy Combo and found the sushi to be fresh and tasty. Will be back for more tasting in the near future.
Nothing great here, no impressive potions like California Sushi or SushiTown, just typical low-quality sushi that you won't come back again to. You would only eat here for convenience if you just had to have sushi and nowhere else to go or because you're a first time visitor. Otherwise you won't want to come back.
Since we live in the area, we frequent this place fairly regularly. They have great lunch box and dinner box menus, and have no problem with our substitutions that we request. The food is always consistently good, and although it's not a high-end eatery, the service and the good keep us coming back.
The agedashi tofu and the ebi sunomono are our favourites, as well as the dynamite rolls, to name a few.
Excellent food for a casual bite to eat before a movie or a night out!
I love japanese food, so I've been to alot of jap restaurants. The food here wasn't terrible or fantastic, it was mediocre. Service was okay, although others that ordered after us got their food first. Dumpings weren't good. The Katsu roll and miso soup was good. Their chicken in both terriyaki and yakisoba dishes were good also. However, my only complaint would be they cheap out on the noodles in yakisoba by loading it up with alot of lettuce and bean sprouts. I went to this restaurant becuase I was hungry and in the area, besides that I wouldn't come back for more. Prices were good, but I would go to Sushi California on North Rd. Much better food and even cheaper prices ($20 for two) vs ($35 for two @ Narita Sushi).
I had passed this restaurant a couple of times going by Lougheed Highway. I thought it was just another so-called Japanese sushi-wannabe place. Boy was I wrong.
A few days ago, I passed by it again on the way back from Cloverdale. Hungry and having not had sushi for a long time, I decided to pay the restaurant a visit, not expecting much. The staff were courteous enough, and I noticed they spoke JAPANESE among each other! WOW! OK, now thats some serious indication that I was in for a treat!
I took a look at the menu, and saw some interesting combos which were below $10. The particular one I tried had three combinations - spicy tuna roll (6 pieces), spicy salmon roll (6 pieces), and spicy California roll (6 pieces). A total of 18 pieces for the mere price of somewhere around $7.50!
A little bit of waiting, my dish finally came, and WOW! A bite of the spicy tuna roll and I was in heaven! The spicy salmon roll and spicy California roll were both tasty as well. It was obvious the dishes were freshly prepared. In fact, they tasted so good I took my time through the rolls, trying to delay arriving at the last piece as much as possible. But I guess all good things had to come to an end. I was deliberating going for seconds, but finally decided not to overdo it, so I checked out. They served me a nice little orange dessert, and the bill came up to $8.43.
I left the place feeling very satisfied, although still somewhat in disbelief that I had actually discovered by chance some serious Japanese eatery here. The dish left me feeling not too hungry, and not too full... just right! ;) And you can bet I am looking forward to going back there again!
