Boston Pizza offers a casual dining atmosphere with over 100 menu items including a selection of pizzas, pastas and a wide variety of appetizers, meal-sized salads, entrees and desserts. The restaurant also has plenty of big screen TVs to catch the big game.
we're been here a couple times, first time, long wait, no AC working, wasn't a pleasant experience, but we figured we'd give it another try for lunch yesterday.
The restaurant was about 50% occupancy, we were seated right away. Dining with my wife, and 2 sons, ages 4 and 6. We ordered drinks, an appy, and meals for all for of us; pizzas for us, and a couple kids meals for the boys.
After we ordered, we waited, and waited; 25 minutes passed, no appy, and no server anywhere to be seen. We finally flagged her down, and asked for our appy to be cancelled, as it was taking so long, and the kids were getting rather impatient. She rolled her eyes, said the kitchen was very busy, but everything was ordered. 10 minutes later our appy arrived, and so did everything else we ordered, all at the same time.
The issue didn't end here though, because after this, she disappeared again, for the entire meal, only resurfacing once to clear our dishes; not a single quality check, or to see if we wanted another round of drinks, which were empty half the meal. I actually had to flag down the passing manager to get him to bring us a glass of water for my son, as our server was nowhere to be found.
After all that, we asked for our bill, which came quickly, and included everything we ordered, including the appy that we had asked to be cancelled, and received with our food......at the very least, they should have taken that from our bill.
AS we sat there, I filled out the customer service survey on my phone, and received an email from the manager the next day, offering a free appy for the issues. So, after billing me for an item I had asked to be cancelled, waiting 35 minutes for our food, and being completely ignored by our server, all they thought to offer was to have us come back, spend more money with them, so I could get the appy for free that I should never had paid for in the first place? That is hardly acceptable, and shows a complete lack of regard for their customers. I don't make complaints, or write negative reviews, though we dine out 3-4 times a week; so if I am, it is because I am clearly unhappy, and expect to be taken seriously.
To add insult, the table next to us, (who received all their food within a minute of us, despite ordering 15 minutes after we did) sent back the Cactus Cut Potato Appy they ordered, which was replaced within a couple minutes, the manager dropping it off, with an apology, and saying it was on the house.
While the food itself was good, the customer service, or complete lack there of, will ensure that I will never be returning to this location; they can keep their free appy.
To the BP Alfredo sauce. Just take one part wallpaper paste and add 3 parts skim milk. Be sure not to add any garlic, salt or flavour of any type and it will be perfect. What a nasty mess. DO NOT order this dish EVER. I seriously would be embarassed to serve this to a dog.
Kid's had pizza. Said the auce tasted good but the crust was way too much and had no flavour. They also hate they way they took one bite and the cheese all came off.
Caesar salad had exactly 3 croutons on it. Family of 4 - one lost out.
Drinable house wine was better than most restaurants at $5.99.
But really, food should be better at any restaurant which is why I never go to BP and wil continue this pattern.
We had lunch here yesterday. Seemed like a long wait to be seated & people were coming in. Got seated at one of their many booths and the atmosphere was nice, felt like a sports bar.. We split a small hawaiian pizza and yam fries, it came to around $22 which I thought a bit pricey. The pizza came out hot and delicious with a great crust but thought the portion of fries could have been larger for the price..
There was a line up Friday night and so we knew it was going to be tough getting a table inside. Reception said that there was room on the patio and we could still hear the Canuck game, with the possibility of seeing replays. We agreed.
It was a busy night so understandable that we were given over 5 minutes to study the menu. We wondered about our choice of restaurant but then the waitress came, apologizing. So we ordered and hoped and listened to the game.
From there on, it was delightful. Our wine order came quickly and hot on its heels came our appies. Barely finished them and our main course came out. Shortly after that, she came back to check on us and not with the Yes-No, is it okay? but rather, how do you like it? Great portion of chicken on my Caesar and lots of chicken breast for my wife.
The wine ended and shortly there after, waitress offering more. Barely finished the entrees and she was there, what else would we like. We were stuffed so asked for just the bill. Left there with a great experience and went home to watch the end of the game. Winning evening, both with Boston Pizza, (who are so much more than just Pizza), and the Canucks. Now, while the Canucks are gone for the season, BP is still there offering up a great experience.
This Boston Pizza is not meeting the service standards it should. One time my sister and I waited at the front for a soild 10 minutes before someone even noticed we were there. The food is portioned to be small, unless it's pasta or pizza. The servers that I've had on a couple occasions are not good. Not good at all. I know server specs and most of them just doesn't do them. BP's has great garlic twist bread and I suggest getting it with the cactus dip. This BP's should re-train some of their employees to meet the standards they need to, and be on the same level of other BP's. I perfer to go to other BP's in the area over this one for that reason.
Quality of food is poor; it's overpriced, and the manager doesn't seem to care whether we return or not. The chipotle chicken caesar wrap barely had any chicken in it ... hardly worth the $10.49 they charge for it. When we advised the manager, she claimed they weigh the chicken and only offered to take 15% off our bill.
Reading a poor review from 16 Dec. 2008, wanted to post my review from a visit on the 20 th Dec.2008. Shall state upfront that as a Secret Shopper I would be the Owner's worst nightmare! (go to my web site and you shall understand) in the area and hungry at lunchtime I paid a first visit to a BP outlet in over 4 years!
greeting and seated quickly and friendly by a lady who turned out to be the franchisee, ordered an old favourite for almost 40 years, the Boston Brute sandwich and a coffee...coffeee seved fast and hot, sandwich served in 8-10 minutes ..excellent hot spicy and lots of cheese! Restuarant busy and observing other tables and new arivals the restaurant was running like clockwork! offered coffee refill , bill requested and presented with a warm smile and was asked did I enjoy my lunch! YES! INDEED I DID..GREATV FOOD GREAT SERVICE!
To the unhappy Elliot family you appar to have had a terrible experience and rightly so to write your review! All I would request to all unhappy diners anywhere, is to take the time and required effort to arrange to face the owner in person even if it takes a return visit. the restuarant in question has been open for over 20 years in a very competative marketplace.....and survived!
give them the opportunity to correct your bad experience but of course only give them one opportunity! please post an update if you follow through with my suggestion.
Our experience with Boston Pizza in Coquitlam (near IKEA) was abysmal. First of all, the six of us are left standing, waiting to be seated while staff keep walking by ignoring us and the 2 other groups who were waiting in line behind us. No greetings, no smiles. The place didn’t appear busy so I have no idea why this happened. One waitress said she would see where the hostess was. Finally the hostess came and then she said “Wait here…I’ll be back soon.” Another 5-10 minutes standing there. Our table asked for several orders of appetizers; mine being Breaded Wings. I clearly said “No Sauce.” When the wings arrived 20 minutes later, they were coated in some sticky sauce so naturally, I politely told the waitress this was not what I had ordered. She argued that it was correct. Another party at the table spoke up and verified I had specifically said No Sauce. The waitress still griped “You said BBQ….” But she took them away begrudgingly. 4 minutes later I get a “fresh” plate of wings. VERY dark colored and all stuck together in a gross clump, it was OBVIOUS the kitchen had attempted to rinse off the BBQ sauce and then refried or microwaved the wings. They were no crispy and looked shriveled and greasy. It was a vile looking mess. I asked the waitress right away if these were fresh or had the kitchen attempted to remove the BBQ sauce and reserve them….she outright lied and said Of course they are fresh…. And she was rude about it. How could they remove sauce? She bleated loudly. That’s the point, sweetie, they could NOT do it….. successfully and it was obvious to everyone these fresh wings did not get cooked in 4 minutes when the original order took 20 minutes. I order these wings a lot at BP, I know what they look like and they take at least 15 minutes min. Anyway, I decided to try one and sure enough, sticky sweet and incredibly greasy. I told the waitress who informed me “I guess the kitchen lied to me again.” Great….but who was lying to me? The waitress said she had asked the kitchen if these were fresh. Any fool could see what had gone on. So she got me a fresh set…again. 25 minutes later- this time they were right….golden brown rather than almost black. By then, everyone else was eating their main course. 2 people said the Pizza was the worst they had ever had. Because I had no food yet, I tried the pizza and it was ghastly. The meat looked and tasted like cheap bologna and the pizza’s were not very hot….just warm. Non Stop drinks were never refilled despite us asking twice but we all had water so that was OK I guess. My main course came luke-warm and the pasta was in a sea of water at the bottom of the plate which was very unappealing. Everyone else was done their meal but chatted and waited for me to eat my cool, water logged spaghetti. I didn’t want to complain again since it would just be a blessed argument with Miss Non Congeniality. We got our bill while Princess hovered, seeming to be watching to see that we tipped her. She hovered still and butted into our conversation to ask us if she could get us any change and was told no thanks. This is just another way of saying ‘DO I GET TO KEEP ALL THE MONEY…? OR HOW MUCH IS MY TIP?’ Still she hovered til we paid her. Keep in mind, we are 6 middle aged ladies, not too likely we are going to bolt and stiff the place but suddenly, there she hung out right by our table, until we paid. Too bad she was no where to be found when we wanted refills of drinks. All in all, it’s an atrocious place to eat, employees shockingly bad service but worst of all, is staffed by some very bad liars who think deception is fine unless you get caught and even then, you just smirk and blame the kitchen. What I just cannot stomach is how cavalier our waitress was about flat out lying and how unembarrassed she was when busted, still expecting a big tip.
After reading the previous review I was a little wary to try this location but it was fantastic. The beer comes out in frosty chilled glass and the pizza was loaded with toppings. The service was pretty good too. No wait at all when we went in at 9pm. Will totally go back.
it was nice to be greeted by the general manager at the door, something you don't see to often at restaraunts these days. Food was hot, kids got there food just before we did, and it was a nice treat have a free jello for the kids meal. wasn't super busy in the restaruant, but still, was a bit of a buzz, i guess it was just before dinner. Our server was very attentative, my drink was always full, and never had to ask for the bill, as we didn't want dessert, she had the bill ready for us already. Speedy and effective service, since I hav a 2 year old, we always want to get in fast, eat fast and out. that was the case here. Next time were at Ikea shopping, we'll be back!
We ordered ribs, pasta and nachos - all cold. The nachos was soggy.
It was a Saturday night. We went to several other restaurants but all told us the waiting time would exceed 45 minutes. But no waiting at Boston Pizza!
sad sad sad. i was not drunk just damn hungry. could have been the night the time.its always loud and full of drunks on weekends after 10pm.FU^$& ING SH&%Y service. Bad food. I mean all resturants depend on whom is in the kitchen and who is waiting. but I will never go back.
