I had my party here and service was terrible. Servers wont do anything unless you ask them too or didnt even serve the guest, they dont even help us to move some stuff. They rarely help us decorate, and they rather serve the small party or walk in rather the big party . FYI, it was a big party, there was a hundred people and I rented also one of the rooms and I paid for it for the whole day but they were kicking us out or keep asking to pack up our thing coz apparently walk ins/ maybe party is coming. The girl night manager is rude and even raised her voice when we were asking why walk in going to buffet first. They dont have patience. One thing for sure, im not coming back here again. I dont recommend to throw your big party here.
Here's my order: 1 egg roll to start w/ the dumpling sauce. Chicken pad thai with extra chicken and broccoli added. Replace half the noodles with extra bean sprouts. Then I would add, i'm not kidding, about 10 tablespoons of crushed peanuts and probably a 15 second blast of Sriracha rooster sauce. Mix it all up and enjoy. Tell me that's not the best thing you've had in a long time. Don't forget to use chopsticks.
The nutritional content of the description above averaged out to about 2000 calories. Serious pad thai sweats. And all for less than $10. Look out.
Me and My GF went there on a sunny weekend. What can i say about this place. Ostria is just what you are looking for Italian Food. This place will awesome. All the servants are really quick and amiable. they are fun to talk with. They have really nice decoration. Each and every aspect of restaurant is just perfect. Be it Food, Decoration, Service , Price... We ordered Following things:
Appetizers: Prosciutto Melone (Will surely make you hungry)
Soup: Minestrone alla Osteria (Awesome in taste)
Salad: Insalata alla Osteria (Must try)
Main course: Lingue alla Vongole, Scaloppina Maria Helena (Just loving it, yummm)
Desert: Cassata Siciliana (Perfect ending)
They have really nice wine collection. Prices are quite in range and affordable. Thumbs up !!
Ordered there new gluten free pizza with my familys pizza tonight and when it came to the door only one pizza was in the box. We called to see what had happened and the lady said we would contact the guy. They never contacted us back we had to call 3 times, we called back about 1hour later to figure out that the pizza HAD NEVER been made and nor had it been started the second time.. Funny thing is the gluten free pizza was on the receipt the first delivery. Anyways ill be contacting your head department to further this, Because they tryed to give us a credit for pizza 73 instead of refunding the money. Total crap and will never order here again.
We popped in for a Saturday meal after Beerfest, wanting to grab something a bit farther away from all of the hubbub of 17th on a weekend. Turns out, Fiddlers Courtyard was an ideal spot for that. It wasn't overly busy and we had our choice of booths or tables. Service was excellent, the room is cozy and there are plenty of friendly locals. Great menu - great beers on tap - what more could you ask for? My vindaloo chicken was on a bed of dried out rice with a few slices of chicken and about a tablespoon of vindaloo sauce with microwaved frozen corn on the side and dollops of microwaved frozen spinach around the plate...yuck! The menu said the sauce contained broccoli and potatoes of which It did not. The mini yorkies which used to be fabulous, were not mini and were very bland. The quesadila was poorly presented and not flavorful. BTW, ALL of our meals were cold.
Just try once if u have no option.
What can I say? Terrific butter chicken, wonderful naan bread, and a really cool dessert ! The name of which escapes my wee brain right now....Its a very nice change of taste as it is a fusion of north african and indian cusine. Ordered the BBQ platter, halibut korma and okra curry. All seasoned medium/one chili.
Foodwise the curries were on point. Korma was delicious, creamy and you could taste the pistachios and cashews. I love okra but have a great fear of cooking/cleaning it. So when i saw it on the menu, I ordered it and it was fantastic, spicy..
Basically, Safari Grill is African/Indian Cuisine. Dishes consist of 1) meat/vegetables, 2) sauce (generally a curry type) and 3) carbohydrate (naan, rice, cassava). In my party of 9 we tried many things and everything was excellent.
In my search for authentic East African cuisine, this is the place. Oh, and don't mind the decor - just eat!
Went out for dinner to China Rose for the first time last week and I was amazed to discover this awesome family restaurant. First impressions, this place was clean and well kept. I went for the lunch buffet with a friend that has been here many times and swears by the food. I absolutely loved it. My plate alone consisted of the following: ginger beef, palace style chicken, mixed vegetables, chow mein noodles, sweet and sour pork, pork dumplings, fried rice, mushrooms in black bean sauce, shrimp in black bean sauce, chicken wings and a bowl of hot and sour soup. I loved the decoration. They also play really nice music in background and all the servants are very attentive. They will help you a lot. This place is always busy. Thumbs up to visit this place for sure.
Food is good for a food court but service is terrible. If the owner ever reads this, fire the staff!! They are rude, one Asian staff member is particularly awful. She rushes you, doesn't answer questions, rolls her eyes and is generally terrible. I witnessed them treating an elderly couple terribly. Will not return.
I loved everything about the China rose restaurant. I visited this restaurant once with my friends and now usually order through the phone. The food, especially from the traditional menu is sumptuous and my favorite is crab puffs. Another must try is the China Rose Special Duck that is tender with an awesome flavor and is also not too spicy. Not only this, whenever I call the staff is very friendly and I also get to choose from their daily specials.
My parents and I came here and being a picky eater I was hesitant....BUT I was so impressed. The service was great and they were so much accommodating. The food was so good. I really enjoyed it and so did my folks. Would recommend this place (you have got to go). I had the best fish....it was cooked in coconut milk and I loved it.
I just love their ribs. You would not want to miss their masala mogo(deep fried cassava in crushed tomatoes and spices) also, unique and full of flavors. It really is addicting and i also love the way me and my friends become acquinted with the owner and the staff. They provide awesome service.
This might turn out to be a long review, but please bear with me:
My sister and I ate at this restaurant two nights ago and we had a pretty awful experience. She had eaten here a couple times with no issue before, but she had always gotten the same dish. That night I did not feel like eating the dish that she suggested (the portions here are pretty generous, so this dish easily fed two) so we opted for other dishes. I had ordered Curry Chicken Rice and she had the Seafood Noodles.
Admittedly, my food was pretty tasty, but my sister said her noodles had way too much sauce in it and that it was incredibly salty. We called our waiter over and she kindly asked for it to be taken back. Their manager comes out of the kitchen with the dish and tries to get my sister to take it back. She said and I quote, "We in the kitchen all tried it and it's not too salty. The dark colour is from the oyster sauce that we use to flavour the noodles and it is perfectly seasoned." My sister protests that she did indeed try it and was that it was just deemed too salty from the colour. The manager looked pretty angry/frustrated and just walked away.
Instead of remaking the dish, she orders Roasted Quail w/ Rice, and they take at least 40 mins to bring out her new dish (the place was not busy) and her rice had been pretty dry and stale/old tasting. The night had already been soured, so she decided not to say anything. While we were eating, we could hear the workers in the back gossiping in the back about us (we sat right beside the kitchen), granted this part was anecdotal, but was extremely unprofessional and was just another sour note on our already dampened experience.
After we finish up, we got up to pay and we find out that they had charged us for the dish that she had sent back. Instead of protesting or making a scene (there were other people behind us waiting to pay), we decided to just quickly pay and leave.
My sister ordered a dish and it was too salty, she kindly asked for it to be taken back, the manager came out and argued with her to try to get her to finish it. After ordering a different dish, they take 40 minutes to bring it out to her and her new dish was less than sublime. When we went to pay they charged her for the dish that she took one bite of.
Please don't eat here, there are plenty of (especially in YYC) fantastic places to get Vietnamese cuisine.
Definitely do not recommend.
I loved the relaxed atmosphere, the music they have on while eating is cool to listen to. We have to wait 30 mins to be seated because the place is packed but worth it! The lumpiang sariwa, Bicol express, sinigang tanigue, ginatang hipon and crispy pata garlic was fantastic and we really enjoyed the BBQ ribs. To my surprise there's only few Filipino customers most are Caucasian and I ask one of the customer beside us how's your food and she replied, we're 7 seas regulars and they love the flavor of the food here. After we ate I agreed with them 200% the food and service is great! Fantastic!
There is no word to describe the food... It was absolutely amazing and the flavour was incredibly delicious. The service was great and friendly staff. Our server has suggested some dishes we were unfamiliar with and we were very pleased with our meals.
The presentation of the dishes are world class - appetizingly beautiful.
The value is just about right for being in Calgary as seafoods are a bit pricey!
Can't wait to go back for some more!
We recommend this place very highly..stop by and try their food. The grill platter, crispy pata garlic and sinigang tanigue was so yummy. The server will suggest specialties from their great selections. Selections are not just seafood but meat and veggies. We ordered their tempura and calamari for appetizer and it was so good. Everything was expertly prepared and delicious. Will surely come back for more.
Went thru drive thru asked for extra toppings paid for extra toppings and maybe got a quarter of toppings. When I tries to call and complain no one picked up. I don't know how this location is still open no one there gives good customer service. What a joke! I will never go back there again!!
We've heard mixed things about ric's grill and thought we would give it a try while visiting friends in town. Firstly we waited far too long for drinks and then the food came out luke warm at best. Our waiter was no where to be seen and we left before the "complementary" dessert hit the table. We will not be back.
New Ownership. Now a Bad Restaurant
There is recently been a change in ownership. The food is now terrible and the prices are higher. I will never go there again. Was there January 2013. The menus have been hand altered with higher prices. When we went the place was empty. Service was very weak.
AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!!
Confused between a Indian or a Pizza get the best of both world , I was very surprised how tasty this was a cultural mix that tickled the taste buds, It was fresh and warm , If you’ve never had something like this before, you’re probably skeptical about this one, and hey, I hear you–it does sound weird, but if you like Indian food, I promise you, this is a joy to eat. This to me is a every day pizza where every element of the pizza has been revitalized and revisited. 11/10 Can highly recommend.
I recently went to Ducky`s to meet a couple of friends coming from an office Christmas party. After my friend had bought the first round, I went to the bar to get water for the two of us. The bar-tender responded with ``if you plan to drink water all night, I`m going to have to charge you for it.`` I had ordered one water from the bar, and, remembering that I had forgotten my friend, went back to order another. Apparently, ordering two waters in a row is against the rules at Ducky`s and elicited this wholly inappropriate reaction. I was taken aback by the rudeness of the bar-tender and returned, speechless, to the table. I implore all those reading this review to rethink their choice of bar, and find another place to satisfy their karaoke cravings. Ducky`s has no consideration for customer service, and cynically views every patron as just another item on their daily balance sheet.
If you are looking for bars with karaoke everyday, I would recommend Nanta on 6th St. Down-town. It's more authentic, and the bartenders do not chastise you for ordering a glass of tap water. Avoid Ducky's if you can.
