We (especially me) have been going to Jimmy's since I first discovered this great little place several years ago. Early on that particular morning I was on a walkabout, attempting to research my new surroundings. I ended up walking into the Cariboo Shopping Plaza on North Road, and wondered why there seemed to be so many vehicles all parked at one end of the parking lot there. I soon discovered the attraction -- it was Jimmy's Place. I walked in and enjoyed breakfast, and have walked in and done the same a great many times since then!!
It's a great little place, serving up what we think is the best breakfast fare around these parts, and at such affordable prices!! It's semi-cafeteria style -- you order, catch a beverage, and pay, and they bring your meal, cooked the way you wanted it (and there's no greasy kid's stuff here!!), piping hot and tasty to your table.
Friendly place, nice people, and they really know how to do breakfast!!
I love burgers and this is definitely the place to go. The first time I was there, I had the Blackstone Benny and hubby had the Club Sandwich. Both were incredible, so we just had to go back to try their burgers, which one of the owners claimed to be their best. That being said, we went the next week for their burgers. Hubby had the Spicy Mushroom & Bacon burger with fries and I had the Jimmy Special burger sans fries.
Food: incredible! The meat patties were moist and juicy and burgers were bursting with sauce and flavour. Usually for a spicy burger, you'd just get spicy sauce on a regular patty. The Spicy Mushroom & Bacon burger actually had some hotness in the patty, in addition to the banana peppers in the patty and in the burger itself. The Jimmy's Special was equally good, only without the spiciness, which is fine by me. I like heat but not as much as Hubby and there's no way I would've been able to have more than a few bites of the spicy burger. :P The thick cut steak fries are crispy on the outside and potato-y on the inside. The oil must be changed often because the fries were super golden and yummy. Didn't need any salt nor pepper. P.S. their hashbrowns are just as golden crisp. Not like the shredded mess you get at Denny's or even White Spot.
Service: You order the food, pay and then sit at one of their cozy booths with your drink to wait for your food to be brought out to you. We didn't know we were supposed to wrap our burgers with the checkered paper under our burger, so the owner came over and showed us how to do it by wrapping one of our burgers. It was awesome.
Value: The prices are very reasonable. Being the cheapass that I am, I was weary of spending that much on a burger but the quality is far superior to places like White Spot, Cactus Club, Milestone's, etc. It's definitely worth it.
Ambiance: It's a diner. It's not pretty looking by any means, but they have these giant pictures of some of their menu items on their walls to give you a sneak peak at what your food will look like. The booths have definitely seen better days, but it adds to the charm of the place imo.
It's too bad they close on Sundays, otherwise it'd be the go-to place after church for lunch. :)
The hot and spicy jimmy burger is honestly the best burger I've ever had in my life. I've taken numerous of friends there and they also agree its the best. All of the ingredients are super fresh, especially the bun. The breakfasts are also very good. I've been eating at this restuarant for over 20 years and have never had a bad meal. The people are very friendly, they say thank you to ever person when they leave.
