Just had a wonderful time at this restaurant! Great food, great service and very reasonable prices. I read one of the reviews for the Greek Taverna, stating that the lamb was no good. Bull$#*% the lamb was delicious! The place was very busy on an early Friday night (always a good sign) I recommend that you reserve a table. The service was excellent even though the place was packed. I didn't received this good of service at the Boathouse, Port Moody and I paid more than twice as much for food that was half as good. I'll be going back again. Sincerely, Kevin.

The best in town

Recommended - Nice, clean restaurant, excellent food, great ambiance, absolutely gorgeous.

Food - very delicious, always very fresh, big portions.

My favourite dish is chicken santorini and my husband's favorite dish is lamb souvlaki. Also, we highly recommend their kalamari.

Personally, I think that this is the best Greek restaurant - if not overall restaurant - in town.

In general, it is very hard for us to change our orders because of the incredible taste and quality of the fantastic dishes mentioned above. However, we have also tried the chicken souvlaki and roast lamb, which were also amazing. Honestly, there are no words to explain their taste because "great" or "delicious" is simply not enough.

Our children (who are all adults now) and all the friends we have brought with us to the restaurant all share the same opinion as we do.

I'm 100% sure that My Greek Taverna at Brunette Ave in Coquitlam is one of the best in town and, as a result, we recommend it for anyone who likes good, prepared food, and a clean and wonderful atmosphere.

Service - is always attentive, very friendly.

Ambiance and value - the prices seem very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions they provide. The place is beautiful decorated and makes you feel like you are in a restaurant in Thessalloniki or Athens. Best of all, it's much cheaper than a flight!

Dark, but delicious

Been here twice for Greek food and it's always busy and packed. Expect a bit of a wait for your table, for your order to be taken and for the food to finally get there. The first time we came for a group party and while the food and portions were quite good, the service was sloppy and slow. Guess they weren't ready that night for such a big group. Our second visit was with family and food was still delicious and big portions. Service was still meh. A great neighborhood place with reasonable prices, but sometimes poor attitude from the servers and I didn't really like the uber dark lighting.

We brought my mother-in-law to this restaurant because we wanted to show off this place...after searching for soooo long to find a good greek restaurant we finally found one. Every time we have been to this place the service has been awesome. They're quick, very friendly and our food has never taken very long. Even though every single time we've gone there it's been super packed and busy. In relation to other Greek restaurants we've been to, this place is priced well and the portion sizes are huge. I can never finish my plate.

My family and I have dined at My Greek for many years and I have to say I have only been disappointed once and that was when they changed the recipe for the Kalimari. It is still good but not as good as three years ago. I also wish they would have a childrens menu as many families dine there. I look forward to our next meal very soon.

Delicious Greek Food @ Great Value

This is by far one of the BEST Greek restaurants we've ever been to in the lower mainland.
My fiance and I had a glass of wine and a pint of beer, calamari to start and we both shared a roast lamb plate and their chicken souvlaki dinner - all for under $50.
Their calamari is lightly battered and very flavourful. The roast lamb was falling off the bone and came in a VERY generous portion. The chicken souvlaki was moist, well seasoned and extremely large in size. The sides were also very generous and delicious (big greek salad and lots of rice).
The service was amazing as well! Their waitresses were attentive, polite and friendly - pretty much everything you'd want from a restaurant.

This place will now be our "go to" place whenever we have a craving for Greek food! Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Got here early on a Saturday night, just beat the rush. Line ups out the door half hour later.
I know why, the Food and Service is excellent. We sat down, servers came with water right away.
Took our orders, Lamb Souvlaki Beef Souvlaki, Calamari Red Wine. The servers are not fake or over friendly. Which is what a like. they just do a great job. Through out the meal they are quick to replace any used dishes and often topping up water. The calamari lightly battered with a nice crisp to it. I could not believe how tender the beef and lamb was. overall we had a great experience. The portions are huge.. I would love to see it even Bigger.. I am greedy! ..Highly recommended

Best Greek Food in Coquitlam

There's a reason why there's almost always a wait to get into this restaurant. Quite simply, they offer the best value for the best Greek food in town. The portions are huge and delicious. The last few times we've been in there, we've ordered the platter for two which includes just about every Greek delicacy you can imagine. They leave nothing out. My husband and I can really pack it away but even we couldn't finish all that they gave us so we had lunch the next day. The calamari is particularly yummy.

The only thing I recommend is calling very early for reservations as they only accept a certain number of reservations on a Friday and Saturday night.

This restaurant provides incredible value. I prefer this place to Stepho's. The fact that I don't have to endure a big line up is attractive. Also, the food is very good here. The service maybe somewhat lacking when it gets busy but that can happen in any restaurant.

I've enjoyed my meals here and would recommend this restaurant.

If you're in the neighborhood and hungry for some good grub, you have to give Mr. Greek a try. Warning, it does get busy on the weekends or either make reservations or go early. Huge portions for a fair price. Souvlaki is normally about $11 and I don't think anything on the menu is more than $16. One of my favorite Greek restaurants for sure.

The food was great, it was my first experience with Greek food and it definitely made me want more. The service was good too, we barely had to wait and our server was courteous and pleasant. I wasn't the one paying for this dinner, so I can't really comment on the value, but I don't think it was too outrageous. The ambiance! This restaurant was beautifully decorated, when I walked in I didn't feel like I was in Mallairdville, I felt like I had stepped through the wardrobe and was now in tiny Greek world. All through the meal there was something interesting to look at and it was just very beautiful.

Food Was Way Too Salty, But Otherwise a Decent Experience

Submitted Friday, September 10, 2010 - 10:31pm [Dine in]

My gf and I came here tonight which was a Friday, so it was fairly busy at 7pm. After about a 15 minute wait, we were seated at a small table that was between two other couples. It felt like we were a little TOO close to the adjacent tables, it was a bit of a tight squeeze there. Could hear almost everything they were saying, I'd rather have a bit more privacy when I dine out with my lady. The restaurant was incredibly loud with conversation, which some people like (adds to ambience?). It was a bit too loud for my liking.

The host and waitress were very friendly and prompt, it seemed like all their waitresses were smiling and friendly actually. I ordered the lamb chops and my gf ordered the chicken souvlaki. The food came in about 10 minutes, pretty quick for such a busy dinner time. The portions looked pretty big, not bad for 12.95 and 15.95 respectively.

Unfortunately, I couldn't really enjoy my meal because my lamb chops were WAAAY too salty. I have greek food regularly, and this was by far the saltiest greek, actually ANY cuisine food I can remember eating. I kept having to drink my ice water to satiate my thirst. The huge potato was fairly tasty, but again, too salty. I had a piece of my gf's chicken, and it was too dry and salty for my liking (portions again, were generous).

Because of how salty my meal was, I was and still am thirsty all evening as I type this. Still, my experience could've just been an anomaly and I would try this restaurant again if I was invited by others, but it would not be my first choice.

I live in Vancouver but my family prefers to drive to Coquitlam to eat at our favorite Greek restaurant, My Greek Taverna. The food is absolutely delicious! Everything on the plate is wonderful. In particular we love the roast lamb, calamari and ek mek. The portions are large and the price is very affordable. We order keeping in mind the portion size and still manage to take home leftovers everytime. There is plenty of parking in the front and in the back. The restaurant is busy with patrons dining in and picking up takeout and we find its best if we get there for an early dinner. The service is great, very friendly and efficient servers. The restaurant is clean, the ambiance is nice and the washroom are large and clean. I would highly recommend My Greek Taverna, try it and you will return over and over again.

We recently moved near the Maillardville area and a co-worker recommended My Greek Restaurant. This was our 2nd attempt at eating here, as they were oddly closed on a Saturday afternoon at 12 when we first tried.

As we entered we were promptly greeted by a server. She gave us a quick once over before asking how many of us there were. Very odd. She plunked down our menus and we had a seat.

The menu was the generic Greek fare. Moussaka, Souvlaki, Calamari, Roast Lamb, etc. Prices were reasonable for dinner, with the entree's averaging around $14.95 each.

Our waitress returned and asked us what we'd like. I was a little turned off that she crossed her arms and stared at us when we ordered. She seemed a little less friendly with us, but not other customers. Anyways, I ordered the Calamari Dinner, and my wife ordered the Roast Lamb.

While we waited, we found it hard to chat with the loud music in the background. As the restaurant got more full, we had to yell to each other over the noise. In addition to the very dark lighting, it wasn't the most pleasant ambiance.

When the food arrived we were pleasantly surprised at the large portions. The food was delicious. The calamari was crisp and lightly battered, and the sides were well done too. The roast lamb was very large and moist without being greasy. We were only able to get through about half our plates and had to take the rest home.

Again oddly our waitress never came back to check if everything was ok with the food. All the while, the music was getting louder and louder. To their credit, the other waitresses were much more friendly and helpful and continually topped up our water and checked in on us. Our waitress (Ivanka I think) was obviously the head waitress and for some unknown reason disliked us as she didn't behave the same to other patrons. She seemed a little more friendly when bringing us the bill, perhaps because it was tip time. We had another pleasant surprise when the bill arrived as my wife's Roast Lamb dinner was on special for the night for $12.95.

Pros: The food quality and the portions were excellent, and the price was very reasonable.

Cons: The poor attitude from the 1 server, the dark lighting, and the loud noise factor.

Overall we'll surely give them a try again. The food is definitely worth it!

I first came here when my friends took me here and it was still called Mr Greek. I've been here a few times after that, I usually order the roast lamb and maybe some humus to start. The food is pretty decent, nothing special and the service is pretty neutral. The ambiance is typical of a lot of greek restaurants.

First off, the restaurant is called My Greek tavern not Mr. Greek.
Me and the gang stopped here for dinner before hitting a movie at silver city, it's a handy spot for this and it's one of the main reasons we chose this place as well as the reviews here. I have to concur with other reviews that the roast lamb is great, a HUGE portion along with well prepared sides of potato, Greek salad and rice w/pita & taziki. It is waaaay better than Stephos on Davie and even slightly better than Sympaticos on 4th!!
The calamari appy was not over battered or greasy and the olive & feta appy was generous to the extreme. We ended up taking almost half the dish home! The roast lamb at $11.95 has to be one of the best values in town. I would definitely return, especially as a pre-movie spot as the service was quick and friendly.

A buddy and I arrived close to closing time but the waitress assured us there is plenty of time and we can enjoy our meal in peace. The decor was typical of a Greek Restaurant, nice but not over done.

Order the roast lamb special and coffee, my buddy ordered the chicken souvlaki. Our food arrived with my first coffee refill. Now that’s speed! The roast lamb was lean; the meat (without bones) had that fresh oven aroma. Wow… the rice, Greek salad with plenty feta cheese and lamb were served all in large proportions on a great big plate.

Some pieta bread was thrown in and we tuck into the food. After we were satiated, I still had enough for lunch tomorrow. Best roast lamb I’ve had in a while. Definitely be back and highly recommended.

i've been going for about 6 years now. their dinner specials for $11 can't be beat. i always have the roast lamb, which is tender and cuts with a fork. rice is also excellent. service is always attentive, but can be a bit harry when it is busy, usually fridays and saturdays...line ups can be long, but worth the wait.

We decided to celebrate my brother's birthday dinner here today after reading these reviews. We were all very impressed by the quality and quantity of food together with the impeccable service. We all started off with calamari appetizers which were melt in your mouth freshness. The tzatziki was wonderful too. The plate could have been a dinner in itself. Three of us ordered roast lamb which, upon first bite, was startling in its flavour and freshness. There was no way I was going to get through all that food. Potatoes were perfect with a burst of lemon aftertaste, salad was good too. The kids plates were plentiful and the chicken brochette looked amazing as well. The waitress brought over a piece of cake with a candle and we all sang happy birthday. No one rushed us even though the restaurant was filling up. We can't wait to go back again and there's no need to ever return to Stepho's now.
