I've been here twice for their delicious, freshly made waffles. I get their Belgian style, and it comes with a bit of ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and an assortment of berries. The price is right, though it takes a while as they are made to order. They also have fruit slushes - I had the pineapple, and next time, I'll ask them not to sweeten it as much. I can't wait to return!
Why would a "Manager" treat regular customers so poorly?
The roasted chicken tasted terrible and was very spongy. It did not have any flavor and the texture was very unpleasant.
First the server had put the wrong items on the sandwich when asked such as the wrong sauce and was very stingy with all the ingredients unlike all the other subways we have been to.
Still we expected to have a good tasting sandwich but unfortunately the sandwich tasted horrible especially with the wrong sauce and this spongy, tasteless, so-called "chicken". Awful, Could not eat it. Returned the next day with the other half and and servers said no to a refund then talked to the Manager who was rude and said oddly that he cannot do any refunds the next day after a purchase. We had this sandwich before in the past but now according to this manager we find out this roasted chicken is made with filler. It may have also been a bad batch or old. Whatever the reason, the manager said that a complaint the next day is not honored. ???? This is very odd and surprising. He even picked it apart with his un-gloved fingers and of course this necessitates a substitute or refund. He would not even offer a refund of my money and after arguing and trying to intimidate he only gave a half a sandwich in return.
Very dissatisfied at the rudeness and poor customer relations and poor quality. We had not experienced this at a Subway restaurant before. This bad treatment is a good way to scare away customers. Subway headquarters would probably not be pleased.
This is unprofessional. A manager should give his regular customers the benefit of the doubt otherwise why in the world would someone bring in their sandwich and not have eaten it????
Customers be warned.
Been going for years now. The owners and staff always greet me and my business associates, family and friends with a genuine warm welcome, followed by delicious cuisine and great music.
Minoa's is a true gem in the city.
The food is always fresh and delicious. The salads are crisp and the food always prepared perfectly.
My favourites are pastitio, stuffed peppers and saganaki.
My friends like the fried livers and traditional Greek dishes.
There is ample parking in the back.
It is nice to walk up well-worn slightly creaky stairs (reminds me of my grandparent's home in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan) and be greeted with a smile by the owners.
Best place to sit for private conversations and intimate dates in on the enclosed balcony.
My husband and I had planned to try this restaurant out because I purchased a Social Shopper coupon which can be used on weekends. So I called the restaurant at 8:30 PM today and asked if my husband and I can make reservations for 9:00 PM and the lady I spoke with said they don't take reservations but she said it was a quiet evening so they can easily accommodate two people as long as we get there before 10:00 PM. So we drove down to the restaurant and got there at around 9:05 PM, they host tells us that they cannot take us in after 9:00 PM because they are having a big Halloween party. I explained to her that I had spoken with another lady about half an hour earlier and she said that it should not be a problem. The other lady came out and explained that she made a mistake and apologized that they are not able to take us in. I was obviously very frustrated and disappointed with this that they have wasted our time driving all the way down and back for nothing!
I did not even get a chance to taste their food, but maybe I'm better off than the ones who have tried. :) To the ones still wanting to try this place, BEST OF LUCK!
We came here tonite for AYCE hotpot! it is AYCE so we were super excited. We got a table right away even though we did not make a reservation.
Let's start by the greeting..
We were greeted by a lady in suit. Must be the manager. She wasn't friendly but polite enough. Then our servers came and 2 of them serving our table instead of one. As for our servers, we can not applaud them enough for their outstanding customers service. They work hard and always smiling. They all wear name tags and I felt terrible for not remembering their names. Which put me in a curious thinking mode. Hummmm should the managers lighten up just like their hard working staff? To the managers YOU SHOULD!
Food... Everything is fresh and abundant! There are so many choices to choose from. They even served you AYCE cooked food! and their sticky rice is very good!
However, just a tiny thing that bothers me a bit is that you have to pay for hot sauce, cilantro and onions. They are $.50 cents per item. This part I'm scratching my head....
But overall we had a great hot pot time and the service was excellent! Thank you our 2 ladies servers!
So really what the fuss is all about?!
this place is located in the food court at lougheed town centre. Decided to have 2 slices: the deluxe and bacon pizza. it was an average size, thinner crust $1.79 each slice. the deluxe consisted of green pepper, pepperoni, beef balls, cheese & the bacon one also had sliced mushrooms on it. Its supposed to be healthier for you compared to pizza hut pizza. It was fairly fresh tasting and decent topping but I still prefer the deep dish pan pizza hut pizza as their crust is tastier and more filling..
The food here is great. The sushi is well made and sashimi always fresh, although nothing special. The ambiance is what you'd expect from a regular Japanese restaurant.
I wish I could say that I would like to come back to this restaurant but unfortunately I wouldn't because of their service.
I was here at Sushi Oyama with a group of friends and we had decided to split our bills. I got to the cashiers to pay with my interact card but then soon realized I had lost my receipt so I waited in line to pay. When I got to the cashier I told her that I had lost my bill. She told me to wait a minute and then processed the bill of two more customers after me. Getting tired of waiting, I asked her again if she could reprint me my bill so I can pay. She ignored me and went on to the next customer. After that customer I asked again. This time she told me in a rude voice that she was busy and that she would get to me eventually. I finally got to pay after the last customer in the line had payed. It was terrible. I waited for about five or six bills to be processed before I could pay.
I understand that they were busy but I don't find it any way appropriate to shrug a customer off and even more to scold a customer like that.
In conclusion, the food was good but the service was terrible. Perhaps my experience could have been a very rare instance for them but it is inexcusable.
I usually order take out here because it's actually got solid food, great portions and they do seafood pasta quite well. However since our last visit for dine in the service has SERIOUSLY down graded. We arrived and we were seated promptly but after our waitress had taken our orders we rarely saw our waitress, she attended to the table near us fairly well yet we waited over half an hour for our food and I had to leave the table to find staff to ask where our food was. After we ate our shares we again waited.. and waited.. finally I asked another staff member if we could have the food packed up and the bill to our table. The food was packed very quickly but the bill? Well we again waited... until finally we just approached the counter at the front and payed.
Our server also didn't stop by our table once to ask during the meal or our wait if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our meals.
Ambiance.. well the place was freezing and my dad had to wear his jacket.
Now I've worked in the restaurant industry so I'm actually fairly calm, patient and understanding when it comesto anything with getting some food at any establishment and like I said I've never had a problem here before. So I'm not sure if it was just that the waitress was new or not quite up to the task or if its actually just gone down. I'll leave that up to you. We left a tip, obviously a small one but not so small that it was insulting and we decided we wouldn't be back for dine in (ill definately do take out anytime though).
Ate here two or three times, always more than enough food for the price, always left full. Have done their takeout, which the menu does not seem to be available online sadly. Most entre's under 13 dollars, and take out most things are $11.
But the main thing is the tastes in the food. Excellent flavourful, ingredient filled curries. Truly excelling in quality, with little details such as cilantro on the masla potatoes (melt in your mouth). I have had delicious lamb, beef kebabs that tasted as if slow roasted on a spit all day, juicy and filling. Lentil soup, complimentary delicious chip things, the list goes on. They have an interesting take on channa, if you are used to the east indian versions. It was quite unique. It reminds me of Ethiopian food, albeit more approachable. Most dishes served with rice and naan.
As for the restaurant, its quite elegant inside with a bar and lots of banquet tables. They have a small patio but as it under-looks canada way, its pretty crappy. We drove by this place many times, before deciding to go in, and now we have been back a few times. I really just thought it was some sort of diner, not at all flavourful indianesque cuisine. It has been packed as well as empty, so you might want to call ahead. Remember to take a take out menu for your next visit. You will go back. Especially if you live in the neighbourhood. Reminds me of a fusion place as well. An undiscovered gem :) 4 stars
I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Coffee was mediocre at best. The staff were more interested in their personal "texting" devices then taking my order. Too many students with laptops no where to sit. I had to take my order to go. Move on ...
My wife and I had dinner here on a Friday night. Food was average and service was below average. Not once did the server came by and refill our water. With many Italian restaurants in the city, I won't waste my time and money coming back to this place again.
I ordered the prawn and vegetable chow mein and the crispy ginger beef. I was told my order would take an hour. The food was already pretty cold when I arrived (10 mins after they called to tell me it was ready). When I got the food home, there was only 6 small prawns and almost no veggies in the chow mein, Many of the ginger beef pieces had no actual beef in them. They just tasted like crispy pieces of batter.
I called to let them know about the lack of substance in the chow mein and the taste of the ginger beef. The owner was incredibly rude and raised his voice repeatedly even though I was very polite. I was told that if I didn't like it I should not come back, which I certainly won't be doing. It would have been fine had they apologized (I wasn't even asking for my money back) but given the terrible customer service on top of the poor food quality I will not be going back despite being a semi-regular customer previously.
I was excited to be going to Shanghai Elan. I'd heard that they had the best Chinese donuts in Vancouver, and I know they're greasy and not good for you, but I love them so much. At Congee Noodle King they are wonderful, so when my friend said that at Shanghai Elan they're even better, I was skeptical but psyched. No, no, noooooo! They were out of Chinese donuts. My friend said that's OK, try the smoked fish appetizer. She loves it. Her friends love it. Yes, they were out of that too. But I was in a great mood because I had fallen in love with the server, and when you're in love it's all good. My friend and I shared a whole sweet and sour rock cod, which was fresh and daring in its sweetness. The sauce on its own was too sweet, but matched with the fish the combo took fish and sauce to a higher level, something I would not have thought possible because the sauce was so sweet. Brilliant. Daikon pastries - good, but daikon could have had more flavour. Leek turnovers with egg - delicious.
Soymilk soup - served not hot enough, and not much more than soymilk, the kind you drink in a cup. But obviously fresh and high-quality. Still, wouldn't order it again. Colourful menu, great location...overall, we enjoyed ourselves, but there were disappointments.
This is the first yakiniku place in Burnaby and my wife and I were eager to try it out. The restaurant is clean and the staff were pleasant enough, but we can't recommend the food.
The meat is delivered frozen and not marinated at all, instead relying on the dipping sauces to add flavour. The quantity of meat on each platter was also too little for the price, and was smaller than displayed on the menu.
We ordered bibimbap as well, which was decent but not as good as at the nearby Jang Mo Jib.
If you're intolerant to smoke then you'll want to avoid this place for other reasons, since the vent hoods above each grill are too small and occasionally the entire room became filled with it.
The next time I crave yakiniku I'll be going to Gyu-kaku instead.
Perhaps it was a busy night but the service was extremely poor. Our appetizer AND dessert were forgotton; we had to ask for our menu; we had to ask for our bill; and no one checked on how we were enjoying our meal. We were there for 2 hours! And, apart from a lame apology, there was nothing offered to make it better i.e. to comp one of our drinks etc.
Hi everyone... I and my two sons ate here today and had the worst food that a greek
restaurant serves... This restaurant is in the Entertainment book coupon so its two for one and that may explain why the food we selected on the menu was terrible...
first the calmari and greek salad was satisfactory but when we order our favourite greek lamb kleftico (which is the shoulder lamb) to our dismay its was a dish with scraps of lamb meat , pile of rice and half of a potato... We have been to many many Greek restaurants in the Vancouver area and always order the Kleftico which is a large roasted lamb shoulder with all the trimmings bones etc.. and very juicy BUT
at this restaurant the dish as noted had dried lamb mashed meat scraps with rice and one small potatoe...I can assure you that we did went to this restaurant before and had the juicy bone large shoulder lamb...so I think this restaurant is cutting corners and serving poor unappetizing kleftico as note here...scraps of mashed meat...
When I ask the waitress whats this and where is the juice shoulder lamb with the bones she said that the meat falls off the bones and they dish it out... I say that portion control and dries out the meat....
I will not recommend this restaurant and certainly for 17.00 a plate of lamb scraps on rice is not what I envision of a Kleftico shoulder of lamb....
There are other greek restaurants in town that served the traditional lamb Kleftico...
The lamb scraps on the dish were so unappetizing and dried up I just told them to box it and take it home ....did not enjoy eating here
They are always always always busy so I always have to wait forever ...after eating there couple times .I learn one thing that is ....go around 4 pm then it will save you a lot of times.
I always order the sushi sasumi combo. there sushi and sasumi is always fresh and big !! They don't have super tasty rolls but they are cheap and filling ^^.
Overall, if you want to have a good value fresh sushi, this place is a very good choise !
The servers are just too busy to give you 5 stars service, come on !! They are human too !! give them a break !!
I thought it was pretty fun cooking my steak on the stone >< ...not very tasty cuz it comes with only a little sauce but at least the food is freash !
The regular price is not very cheap but my bf and I happend to get lucky becasue they are having this promotion that is $ 49 dollars combo.....we had steak, BIG salmon....prawns and other stuff ...and a salad. so it turn out to be pretty good deal !
Our server is so cute, she was very sweet and chatty....
hmm ...the ambiance is ok.......its in the mall ....not so much view ...and a very weired LONG entrance LOL
and I was actually very suprise that they have very cheap burger !! ( the next table ordered it ...looks GOOD) I think if i go back I wanna try the burger ><
We have been to this location a few times lately. The wait between 6 - 7pm varies from 5 - 20 minutes on the weekend. Service in general is good unless you pick the few servers who are usually grouchy. The food comes very fast and sashimi is fresh. They have a lot of selection in the menu. Maki rolls with mango or papaya taste refreshing. I also recommend their seafood salad.
They don't take reservation and you won't be seated until your entire table has arrived. There are very limited parking spots outside the restaurant but rooftop parking is plenty.
We like this place a lot, always yummy and great service. Take out or dine in, its always a good time here! Waitress/hostess are always pleasant to talk to! I love the veggie sushi combo and the yam tempura appetizer. The chicken katsu and the beef teriyaki are great dishes!
