I have come to Browns a fair bit and it's usually a decent go to for an average meal. This Brown's franchise is worse than any other I've visited and it shows when the're always seats available on Friday and Saturday nights at any time.
The other night we went because we were starving and near there. I get tired of all the same drinks at all the same places, this one included. Their social drinks are cheap and not bad but I'd like something nice like a good cider on tap how about? I don't always want wine, and sometimes something refreshing would be good. I'm not a fan of glow in the dark cocktails and "martinis". No luck here. Had a Strongbow for $8 - yuk.
Partner ordered a pizza which was ok. I made the foolish mistake of ordering the "pad thai". It's in quotes because it is no more like pad thai than choloclate pudding is like crackers. This stuff comes in a bowl heaped with beans sprouts. Ok good start. Where's the cilantro? Oh - there's none. WHat is this mess under the beansprouts? It was a liquidy sauce that tasted like fish juice(fish sauce) and soy sauce. Not, tamarind like it is supposed to. The oil and sauce are suppoesd to stick to the noodles, not allow them to swim in it with the miniscule wet peanut bits. Then there was the noodles. They must have thought I was out for the night from a nursing home. They were all chopped up in to 1 inch pieces! What the heck is that? It was positively VILE. And as mush as I like veggies, they do not belong in pad thai. Whatever "chef" came up with that recipe has no idea about thai food in the least. When the waitress came and asked how it was I said "actually it was gross" "oh okay" she giggled" and asked if we wanted out bill. We sure did , to get out and not come back.
Plus, these Browns have not changed up their menus in years and it's getting REALLY tiresome. Time to find a new hangout.
went for lunch just before Christmas with a friend, and have been to a few different locations previous. Our waitress was friendly, but I think pretty new. Social Lager and Social wine is a great price if you arent into pretentious prices when looking for a simple drink to do with lunch. I had the fish tacos, which I always find on point. My dining companion had the shrimp pesto pizza with little complaint. They were a little understaffed and the waitress had a big party after us,but we werent in hurry. However, the manager came to us to get a drink order and comp'ed our drinks apologizing for the wait. I found that to be very genuine in concern, as we weren't complaining or demanding any special treatment. It made me feel valued as a guest in the restaurant. I know this chain tends to get busy, but my last two visits to his particular location have always been consistent food wise. Its a nice change to a pub
