Was very busy here, and arrived just before noon on a saturday. We were seated quickly and had our orders taken in a prompt manner. I had a breakfast burrito and my friend had a burger.
Service was good, with a very attentive waitress. Nice frog themed restaurant, but seemed very noisey.
Food was decent, but nothing special. Burger was fine, and so was the burito. Probably would not go back unless in the area.
We showed up for an early dinner one night. I had the mushroom/chicken burger w/ fries and he had the quesadillas and a shake. The food arrived within an acceptable amount of time - it was hot and fresh. The fries were so good! I dipped them in some red pepper mayo. The burger itself was good. They serve them on focaccia - the chicken breast was cooked well and it was juicy. The quesadilla was huge! He could barely finish it.
Our server was good, very happy.
I have eaten here one one occasion and will not go back. The food is just plain bad and there is absolutely nothing memorable otherwise about the restaurant. Plus, the name is somewhat cheesy. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
But it's how I find this place.
Food: The menu is extensive, Salad, Sandwich, Pasta, Burger, Pizza, Steak, Chicken, Seafood, Mexican, Ribs. Ordered the Seafood Meltdown Sandwich with fries and Clubhouse Blanket with Caesar salad. The sandwich is great. A thick piece of bread toasted with salmon, shrimp, cheese, avocado. Not sure what they did to the fries because they are extra crispy. The blanket is a fold-over sandwich. You can see the lettuce, bacon, ham and chicken in a pizza style flat. After you put it in your mouth, you can taste the honey mustard and cheese. Perfect.
Service: Service is great. They are family friendly. There is a table with kids and a table of seniors with walking aid. They are pretty accomodating. The server is pretty nice and friendly. They are pretty helpful in explaining the menu. Also have to mention that I left my sunglass and they come out to the parking lot to give it back to me. Thanks.
Ambiance: The restaurant is like Milestone's, Cactus Club, etc. but it has a theme of frog. You can see frog decoration everywhere. They have live music lounge on one side and a restaurant on the other side with an open kitchen.
Price: The sandwich and blanket are only $11.29 each. For the food, service, and ambiance, it's worth the price. With the Entertainment book coupon, it's a really good deal.
Overall: Definitely worth re-visit even without the coupon.
Food: Big proportions, a great selection from the menu.
Service: Friendly and polite staff.
Value: Price matches with the food.
Ambiance: At night time there's live piano and glow in the dark stars on the ceiling, very romantic. The other side has more of a family setting to it, seats are comfy.
My wife and I decided to have a late dinner here using the entertainment book. We don't usually eat at places like this for dinner but decided to give it a try. The ambiance is quite nice. Little figurines and imagery of stylized frogs ties in well with the name of the place. Casual, loungy-type atmosphere.
I ordered the chicken fajitas to take advantage of their tableside guacamole while my wife had a chicken breast dinner. The food was okay, but my fajitas were WAAAY to watery in the skillet. The guacamole was good though. My wife said her food wasn't that good.
At first I thought service was very poor as it took 20 minutes (and one reminder) to get our drink order which was taken as soon as we sat down. When the drinks did arrive, my wife noticed "stuff" floating in ther water and along the rim of her glass. I took a whiff and it smelled like celery salt. We called the server over and complained and she brough back two more glasses....but same problem. Finally we just ended up getting bottled water as it appeared all their "clean" glasses weren't actually clean at all. Through it all though our server was very apologetic, and nice and even got the manager involved of her own accord, so I tipped her well. But the experience gave us little incentive to return.
Overall, just a little better than passable.
my husband and i wanted to try it as we had heard rave revues..it was not busy, and the service sucked..i did not eat my meal as it was so bad and the waiter did not even ask us if everything was alright..my husband ate his , but said it tasted like it was frozen and cooked in a microwave...i would never go back..it was an expensive waste of money
The atmosphere is nice, there was an entertainer playing guitar and singing in the lounge. This was enjoyable. The food though was less than what I expected, even if the prices were lower I still wouldn't recommend this food. The place has a feel like Earls or Cactus Club but the food is much less quality than either of those two. I would highly suggest giving this place a skip for dinner and going to one of these others unless you just want to sit in the lounge to enjoy a drink with some entertainment.
We have been going to the Frogs ever since it opened, and it has always been consistently excellent quality. Not only is the food great, but you on certain nights you can have a free live music concert as well if you sit in that area. I like this restaurant so much that I have been there a couple of times more than once in a week! Their burgers are excellent, but the menu has quite a variety of good choices. If I am thinking of going out to a restaurant, this restaurant is always one of my top choices.
Just got back from my second trip to the Frogpoop Grill. My first venture to this place was with my girlfriend on a Thursday. It was not very busy yet we were still asked to wait by a passing server. This did not impress either of us. Five minutes later the "hostess" was available to seat us. Our server was pleasant enough, but after receiving our drinks we were then subjected to another long delay before I flagged her down to take our order. My girlfriend ordered the 4 Cheese Alfredo while I ordered the 8oz Sirloin to be cooked medium-rare. The food came quick enough which surprised me since we had to wait for everything else but I was immediately disapointed. The first thing I noticed was the stench of the alfredo. The pasta was completely drenched in sauce. It was almost a soup. A foul smelling cheese noodle soup. I then cut into my steak to find that it was not cooked to medium-rare. It could not even be considered rare OR medium. It was overcooked to well past pink. Enough was enough at this point. My plate was sent back and after 15 minutes I got a new steak, cooked to about medium-medium rare. Disgusted with our entire experience, we nibbled on our food, left a sad tip and left. Suffice to say, I vowed never to return again.
A few months later; last night, I was dragged back there by friends unaware of what was in store. I only drank, refused to eat and pursuaded our group to leave as soon as we could. Unsurprisingly, the service and the food were terrible.
I will never go back to Frogstone grill as long as I live.
My hubby & I have eaten at the Frogstone Grill on two separate occasions. Our first time we sat in the pub part of the restaurant (in late November 2008). My hubby, being Alberta born, knows a good steak when he tastes it, and the steak he had that evening was the best he’s had in BC since moving from Alberta 6 years ago. Myself, I had the southwestern burger which is made from chopped round (instead of ground) and is honestly one of the best burgers I have ever had. In fact it was so good I had to order it again on our most recent visit (Dec 14, 2008). This last time we sat in the main part of the restaurant which was fairly quiet (it was in the late afternoon on a Sunday).
The service both times was great. The drinks both times were tasty (their Frogstone lager is great as are their martinis).
We are looking forward to the next time I get a burger craving.
