Joey's Coquitlam combines home-style Mediterranean cuisine with new and exotic tastes from the Orient.
I went to Joey's on a Friday night for the first time. The service from the get go was amazing. We were greeted by the host, had the door opened for us. I was blown away.
We started off with the humous and pita. The pitas are made fresh on site and made to order. It was served with a size of brushetta. I didn't know something so simple could taste so amazing but this place was amazing.
As an entree we had the 9oz serloin and shared that with my girlfriend. The steak was perfectly booked and seared in all the good stuff inside. I had a side of the deep friend mash potatoes - I don't know who came up with that but he's a genious! And a size of mushrooms in garlic butter. The entree was extremely well done and cooked to prefection.
I don't know why people are saying this place is pricey - it's not. A dinner for one person cost us 30 dollars. Compared to other places thats decent for a steak dinner of this calibre.
Lastly, the waitress was hot and a pleasure. The place has amazing decore and I would definetly come back over and over again!
I've been going to Joey's in Coquitlam for quite some time now and no complaints yet. This is an all-around restaurant that has everything, quality food, quality service, and quality ambiance. Let's start with the food.
I'm always a fan of their baby back ribs. i think it is the best in town. Their barbeque sauce is exceptional and the ribs are well-cooked that the meat just falls of the bone. I also recommend their calamari and tuna tacos. Actually, all of their appetizers are quite tasty. My friends have told me that their steaks are quite exceptional as well. Desserts are also honorable mention...try the choclate souffle or apple pie.
Service wise, also good. The waitresses are polite, professional, and courteous. I do discourage going there on weekends though as they don't accept reservations and the lineups can easily exceed one hour, especially for large parties.
Ambience...excellent. This is the kind of place where you can take your significant dinner for a romantic dinner and not be embarassed.
Price-wise, it is on the high-end but definitely worth it for the food. It's not fine dining but a good meal (appie, entree, and dessert) should run in the $50 range. I normally just ordered the full rack of ribs and be stuffed at the end of the meal. The damage, $30. Quite reasonable for the quality of food i'm getting. I definitely recommend this restaurant to others. But then again, I don't think there's that many people who have not heard of Joey's.
The last time I was at this restaurant was over 2 years ago. I came back to find the place all renovated with gigantic price increases. I did not mind that the price was increased but I did mind that the food was not as delicious as it once was. At one point I remember the restaurant having on of the best pastas and sandwiches in town with lots of other origianl dishes, but when I went back the last time it was so generic, like earl's and moxies. They had the burgars, chicken and all the usual nothing to make your mouth water and want more. I had the chicken. As mentioned the portion was good a but it was very dry. After a few bites I lost my interest in the food completly. The food also had to much sodium in it. I tried my friends dish and it was also the same. We ended up packing our food for take-out. The only good part was the spacious table with comfy chairs.
I myself live in Coquitlam and live quite near Joey Tomato's Mediterranean Grill, and I have to say that when I haven't gone there for awhile, I actually begin to crave their food.
My favorite dish there to have is the Full Rack of Ribs and they are quite good a changing up the side order, since I usually like to request roasted potatoes, which are awesome. The food there is really great and the atmosphere goes well with what they offer on the menu.
I have to say that I love the lower lounge area, especially by the fire, since it reminds me of being in a cabin. In the summer the patio is my favorite place to sit, with a slushy long island ice tea, oh and btw, Joeys is the only restaurant I know of that makes a slushy long island ice tea. Anyways, i have to say that they have an awesome aray of food and drink options and their desserts well, so good. I have to say I love the New York style cheesecake, since I went to New York myself, that is the closest i've come to getting the same texture as I did as when I had cheesecake in New York.
So, I must say everything about Joeys is good, although it is a bit pricy, but some of the items are well worth the price. My brother is obsessed with Joeys and raves about it to everybody, and he's a picky eater, (i guess having good looking staff helps, too?).
I totally recommend Joeys to anyone who comes to Coquitlam, just make sure you get to the restaurant early on Friday nights, since it is the end of the week, and saturdays tend to be busy too, but either than that joeys is a fun place to hang out with friends or to have a date. My nieces enjoy joeys alot, and for 9 and 11 year olds to say that it's pretty cool since they are the most pickiest eaters in the world....
Anyways, I totally enjoy Joeys and I have yet to try the Broadway location, but I'm sure that it is just as good.
Totally recommend joeys if you haven't tried it yet!!!!
I think that Joey's is a great restaurant, I live in coquitlam and it is hard to find places like this that have great food, and nice looking wait staff that can actually wait on you. The food is a little more expensive than other places but you pay for what you get. I suggest the half Roasted chicken, it comes with Sun Dried Tomato Gravy that is awesome, I also like the Ahi Tuna taco's, but i would have to say that the Ginger Beef is my favorite. It comes as an apetizer but i ask for some lettuce to wrap it in, the lettuce is free and is cold and fresh and makes for a good low carb meal, beware of the spice, it can be a hot one if you eat the peppers. The decor is nice, and has a lounge if you just want to have an appy or a really nice dinning area if your looking for the date thing.
Pretty good food and I love the decor!
However I'm so sick of these trendy Cactus Club type restaurants and how they hire a kabillion people but the service still sucks?!
First there is like three girls greeting you at the door, one girl to check your names off the reso list and one girl to carry the menus and another to take you to your table, it is so ridiculous. Then one to take your order, one to bring you your drinks, a different one to run your food. With having so many god damn people working your food still takes an hour, and another half hour to get your bill. So silly.
I love going to Joey's. The food is always fresh and delicious. The service is always excellent. Never a bad experience here. I have nothing but positive things to say about Joey's. The big glass thing in the front always amazes me... even though I've seen it many times. The bellini's are always a good choice, and the Viva Salad is awesome. Just awesome. Going here to meet friends for dinner and drinks is always something I look forward to.
parking is limited! Decor is nice. We had a wait for a table and was offerd a free sample of butter chicken to try. We had a tomatoe ,artichoke dip to start, it was alright, nothing geat, I would not get it again. For dinner I had the ribs, again they were alright but nothing to rave about. My husband had a salad and didn't care for it. Our waitress was young and pleasant, she did a good job. I would go again to this restaurant but order something different to try. Over all it is pretty good
I have been to Joey Tomatoe's too many times to count. Their steaks are amazing, pizzas taste great and you must have the apple pie. This pie is handmade and comes with maple walnut ice cream and caramel sauce drizzled on top... Heavenly!!!
Today was my friend's birthday. His girlfriend had made reservations, yet as the party started showing up they said they had no record of the reservation. They told us it would be a two hour wait for our party of ten. After we went back in to complain they claimed we had arrived late and this was the reason we no longer had a reservation. This wasn't true, as a friend of ours was there right at 6:30 and was greeted by a baffled server who said they don't take reservations on a Friday night. They didn't offer us any sort of apology or compensation. It wasn't until my friend called up and yelled at them in sheer frustration that they were suddenly magically able to give us a table.
As we were waiting for our table to be set up they offered us drinks. The drinks turned out to not be complimentary either. Horrible, horrible customer service. When we finally sat down and ordered appetizers they forgot an appetizer and it ended up arriving after most people had already finished theirs. And to top it off they gave my friend chop sticks to eat his salad with. Who does that?
Another friend had to wait twenty minutes for his drink, they finally remembered and offered an apology, but he was still charged for the drink. My food arrived cold, I paid $12 for a chicken souvlaki and fries that I could've picked up at Solav at Metrotown for $8 and it would've tasted a thousand times better, and more importantly would've arrived warm, by this time I was too exhausted to complain. I just wanted to leave.
The server was polite, but everything else was a nightmare. Definitely do not recommend.
I thought I should write about Joey's Coquitlam after a weeks worth of poor restaurants and even worse service. Joey's coq is warm, comfortable and not too loud. Somedays you have to wait a long time but it's worth. The service is always spot on, and the food is fairly quick. Sure I've had issues there with mix ups, but they are dealt with quickly and fairly. I go back again and again, and everytime I eat out at another restaurant I wonder why I didn't go to Joey's instead.
Went with friends to celebrate a b-day. Had to wait awhile as it was very busy on the weekend but overall service was decent. Impressed with the variety of menu items. Deviated from just their famous pastas and pizzas and had an Asian curry dish - Malaysian I think. For a western mainstream place, it tasted pretty good I guess. Drinks were good and we celebrated all night. Been to the other Joey locations in Vancouver but worth trying out if you're in the burbs. Would go back again.
Joey's is our usual hang out for gal's nite out. No matter where we go for dinner, we always end up at Joey's for dessert but most of the time we would end up there for dinner anyways.
We travel from Langley and it seems each time we get there, the wait becomes longer and it's becoming a put off for us especially during game nights.
I understand you don't take reservations, but exceptions should be made for parties of 8 or more during weekends.
As for the food, each time we go there, there's always inconsistencies with the portions.
Joey's is a great place to go for a casual drink and dinner with friends. The service is good and the food is good but it lacks that "wow" factor that pushes a restaurant into the category where you would go there for a special occasion or while on an important date. I definitely recommend their pitchers of bellinis - you get about 5 drinks out of it and it only costs $14!
Note: To those who said it's just like earls - that isn't an accident: Joey's is 100% owned by the Fullers (the family that owns earls).
We went to this restaurant a couple of weeks ago and it was truly a lot of fun. The food was tasty and well prepared and our server had a huge personality that was just perfect for our group. I did think that it was a little expensive.
