Not Worth a Second Visit

Visiting Clark's was a mistake. It took forever to get a seat, menus and service. The service was slow and incompetent, the server walked around with plates of food, not knowing who he was to serve them to.
Now the food, that was not worth the money. The "Bowl" is a dish that combines potatoes & meats with eggs on top, the eggs came as fried over easy, the server didn't ask how we wanted the eggs, but it would have been too much time and trouble to send it back. I ordered waffles, they looked like frozen ones and were cold and tasteless, the syrup and butter were ice cold so it was not a very appealing meal to say the least. My waffles came when my daughter was half finished her meal.
We were never offered beverage refills, and by the time the server brought a spoon for the coffee it was too late, we used the knife. This restaurant seriously needs a makeover, it is drab and shabby.
No, we will never go back.

Our sports team went to an event and stayed at this hotel. The portions were inconsistent, since the pancakes had 4 pancakes, each around 6 inches in diameter, compared to 4 slices of baguette, for a $1 difference in price. There were four tables for the team. Two of the tables finished eating before we even got our food! We waited an hour for our food, and when it finally came, it was terrible! The pancakes were soggy, the 'fresh' strawberries tasted like they were frozen ones heated up, and it was supposed to come with whipped cream but it didn't. When the whipped cream finally came, it actually tasted good, I must say. My friend had french toast, and it was hard and dry. The servers showed no sympathy on how bad they were and how restless we were and other customers, who were waiting for an hour. We complained, and they didn't do anything. I saw three servers to take one bill to a table. We were late for our sports game, and we were supposed to have arrived 20 minutes earlier. I wouldn't come back, and not just for the wait, but for the service, the way the servers acted and the food quality. If you do come here, don't expect great stuff. Oh and by the way, the hot chocolate wasn't good hot chocolate. It tasted like the instant hot chocolate powder that you just add hot water to.
Just a tad too pricey, but the ambiance was nice and modern.

We had our staff Christmas party at Preston's. They had a nice set-up, quick and friendly service but that was about where the good stopped and the mediocre set in. While the appetizers were alright, they were a little under seasoned (the tomato and bocconcini salad was anyway). the "risotto" in the main was the consistency of mashed potatoes and tasted as salty as if they used packaged gravy in it. I felt sorry for the vegetarians as unfortunately their only option was a huge bowl of the risotto with nothing else to cut the one dimentional flavour. I had the chicken with the promise of it being stuffed with goat's cheese but there was nary a trace of it. Overall Preston's tried to impress with the menu but fell short with the actual execution of it therfore serving overpriced, badly done food. For $130 for one crappy 3 course meal and a few drinks I'll take my money elsewhere next time.

My Grandma's favorite restaurant ! This truly is a friendly place, where local seniors like my Grandma like to go because they feel welcome and at home. Solid family favorites and a good seniors menu at reasonable prices keep them coming back. It also doesn't hurt that the waitresses and owner greet the regulars by name ! Nothing fancy here but always welcoming.

Since moving to Chilliwack in the spring, we have tried many restaurants and Bravo has exceeded every other in the City. Definitely my first choice in dining out. It is hidden in a less than desirable area of town, but you immediately know you have found something unique when you walk through the door. The service was pleasant and the food tasted as good as it was plated. A favorite in the Valley.

We went for a mini staycation out to Chilliwack and went to this restaurant located in our hotel. I took the wife and kids because we saw there was a weekday special where kids eat free. We were promptly seated by a nice waitress. I had the Clubhouse sandwich. It came out absolutely perfect with juicy, hot pieces of Turkey and bacon. My wife ordered a BBQ bacon burger and it came stacked with juicy burger, bbq sauce, bacon and even a onion ring all on a soft toasted bun. She loved it and couldn't finish it so i had to help her out of course and i wouldn't complain about any part of it. The kids had the cheesy pasta alfredo and they loved every bite. It looked really cheesy and piping hot so they had to wait a minute for it to cool down but loved it nonetheless. Definately a place you'll want to check out.

I always enjoy the pasta dishes here; the lasagna is a good choice, but then again the fettucine alfredo with shrimp is another I like. All the meals have been delicious, I can't think of anything I haven't liked. The iced tea is fabulous, all frothy and icy.....mmmmm I really like the snack size meals, especially the calamari.

The Most Delicious Sweet & Sour Sauce!

I'd heard this restaurant was under new management so we decided to give it a try...........I'm sure glad we did! The owner; David was polite, friendly, very proficient and a wonderful chef. He does all the cooking himself, and his skills really shine in the quality of food he produces,
Although the decor needs to be updated, the meal definately made up for it!

The food was fabulous, especially the sweet and sour sauce, we had the Sweet and Sour Pork with Pineapple, it was nice and thick and had a dark red appearance, not like some thin traslucent ones. The flavour was fantastic, I could have it on everything!!
Other dishes we tried were also very delicious; Beef & Broccoli with Black Bean Sauce (homemade, not from a bottle), Honey Garlic Boneless Pork (this sauce was sticky, sweet and addictive), Spicy Ginger Beef - very crispy with just the right amount of heat, Prawns in Creamy Butter Sauce and the Lemon Chicken......Mmmmm this sauce was perfect. We also had standard chinese fare: stir fried veggies, fried rice and chow mein.

The price was acceptable for 6 people, about $22.00 per person including tea and soft drinks.
I highly reccomend The Orient, it is only a short drive to Cultus Lake from Chilliwack and absolutely worth it.
Had this restaurant been in a more central location I know it would be hard to get a seat a meal times!
David will pack everything to go for take out too, so you can call ahead and it will be ready when you get there.

So........take a drive to Cultus and enjoy some delicious Chinese Food.

Dissapointing

We went to the Duke for my mom's birthday, she wanted a place where she could get a Bellini and watch the game...that's pretty much the only thing they did right.

Food: We decided to order some appetizers before dinner so we got the artichoke dip and the bruschetta. The bruschetta was ok, the dip was BLAND. We ended up putting a load of salt in it just so we could eat it. For the mains, I ordered the Rain Forest Salad, the menu description made it sound delicious however the salmon that came with it was the smallest piece of salmon I have ever seen. It was literally an inch and a half wide. This was on a $15 salad that didn't come with anything else, no bread nothing. My sister got the wings and a side cesar, they were fine. My parents both got the sirloin and after a few bites my mom found that hers tasted a bit off. When the waitress asked her at the end how everything was she told her that it tasted tainted and the girl just looked at her and said "Do you want me to say something?" my mom was being too polite and just shrugged her shoulders and the girl just did a weird giggle and walked away. Nothing was done about it.

Drinks: My mom got her Bellini which looked pretty good but the rest of us got fountain drinks with the most disgusting pieces of lime on the rim. You could tell they had been sliced about a week previous as the entire rind was brown except for a small blotch of green in the middle. Needless to say the were removed from the glasses immediately. My iced tea was so sweet it made my throat tingle. I went for a margarita later on and it was average.

Service: Our waitress was vapid and only showed herself when she was bringing us food. We had to catch her as she was walking by just so we could get a refill. She had no interest in making sure we were happy. Between bringing us the bill and actually bringing over the debit machine we watched the last 10 minutes of the hockey game.

All in all, baaaad

Yuk in the 'Wack

I am not a fan of Whitespot. My niece wanted to go when I was visiting her in the Wack for her birthday. So off we went. The usual Whitespot "mystique" was carried out as usual when we arrived looked in the window from outside and saw 1/2 the restaurant was empty. But of course, the perky and dumb hostess says "can I get your name there's a 15 mintue or so wait". Why - half the freakin tables were empty??!! Al the lemmings were lined up to get their triple o fix I guess. I would not have graced them with my business if my neice had not wanted to stay. Twenty minutes later I'm pizzed when I see people who came in after me being seated. Genius hostess says "Oh I guess you didn't hear my call you". No because you didn't and I was sitting right in front of you the whole time.

We finally sit and order without incident. But, as usual, the food is gross. The fries in the kid's pirate pack were almost burt and inedible. The onion rings were so greasy I just about barfed after two. And the veggie burger was completely unmemorable.

I really would rather go to McDOnalds for under $10 than pay over $35 for this mess. Please, please go away Whitespot nobody likes you anymore. You're like the creepy old uncle that everyone's nice to because you used to be great, even though now you're weird and smell bad.

WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE !
The B.C. "Eggs Bene" plate was PERFECT.....My Burger was NOT Overcooked and the fries were hot and crisp.
It was Saturday morning...but the service was still Fast and Friendly.
THIS should indeed be "The Flagship" Outlet for Earls!

Great Home-made Salad dressings, I had the Reuben Sandwich, it was good. Of course, you have to try the Home-made pies-- Delicious!! Must try place when in Chilliwack!!!

My Daughter and I went here for breakfast, there was no wait. We were seated, given menus and served our beverages of choice right away. The meals were plentiful and tasty. I had an "lite" omelet (the works) with toast and nice crispy hashbrowns. My daughter had the Waffle Big Breakfast. Everything was prepared well and served promptly. Our server was friendly and topped up our beverages often.
We will come back again, there is no doubt.

My husband and I ate here a few weeks ago for dinner. The overall ambiance in the restaurant was good but that's where it ends. In short, we ordered an appetizer (potato skins, I believe) and it took over an hour for it to be served. When it finally came, the restaurant manager, begins to ask us how our food was. We told her that after over an hour of waiting, we had just begun eating our appetizer. She seemed to be expecting a compliment and was shocked we didn't give her one. She then says, "Well you're not in a hurry, so just have a seat and wait." She is a terrible manager! During that hour wait, I watched her staff at the bar make fun of her when she almost took one of them down. We watched as people who were seated after us were served, ate their meals, and left. We were about to leave when our veggie burgers were served and they were TERRIBLE! Definitely not worth the wait, you are better off eating the veggie burger at A&W. This place really sucks, and you should spend your money where there is actual service and the food is better.

My wife and i have come here twice before and had a pleasant experience....but this time the service was laclustre and the food took forever to come out.(maybe because they overcooked it).
We asked the waitress how things were going..she felt it was her duty to fill us in on company gossip(very unprofessional) and she told us the old hotel chef left and that the new chef wasn't as good ,as well they fired the restaurant chef and manager and since then things were'nt as good.
the food was so so service was terrible and slow...as a chef myself i probrably won't come back for a while ....frankies is a way better resto and more affordable.

If you are driving out in the valley, it is well worth it to stop into this gem. We are talking solid diner food and absolutely incredible slices of many different flavours of home made pie. Went for lunch on, and waiting in a moderate line up while tables were turned, had a very good sized lunch, and could not leave without trying some of their pies. There is a large selection of different baked treats to choose from, and if you order ahead even whole pies to take home. Incredible value, and worth the drive our of greater Vancouver.

Holy HST! $50 For Two Small Pizzas!
By LemonPepper of Langley (6 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, September 5, 2010 - 6:58pm [Dine in]

Haven't been to B/P for ages....got the hankering for pizza on the way home from a day out in the valley.

I started out with the side caesar salad. Wasn't bad for a chain. The romaine was crisp and fresh, and there was enough dressing to cover every bite. My friend did not order an appy or salad.

Then it was onto the main course. My partner ordered the small "Deluxe" pizza. I ordered a small choose your own toppings pizza (pineapple and shrimp).

Both were a disappointment; thought there would be more topping than crust on the deluxe version.

We did not have anything else other than Diet Pepsi for me and iced tea for my friend.

The bill was hard to swallow - $49.06! HST was $5 and change. So, with the tip, was over $50 for a few bites of pizza and salad washed down with soda pop and iced tea.

It will be a cold day in a pizza oven before we ever go back to Boston.
NOT WORTH IT! Next time I get a hankering for pizza, I think I'll just drop into the nearest Safeway and get one from their deli or the frozen section....and no HST either.

I have been here twice now, and I have been impressed each time with the quality and quantity of the food.
The entrees are served in little copper bowls over a candle heated warmer. I love the fact that your food stays warm, and that there is enough for second helpings or lunch the next day.
Veggie Pakoras made a great appetizer, we ate them up pretty quickly.
We had the Butter Chicken and Chicken Saag each with the Rice Pilau - both were delicious with just the right amount of heat for each of us. We also had Garlic Naan, it was perfect for sopping up the sauce. With 1 soft drink and no dessert our bill was about $40.00.
It is a small venue but with traditional Indian decor it added nicely to the ambiance. It was softly lit and the music was contemporary, not too loud or annoying. The server was pleasant, friendly and attentive.
I will come again and perhaps try out something from the seafood menu.

When will this chain finally go bankrupt????
By princess123 of poco (88 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 7:51pm [Dine in]

I always say I will never go back but circumstances often make it difficult. I get a lot of gift cards given to me plus I often get guest certificate or cards from the chain to make up for lousy experiences. So, witha guest certificate in hand I tried this Whitespot after a dismal experience at the Marine drive location where the kids pirate packs came with no boat, no coin, a huge beer mug of juice and no explanation. There were also not give the promo 2 for 1 coupons for local attractions as advertised,

This location fared no better. The server was very slow and had to come back and ask the same questions 2 or 3 times. When I ordered dessert I ordered a coffee too. It did not come when the dessert came. I reminded her. It still did not come. It was of course on the bill and I had to get to her take it off. I gave my guest certificate with the bill to pay. It was for $30 and said it excluded payment for alcohol. It did not say thatit did not include payment for tax. It appeared to be worth $30 toward the bill nor did it say it was for only one transaction. When I got the bill back she had taken off only the amount of the food, no tax and there was a a large difference between what the value was and the amount. Nothing was said so I basically lost the rest of the amount. I once AGAIN did not receive the 2 for 1 attraction coupons nor was I offered any. I had seen her offer them to 2 other tables earlier.

Also, the food I had packed up was all packed together so some dip (no lid) spilled all over the kid`s grilled cheese(went into garbage) and the side of coleslaw that was left was over 1 cup and all I got was some teeny little dip container full. . The kids said the cold leftover fries tasted like raw chicken.

What a rip off this place is - hope I learn this time.

Casual style dining with tasty food

On our way to Minter Gardens, we stopped by this downtown restaurant in Chilliwack for lunch. On entering, we found this is a casual style, neighbourhood restaurant. The décor inside was sort of modern and looked pretty decent; the tables were not crammed and the seats were quite comfy. I ordered a Beef Melt Dip lunch entrée which also came with mashed potatoes and soup. The Cream of mushroom soup was just right, not too thick nor salty. The beef was served with sautéed onion which together with the melted cheese made the burger very tasty. The waitress was pretty responsive even though she was busy serving other customers as well. She actually stopped by a couple times and asked us how we were doing.

Overall, it was a very nice restaurant to visit. If ever I am in that area again, I would be happy to go back.
