Joey's Coquitlam combines home-style Mediterranean cuisine with new and exotic tastes from the Orient.
Parking was a pig. There is a complimentary valet, but I don't like other people driving my truck. The place inside is massive. Service was ok, we had a table that was very private so maybe it was out of the way for the waitress. I had the Panang Curry (sp?) which was delicious. $59 for three with one dessert but without booze or appi's which I thought was reasonable. I'd go again.
Had dinner at Joey's for the first time last night for a friends birthday. I had the Steak & Prawns, steak portion was a bit smaller than what you might expect for the price, but other than that, the dish was very good. Tried the famed apple pie & it did live up to the hype & then some; Best I've ever tasted.
Everything about this restaurant is very pretty. From the amazing glass display in the front, to the food, the bar and of course all the good looking servers.
I've visited this Joeys location several times and most have been very enjoyable experiences. On weekends it gets really busy but I guess they are prepared for that as they have a large waiting area. I like how they occasionally go around with samples of food for you to taste while you're waiting.
Don't get the lobster ravioli as it tastes like shoe rubber. But definitely pair whatever you have with the crispy mashed potatoes and have the apple pie for dessert
Been there about 4 times now. I remember the first time I went in, I was impressed by the interior and the atmosphere. It's such a great place to come with lovers or friends for gatherings.
The food was awesome. I remember the satay skewers and seafood pastas were so yummy. I was impressed by the tasty food as well. I was really happy with the quality of the food.
Service, nice friendly and attentive! They got some hot waitresses too!
I would definitely go back and definitely recommend to my friends! It's such a great place to go. And the parking is easy here too! (unlike in vancouver, here's free and plenty)
This place is really cool. The food was really high standard and they definitely satisfied my taste bud. The calamari and the lobster ravioli.... hmmm.... so good. The portion of the loster ravioli was a bit small, but in a high end restaurant like this, that was ok. The service was professional so totally no complaining. The only thing is just the price was just a bit high for me, but definitely worth it for such delicious food.
We were supposed to go to White Spot for lunch on a saturday, however, my friend took the wrong turn, and we ended up at Joey's. Which was ok, because as we dined, more and more families were coming in with their toddlers (my friends say that white spot is always packed on the weekends and this was probably their back up plan).
Having said that, the staff was very friendly, but dissappeared for a good amount of time when we finished out meal and wanted to pay. we had to go hunt them down because our toddlers were getting antsy after their meals.
I had ordered a beef dip with fries. The beef tasted old and flavourless and lacked seasoning. It came on a ciabatta bread, which was too big for the amount of beef they gave. I would definatly not order it again.
My husband ordered their california chicken burger, a MUCH better choice. it was delicious and had the right kick with the spicy mayo and arugula.
And we ordered a cream of mushroom soup (chantrelle mushroom) for our 21 month old son to share with his 16 months old friend, whom both loved it. It was definatly homemade and very tasty.
Would probably not go back just because it's a bit pricy for the inconsistency of the food that they serve.
Joey's always offers an extremely high quality guest experience. Their strongest point is the consistent tasty food, quality service, and good atmosphere. I rate this restaurant heads above other moderately priced 3 ring binder style eateries, such as Moxies, Earls, Milestones, Browns etc...
Joey's does not offer baby, or child seating in their restaurant. Kids are great. But, I appreciate the calm dining experience this policy creates. Joey's belinis are fantastic, as are their desserts. Servers are highly trained and round out the experience nicely. Great for lunch or dinner.
Downside? There can be a long wait for tables during busy hours.
This restaurant serves a great steak! I usually order the steak and prawns which comes with a deep fried crispy mashed potato. Everything is always delicious. The miso bowl with chicken and the beach sald are also really good.
The service is usually good, not much to say there.
Value is alright, the food is very good, but can be pricy depending on what you get. The steak and prawns is reasonable at $29 but the miso bowl is $15, pricey for a lunch dish.
Ambiance is good but it can get rowdy on weekends, particularly in the bar.
This restaurant is consistently delicious, I have yet to have a bad experience.
Joey was an extremely pleasant place to dine and the atmosphere was almost perfect. I wish it were a little more quiet but I can't complain. The food came out in a timely manner and the lamb chops were perfectly seared and still pink throughout the middle.
The waitstaff are fantastic
The chocolate financier was delectable and how on earth did they figure out that chocolate would be good with fried sesame crackers? Perfectly orchestrated.
Truly a work of art.
Perhaps it was the Friday dinner hour or it was because we weren't ensconced away in a cozy little booth on the perimeter of the restaurant but we were hit on. Oh no my nightmare. Just a group of girls enjoying food, atmosphere and drinks and these guys approach us and start being sleazy acting cool. Some of us are single but we have more brains than be charmed by idiots that are probably oversized egos.
Back to my review. On to the menu. Prices are slightly inflated here for what it is, especially for some of their regular entrees, but overall it is pretty reasonable. Joey seems to have a salad lovers following and a friend had the Chicken Salad and really seemed to enjoy it. It looked pretty substantial but I'm not really a salad-for-an-entire-meal kind of girl.
As soon as I saw the Lobster and cheeese Sandwich, I started salivating. Oh yes please! I think there were Spring greens, cranberries, feta and a light dressing next to it (not 100% sure now). Good complement to the cheese. And oh what a cheese it was. Not cheap here though.
. I'll wipe the drool off my face now as I sit here recalling the savoury goodness of yesterday's dinner.
I've given this Joey a 4 stars... simply on the merit of this dinner (and the service was decent never mind the idiots). I can't speak for anything else on the menu but what I can say is that I will be returning for the variety and waitresses good service. In the near future.
Was into this location a few weeks back to try the wood cooked flatbread was told to try the tandori chicken version. It looked nice a bit small in size for the $14 price tag. The beard had a nice crunch but unfortunatly all I could taste was the chutney and cilantro. I could not see much chicken let alone taste it. Very disapointed over all evem more so when I had to pay $6 for a beer. At $10 and less spice and more chicken I would have been happier.
Service was good very friendly no one appeared to be sitting around all staff was moving and working to keep guests happy. Nice set up with the exception of the entrance to the parking lot you can easily take the first entrance that will bring you to a differnet complex. I personally have driven past this location 100's times but the road sign really does not stand out too well in that location. In any case I will keep on passing by in the future.
So, I love good food, wine and ambience, and the keg and sushi weren't doing it for me. I wanted something special for my date and freedom from now ex-wife, so my blondie girlfriend and me finally could walk proud in public and we tried out Joey.
The interior is superb, modern and chic, but really comfortable. I loved the set-up of the bar with the ice displayed under it!
We shared a bottle of wine and got some complimentary champagne. The oysters were awesome and we both had the fish that was so right.
The waitress was saucy cute and the tallest girl in miniskirt in the whole room. Blondie hostess was not bad by all means either.
For $68 we had food, wine, candy and great ambience. Enjoyed my freedom celebration.
I went to Joey last night with friends for a meal and some relaxation. We arrived at 8:30 and there was heavy traffic on the road (busy clubbing night?). We called from the car to make sure they knew we were coming, and were informed that they would hold a table for us which was great service.
I believe we got into the reception area at 8:35 and there was a hostess at the door who greeted us and wondered if we were the party that called. The cute blond hostess informed us that we were welcome and our table was ready and waiting.
Even if it was just her, I would have given 5 stars for service, but our waitress was also really great. She was knowledgeable about the food and drinks and was able to suggest items for us when we had trouble. She was also extremely confident in her beauty.
The rest of the evening went very well, however the food wasn't all that fast in coming. I was expecting top notch speed because it was later but that is probably because they were busy anyway.
As for tip, we gave 20 percent on a 265ish bill...I think 15 percent for the beauty of the waitresses and their cute dresses is probably a little undertipping, after all they are trying hard for their patrons.
Joey's was sure a surprise. I was here for an anonymous date and we started with Margaritas which came fast and were really goof.
We started with tacos and a salad. They were delicious but kinda hot. We ordered steak and fish with wine. My girl said her fish was perfect. We added some wine for dessert. It is a cool place.I like the food and service (you know what I mean) at Cactus Club but I think Joey's is now a favourite for these kinds of dates. The food is good, the wine list is acceptable, the location is very good for us and I have to say the skirts are short.
My wife and I went here the other night, it was after 8pm Saturday night, Knowing it was the weekend expected to wait, on entering we found the holding area full as well as the bar area, but after a few minutes we managed to get two seats at the bar. The bar service was excellent and the drinks, beer cold and a good size pour. after an half hour we were taken to our seats, It was as expected very busy but the waitress was very pleasant and prompt. When we ordered our dinner the wife ordered Gingered Beef, on ordering the Waitress said this item is being taken off the menue, that was our first hint, I ordered one of the steaks, and not wanting potatoes was offered extra vegetables. I was impressed with all the extra vegetables that came with my good steak.
However my wife started eating the Gingered Beef and said its very spicy, well after a few bits she is sweating, I tried the Gingered Beef and found it quite hot, but I eat spicy food. My wife could not finsh half of it. We told the waitress that we found it very hot. that was close to the last time we seen her other than when wondered into the service area and asked the manager if she was bring our dessert and last drinks. My wifes lip was blistered and raw in the morning.
I've been to Joey's on numerous occasions and they never disappoint. I went with a party of 8 last night and we were quickly seated. A few of us ordered wine and a few bellinis. Their bellinis are one of the best in the lower mainland. Not overly sweet and so close to perfection.
I ordered the steak and prawns that came with vegetables and their famous crispy mash potatoes. I LOVE their crispy mash potatoes. The steak was done to perfection (medium rare) and the prawns and vegetables were excellent.
I didn't order an appetizer b/c I had to save room for the apple pie. I personally don't really like apple pie, but Joey's is so damn good! They make each individual pie when you order and it comes with either maple or vanilla ice cream. Because they're made fresh to order, it does take approx. 10 to 15 minutes for your pie to arrive... but it's worth the wait.
Our server was wonderful and overall a great night!
The food is quite good here, and the grilled chicken Caesar is awesome! When you go to Joey's, however, you are going for the atmosphere more than the food. It is an awesome place, the lights are dimmed, yet everything feels nice and clean. The service is hit or miss, and the waitresses are clearly hired because they are beautiful. Unfortunately they will not allow you to make a reservation no matter what. I suppose it is hard to fault the place on this, as it is their policy, but It can be very annoying if you want to plan a party. All in all its a solid choice for lunch or dinner.
Me and a date came here after Milestone's was full (we didn't realise it was their 1/2 price date night), and we called ahead of time so we didn't have to wait as long in person. We were seated within about 5 minutes, but weren't asked if we wanted to be on the patio or inside, so we ended up moving to the GORGEOUS patio anyways. I was in a tiny black dress and I had forgotten my jacket so without asking our server brought me a nice fleece blanket for the wind, which was a huge plus. I had a bellini which was the best I've had as it wasn't completely sugar ridden and you could taste the rum, while the date had a few different kinds of mojitos. We started with the ginger beef that was a little too saucey and bready with very little meat, and I had a viva salad with no onions and dressing on the side while the date had alfredo. He seemed to be enjoying his meal (which wasn't the usually disgustingly huge portion you get of pasta at most restaurants), and mine was so fresh with interesting ingredients and moist chicken that I ended up scarffing it down. I wanted to bring the dressing home with me! Very tasty. We turned down dessert, but lingered and enjoyed the sunset. I highly recommend this place for bellinis and cheap pitchers (12.99 for a good variety) on wednesdays!
This place is one of my favourite restaurants in this area. My favourite dishes are the Chicken Souvlaki and the Butter Chicken. Food is always consistant, and the drinks are solid. The one and only downside I can think of is the wait times on busy evenings (Saturday and Friday mainly). Be prepared to wait over an hour in some situations! But that just means the place is popular. And popular because it is really good.
I've been here a few times. Like the joeys on burrard, the outside appearance is nothing special. In fact, you wouldn't even know if was here if they didn't have the massive sign on Lougheed Highway.
On my most recent visit I had the edamame to start which was fine - you can't really mess up boiling soy beans and throwing salt at them. I had the Penang Curry which was suprisingly very good. It was actually fairly hot which is rare for chain restaurants and though they undoubtedly used curry paste, the flavour was spot on.
Because theres no where else in this area really, I'd return if I was there.
