A bad experience!

I used to go to the Weinlager restaurant for a bite when I was gambling away my money, but now that the casino in Coquitlam has been gentrified, the name and menu have changed.

I tried the black and blue burger. It was a juicy burger on an onion bun with nice toppings and a generous amount of blue cheese. The side onion rings were hot and tasty. My wife had the fish and chips. The fish was okay, but the fries were definitely the better part of the meal. Overall, the food was very satisfying. The table service could have been a bit faster, though. The ambience is typical of Milestones/Red Robin/Cactus Club, but quieter due to the advanced age of most of the diners.

Now the bad part: What ruined the meal was that they overcharged us for the food. The pre-tax total was a couple of dollars more than the combined cost of the meal items. Luckily Mrs. Chasiubow is good at math, because I hadn’t noticed. When I brought this to the attention of the hostess she said “I can’t fix that, so you will have to wait while I call a manager”. After she made a few phone calls and I waited patiently, a supervisor showed up and took my credit card. I didn’t see her again for about ½ hour. Finally she returned and gave me the corrected bill. No apology, no regrets, just “Here we go, is that the right amount now?” Apparently the sarcasm was on special today.

Wow, that was bad service! I wish I’d just paid the bill despite the error and left. Maybe that was what they hoped too, with all the stalling. I will take my money elsewhere.

Don't Gamble on This Joint!

Went there on Saturday for lunch. We've been before and wasn't overly impressed on that occassion but this time it was worse. The service was very slow and the food terrible. The french fries were overly seasoned or salted and not even hot. Although the server was pleasant they are understaffed and poorly managed. Stick to their food cart at the other end of the casino. Not cheap, but a lot faster.
