I called BluFin Sushi and Placed an order for pick-up. They told me they were located at on Young. When I went to pick up our order there was No BluFin restaurant. I called and they gave me a new address on Yale. This address had No BluFin at location. I called back and a different Employee gave me the right address. When I got to location I noticed the resturant was Called Jumbo Sushi not BluFin??? I picked up our order and asked if this place was BluFin. They said it was but now called Jumbo??? When I got Home to surprise my Wife the food She noticed there was MOLD in some of the Sushi. I called back but the resturant was Closed. A complete nightmare. I now know why they changed their Name... Worst Resturant in everyway possible. We couldn't believe that they gave us Old Moldy Sushi???? That was the first time I order Pick-Up for Sushi, It will be the Last. Do Not Eat Here...... Dave and Donna
My husband and I came to Jackson's for our anniversary as we had been the year prior for his birthday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Apparently a change in ownership since our last visit.
What a disappointment. This restaurant was great before the new owner took over.
Two pieces of cut baguette served on a butcher board that were cold and had obviously been left sitting out because the side exposed to air was crusted over.
Appetizer was greasy.
Main course was sub par and terribly presented. "Stuffed" potato looked as though it had been stuffed and left sitting for hours before being served and on top of that was cold. (Not warm; cold). New potatoes were provied 15 minutes into the meal. (Kind of pointless at that juncture) Meat was not cooked as requested; came out much rarer than requested, blood red not pink. "Seasonal vegetables" looked as though they had been cut up for a stew not for a steak plate; yams and carrots with two stalks (not tips, actual stalks) of yellow stringy asparagus one-and-half inches long.
On top of this, I asked for one glass of wine and an extra glass as my husband no longer enjoys wine, but would not want me to sit and drink alone so would have a "sip" with me. I was presented with and charged for two glasses of wine.
Our opinion on the meal was asked and when politely told of our disappointment no compensation was offered other than in the owner's words "are you sure you would not like dessert. I would have comp'd it anyway as it is a special occasion." The meal was so disappointing we weren't up to trying a what probably would have been a disappointing close to a very sad experience. Was offering us a free dessert that would have been provided gratis anyway supposed to make us feel better?
It was obvious that we were disappointed in the meal yet still we were presented with a full bill. There was absolutely no compensation given for the horrible experience. This was truly the worst dining experience I have had in 55 years in the Lower Mainland. We should have left without the paying the bill, but we're just not that way inclined. An utterly negative experience.
My husband recently came home with pastries from this fairly new bakery. It's been open a couple of months. He said they were very friendly and the owner came and opened the door for him as he left.
(I often don't care for pastries he has brought home in the past.) These were outstanding! All fresh and natural ingredients are used. Real cream. Absolutely delish! He went a 2nd time and brought different ones. Again, outstanding. Today he brought home a crusty loaf of bread. SO good, I can't leave it alone.
I highly recommend this establishment.
Yes, we arrived near Christmas without a reservation..... BUT
Seated promptly, drink orders taken. Food orders taken in good time.
Then it went south
Apparently there was a party of 30+ also in the restaurant. Perhaps they should have closed to deal with those people, but they did not. Many other people were there as "reservations" or as "drop ins". Didn't matter who you were, you were in for a long wait.
After nearly an hour, after many, many, many "sorry" from the wait staff and a young lady we assumed was the manager, we FINALLY got our food. It was "meh". Steak was NOT top quality for the price, "add-on" prawns for $9.00 were simply 6 prawns fried in garlic butter. "Wild rice pilaf" was clumpy white rice with a few strands of wild rice, "seasonal vegetables" were some grilled zucchini slices with a few carrots.
VERY DISAPPOINTED in this place. Asked to speak to the owner, who seemed to be pretty young to be the owner of a restaurant that has pretensions of being a steak house. Got SOME compensation, not much.
WE WILL NOT BE BACK.
DON'T GO THERE!!
So me and my sister went to the yellow deli for a late dinner and it was perfect the food was amazing and the service was alright. We had decided to share a dessert the cream cheese pie which is to die for and our waiter brought us our check and asked us if we'd like a cinnamon bun we politely said no, not wanting to spend any money and being full. After about 5 mins and we finished our pie he comes out with a cinnamon bun, looking happy and nice. We both automatically assumed it was free because we potiley declined before and we already had our check so we thanked him graciously and accepted even though we were extremely full. I mean who passes up free food right? We stuffed our faces even more full not wanting to be rude and not eat it all because we thought it was free. Then all of the sudden he returns grabs our check and leaves, comes back shortly after and the sure enough the cinnamon bun was on the check. We were both astonished. We ended up spending another 5 dollars for something we definitely did
Not want and stuffed ourself full because we didn't want to be rude. I just think that is extremely inappropriate... Maybe we shouldn't handled it differently and asked if it was free but it really did seem like it. It's sad because their food is so awesome. Probably won't be going back now just because of this, at least it will make me more careful in the future.
Bad service , ordered a double chocolate donut and they gave me a honey crueller. Then I called to let them know the mistake and they didn't believe me! Rude person on the phone and said I would have to give them the donut back. already threw it away seeing as im allergic to honey. Stevenson Tim Hortons gave me a free french vanilla due to a watery one before. I don't see why they can't do the same. Will not be returning. And I highly suggest you don't as well.
some of the food here is terrific, some is disgusting, it all depends what you order. my mom loves it here, so this is the only time I go here, is when my mom wants to. would never be my pick. the service sucks, very slow and rude, and doesn't matter which waitress we get, some are worse than others, but we have never rec'd a positive attitude waitress here ever. the fish and chips is disusting and so is the omelets, way over cooked
love the food, but very expensive place to eat. too noisy but that is a good thing as it is always busy here. the food was good, although they got my order wrong, but I didn't' complain, as it was only partly wrong. but I can't always afford this place, so it is a once a year thing. if we are lucky twice :)
First time trying this restaurant. Chilliwack lacks "good" Italian food. We were quickly greeted and seated. Nice and clean but tables are very close together, the guy behind me could nearly rub elbows with me.
Had a bottle of wine, that was nice and the fact that the server reminded us we could take the leftover bit home.
Appetizers were okay - caesar salad and lentil leek soup, nothing special here.
I had the tortellini alfredo; it was very salty and the sauce was very watery.
My compainion had Sal's special - fettucine noodles with steak slices on top; not well received, steak was not done to her liking and the sauce was too meaty and not flavourful.
Overall we were not impressed with the meals. Will not be returning and don't recommend!
I found a coupon for 40% off in the Progress newspaper, when I went in to check it out I was personally greeted by the new owner. I had the Chicken Shnitzel, the chicken is a homemade pressed patty and it was outstanding. The server was extremely friendly and we recieved our food in no time at all. Will be going back soon!
Have been here several times for drinks and an appie, or for lunch/dinner.
Service can vary... usually too few servers for the space and they are really rushed. Sometimes it's great, but we have walked out more than once because of sitting for 10 minutes or more without even eye contact. A cheerful (if rushed) "Hi, be right with you" would be a better approach.
Food is acceptable. If you hit the place on a fund-raiser night, they have a roast beef buffet dinner that is good and inexpensive.
Live music is variable in quality and always loud.
Guess all I can say is "S'OK" If we are in the area, we would stop...but we won't drive for any time to get there.
... and I don't have to cook!
Have been several times for late-morning weekend breakfast.
Service ALWAYS prompt and friendly... servers who have been doing this for a while, know what they are doing.
Food always good, fresh and hot.
Coffee refills prompt, any extra requests are dealt with promptly and with smiles.
For a chain restaurant, very good in terms of quality of food. For any restaurant, the servers are fantastic!
Dropped in for dinner several weeks ago.... had seen the place during Chilliwack's Party in the Park Friday evenings.
From the time we were met at the door with friendly smiles, we were served exceptionally well.
Without being OVERLY-attentive, the server(s) made sure we were able to order promptly, and made sure we had everything we needed.
(an aside... we were seated in a room with another LARGE family group. One of the younger kids, as kids will do, suddenly got sick. The parents dealt with the child calmly, the servers made sure they had all the cleanup materials they needed. A few minutes later, the owner came to our table to apologize (!) for the child's digestive problems, and offered to move us to another area of the restaurant!! Dining companion and I were not too fussed about the situation (kids are kids are kids and we both have 'em) but it was very well done on the part of the owner to make the offer.)
Back to the food.... both meals were well-executed and well presented. Portions were AMPLE.
This review based on one visit only, but I would certainly return to this restaurant. Really nice people, good food, reasonable price.
Visited a few months ago, still have a positive mindset for this restaurant
It wasn't very busy when my dining companion and I arrived... service was friendly, prompt and impeccable. Being a Friday night, things got a little busier later in the evening - so it IS known as a good place to go for Italian.
Food was very good. I hate saying things like "pretty good for a town like Chilliwack", but I think it would stand up to many similar restaurants in the Lower Mainland.
Value? Expensive, but the food is good - fresh and well-prepared.
The room itself was spacious, subtly lit and clean. As were the washrooms.
Yes, I would go back again if I am in the area.
We ordered take out and when we got home we discovered how terrible the food was!
The fettuccine Alfredo with baked cheese was tasteless, just a blob of white goo. It was the worst I've ever eaten, Lean Cuisine would have tasted better!
The Pesto Chicken Penne was also flavorless and unappetizing, the chicken didn't look burned, but it tasted like it!
I emailed Boston Pizza, the manager got in touch with me and upon return of the uneaten food we were given a full refund! Not going back anytime soon!
This is a family style restaurant- We went there with no expectation to eat supper- Nice people-very considerate- Bland food- I had salmon and rice from the seniors menu- My wife a 6 oz steak- the steak was good but the vegetables and fries were reheated frozen food- They probably do better as a breakfast place. Sea food pasta dish was good but not hot.
I was very impressed with the Pho at the Galaxy. The broth is delicious and so flavourful. The chicken with black bean sauce on chow mein was excellent. I love the salad rolls too, the peanut sauce really gives them the flavor they need. Grilled chicken on rice was tasty, the chicken was moist and plentiful.
The restaurant is small, but if you are willing to share a table your wait won't be so long. I found the tables clean and well maintained. Forks are available for those not so adept with chopsticks :)
Prices are reasonable and the servings very generous.
The owner is accommodating and spends time with customers - nice to see.
I recommend the Pho Galaxy - if you don't know what to order try the Pho #2 or #3 chicken you won't be sorry.
This restaurant has a minimum debit charge of three dollars. I wanted a sausage roll and it came to 280 and they would not put it through on their debit machine, bad owners. It is a restaurant at a pool do you think people are you going to go there and have a whole meal, no, they're going to get out of the pool and would like a snack, not a whole meal come on don't be so cheap. I will definitely not recommend this to anyone nor will I ever buy my children anything there after the pool again. It's sad that they have to give up business because of their cheapness and not wanting to pay any debit fees.
A dozen of us were working in the Sardis area and one of the locals suggested Vedder Sushi for lunch. They managed to quickly assemble a large table for 12 in the upstairs part of the restaurant and promptly served us tea as we perused the menu. Once we ordered our individual lunches, miso soups came out and it took about 20 minutes for the sushi plates to start rolling out of the kitchen.
The servings were huge....the tempura plate was stacked high, the combos, bento boxes and specialty rolls were often more than one person could comfortably eat. And the quality was excellent. My nigiri plate was fresh and generous, with large slices of fresh salmon, tuna and poached cuttlefish and prawns, with a few variety nigiri thrown in for effect. We shared around so everyone got a taste of something different. The chef also sent out complementary samplings of some other rolls that I've never tried with beef and crab combos.
Everyone loved their lunch and there were doggie boxes for the leftovers. Price was very reasonable (ca $12-14 each before tip). Next time I'm in the Sardis area, I know where I'll be going for lunch.
Very unsatisfied with their customer service. They don't do anything about complaints and don't seem to care about their customers. The food is the same as all the other Domino's but the charge more so not as good of a value. They also charge more than the other Domino's in nearby cities. I will not be ordering from them ever again!!!
