The Cactus Club has over 20 locations in BC and Alberta and features an eclectic menu selection that includes steaks, rice bowls, dinner sized salads and more.
Having never been here before, we didn't know what to expect concerning menu, prices, atmosphere, etc. Hubby's boss goes here all the time and raves about it, so thought we'd give it a try since we were in the area. The server was polite, sweet, and knowledgable, and got our order exactly right. We ordered the fish tacos and the special of the night, short ribs with garlic mashed potatoes. The fish tacos were superb! Hubby's beef was fork tender. Such a delicious and satisfying meal, wow! All in all, great food and we would come back again.
Went to Catus Club with some friends. It was the first time for them to go to Catus and my first time back to this particular one in eight years.
We had a large group of nine and it was a busy Saturday afternoon, but were seated fairly quickly. Our server was friendly and was attentive as the drinks were refilled in a timely order without us constantly asking, our food came in a good time and was really good. We shared tuna tataki (first time eating that for some of the people at the table) and we all ordered something Mexican, but with various changes, but the server was good and remembered who ordered what, which was quite a feat.
Even though it was busy and a bit noisy as there were at least two birthday parties going on, the ambience was on the loud side, but it was still not deafening. We had an over-all good time and now that I live in the area, I'll be back. :)
I have been going to this Cactus Club quite a few times over the years. Although it isn't a perfect 5 restaurant there is nothing to complain about. Their broccoli cheese soup is delicious and everything else that I have tried has been quite good as well. If you are looking for something more hip then the many mom and pop restaurants and boring chains within Coquitlam and Port Moody I would recommend this restaurant.
I really enjoy this chain and this lcoation s no different.
Wowza this place is unreal - so fun. It's a little pricey for me but good for special occasions. I hope the prices don't go any higher and/or the portions don't shrink.
Took my friend here for her birthday the other night and we had a blast... we'll go back for sure. Such a entertaining dining idea.. and the specials were spot on and the wine and vodka not too high priced.
Every so often I have to do laundry. And since I live in one of those aging buildings that has survived several decades but can't handle plumbing that can support laundry machines, I have to go to the laundromat. Now there's a nice clean laundromat near by, and Cactus is right between the laundromat and home. So on the way back, I stop in here for a cheese steak. Before I started doing this, sometimes I would wait and wait until doing my laundry, until I ran out of socks. But since I've been rewarding myself with Cactus, I actually look forward to another exciting laundromat visit. The girls here are something after all.
If you are a sports bar fan, you'll probably love the big screens and the beer and the ambience. A cheesesteak, of course, and since I've never been to Philadelphia I can't tell whether they're authentic, but I can definitely state they're good. The roll is nice and soft, full of meat and onions and cheesiness, none of it overwhelming.
what really rocks here beside the skirts is the beer selection. There is an actual bar with ambience.
As per usual Cactus Club provided an enjoyable decor, good food, great service, and overall a great dining experience. Always nice to go there for dinner and relax with friends. The service is the exceptional part - the staff never tries to sell, sell, sell when we are there - just good quality and genuine.
Would recommend to anybody looking for a night out.
Is goin' on with Cactus Club Cafes... I recently wrote a review of the Park Royal location - noting that the food quality seems to have deteriorated.
So, I was at the Coquitlam location, which I have patroned a few times, and was quite disappointed in my Cheddar Veggie Burger. Blah. And way over cooked. Not enough mayo/relish either. Had a side Ceasar salad which was all right.
Our waitress was downright weird... she did her job adequately but her behaviour was odd (won't bore you with details). But what was most disconcerting was that when she brought back our change, she said that she left out the 44 cents because she didn't have it!?! Like, isn't that illegal to not give correct change?
I don't particularly like the Coquitlam location but it's an after Ikea lunch stop (never eat at the Ikea cafeteria).
Anyway, the Cactus Club chain seems to be declining in their quality of food. Not that the food was great but at least moderately satisfying.
My wife and I stopped here on Friday evening. Excellent staff, very good food, teeny tiny portions. For the prices they charge, there should be larger portions. Reminds me of the orphan child, "Please sir. More?" I won't be back simply because I was still hungry when we left the premises.
The food is overpriced but decent. I have been here many times as it has lots of room and different choices perfect for an office or group party and the food is at least consistent. Plus it's a chain so people know what it is.
But it's not a place you go to for the food. It's by no means great and there is nothing memorable. Not cheap either.
one of my favourite places to dine in this area. however it's a shame that they don't take reservations on the weekend. line ups could be crazy depending on what time you arrive. the food isn't perfect but it's reasonably priced. servers are friendly and the service is relatively quick.
This is one of the restaurant that we keep going back. The food is consistently good, the service is always warm and friendly, the price might be a bit on the high side but you do get what you paid for.
My fav on the menu is definitely the jack daniel ribs. They are so tender that you won't even need to use your knife. Their butternut squash ravioli is also very good. A bit on the rich side but the taste is very balance and leaves you wanting more.
One thing that is a tad on the negative side is they don't change their menu often. There may be a new dish or two but everything stays the same. Need more variety.
It was my first time at the cactus club and I was very happy. The food wasn't incredible but it was good, what I expected in this type of restaurant.
The service was great and the room was gorgeous, especially the washrooms. A fun place to meet friends for a quick bite to eat and drinks or a dinner.
I would definately go back.
and this is the jewel of it. food is delish i around there from 6 am to 3 for a year and had a great time when i ate and drank. load of brownies... looks like it should be in los vegas. nice all just great, it reminds me of a high class a&w. if there was one this would be it:)music juke box has a wide rage of bob marley to umm, Jack Johnson and others. favorites are burgers made with jack daniels and alberta whisky, brownies and jambalaya rice bowls , and the favorite chicken quessadilla, dont like the spicy yogurt that it comes with kind of good but the quessa would be better with the jack sauce.
My only experience with cactus club prior to this was a quick lunch at the Broadway location in Vancouver, where I had a decent quesdilla, but it was nothing special.
However, as we pulled up to this cactus club in Coquitlam, it was definately a prettier sight, with a water feature outside. I had the creole chicken, and finished every last morsel on the plate. Delicious.
The only issues were that my friend had forgotten to make reservations and our group of 6 had to wait phenomenally long for a table (which is not really their fault for being busy). In addition, a member of the group had funky guinness served to him, which was exchanged for another beer after a while. Also a pastaffarian had to wait a good half an hour after his pasta was brought over, for parmesan cheese to reach the table. Perhaps they just need more waitstaff?
I've been to this Cactus Club on several different occasions, and I always leave asking myself, why did I come back?
The food is okay. It's trendy and overpriced, and I know this, but still order it. The service is usually okay, however, my sister and I went a while back and it was horrible. They sat us in a nice booth, and then sat screaming children right beside us! Cactus Club is a restaurant aimed towards a clientele of younger people.... I didn't think it was that young though! I know it's the parents' responsibility to control their children, so I guess it's not their fault. Other waitresses have been nice, but kind of indifferent. They have the whole "i'm a cactus club server, so I'm god's gift to man" attitude about them. One server didn't get our drinks to us until after our appy got there. That's bad. And we had to wave down another server for refills. I always go there expecting the worst service, and receiving about what I expect. This way I never leave disappointed!
The ambiance is the only thing this place has going for it. It's very modern and the bathrooms are SO cool... maybe that's why I keep coming back, the exotic foot flush. haha.
I love Cactus Club, it's always good - chain wide. I don't think the food quality changes location to location much at all. This location has to have the nicest decor for sure. Very funky and modern with super sized booths.
I went there, and I left with high hopes of going there again. The service was good, and the food was even better! the bathrooms were amazing! i went in there, expecting a so-so bathroom, and it was like, awesome! im sorry but it was. dtheir steak is really good and flavour full, its almost as addictive as potato chips. thats how good it is, seriously. its great!
My wife & I had supper Apr 11,08 for the first time at your restaurant. We both were very impressed with the Out Standing Staff and the Great Service we got from our server. The food Presention was Great!! And very tasty, we would recommend this Cactus Club in Coquitlam with top marks. A Very Big Thankyou for making our first time a lovely evening out.
Gotta love a place that has such a Hot toitee!!!! Here's a place that knows...your only as good as your bathroom!! Regardless, it's a great place to be, always busy, great menu variety for all ages but seems to be quite popular with the twenty somethings.
You really can't miss here if you are looking for a lively fun atmosphere.
I love the lounge here. I go with friends before or after the movies. I've eaten at the bar and in a booth, and both have been great. The food is quite good - always cooked to my satisfaction. The menu options are somewhat limited, but if you like something in particular they serve, it's always great to go back and have that and a nice drink. Great bellinis! The atmosphere is the best here! Service is somewhat lacking at times, but nothing too bothersome. Lines can be very, very long and no reservations. Sometimes the lounge is full, too, so if you have to wait, the bar is a nice alternative, too.
