This place is SO much better than it used to be. They've updated the menu, got a lot of new staff, as well as great new chef/operator. If you've tried it before and didn't like it, give it another shot. It's much improved. (The ambiance was always nice and still is.)
In my experience, this restaurant has poor customer service. The staff are not customer service oriented which I would have expected them to be since they are in a customer service industry. A server can make or break an otherwise okay experience. Here, the service did not help make my impression of this restaurant favorable in the slightest! The food is good and the ambiance is nice (although a paint touch up might be in order), but if you are looking to be talked to in a pleasant manner, I would recommend finding somewhere else to dine.
Describing individual dishes are point-less, because they are typical dishes you find in other hundreds of sushi places.
Their tempura dishes and some hot items need some improvement. However, sushi and sashimi are of good quality.
When you consider value, presentation, service, quaility and quantity of food. This restaurant is the best, not just in Burnaby, but also in Greater Vancouver. Just try their $20 deluxe sashimi platter, you will understand what I mean.
I don't know what happened, first time we had been here. We have been to other Swiss Chalet's in the past and it was great but tonight it started from the beginning. It wasnt even busy it was before the busy time of the night and some of the waiters were standing around and talking. During our ime there we had about 4 different waiters coming around us i couldn't keep track of them all. First thing that happened we ordered our drinks we ordered a beer a pop two tea's and two waters's. not very difficult i think, but no first the tea's were the wrong kind and there was a huge mess trying to get new water and she never took the old ones away. then the waiter gave us plates that had a big wad of something gross it was NOT clean. we got a new plate. service was slow. the waiters always seemed confuse, saw a couple checking phones. My mom ordered a Festive dinner or something and ended p getting basically a quarteer chicken dinner they had messed up and forgot the stuffing and sauce, never cleaning away the old dishes. the waitress came back with a plate with a little bit of cranberry sauce and some stuffing thing was the stuffing was not fluffed or anything she said it was good but it had still been in the ball shape of the scooper and plopped on the plate. at the end it was about a 90 dollar bill the food in all was not worth that money. i was like, heres the food, heres the bill get out we want nothing to do with you anymore. also the set up was weird from our table we could see directly into the kitchen and the noise the whole time was unbelievable.
I don't concur at all with the previous reviews at all. You can get a daily curry special for a very reasonable price, I find the food quality to be satisfactory, im not expecting amazing for the price and location. I don't think there is any way you could vote the price to be a 1... I suggest trying it at least once before going by reviews.
I am a sushi lover. Been for years. Sushi of high quality three times a month will not give me room and thought for pause. They have the best sushi quality price and value here. Often the diners (like staff) is Japanese and they giove you the 'we know what we are doing we are born doing this ' look. Great date or family restaurant sure
I came here on a friday night around 6:00 with my father, parking was easy to find around the corner and the place was empty. They gave us some tea when we sat, place looks nice inside.

I had the $8 Salmon Ceviche - The flavors are good but there's an issue, when I'm biting into cold salmon and it's slightly frozen in the center and I'm biting into ice crystals I'm not happy.
He had the $8 Papaya Salad and loved it.

I had the $17 Tamarind Duck - Once again this tastes good but there are some fatty/gristle pieces.
He had the $14 Pork Ribs and loved it.

I had the $5 Coffee Ice Cream - This tastes good but there is a texture issue, feels like slightly over churned/flaky ice cream, not smooth and creamy.
He had the $8 Garden Parfait and loved it.
So with us each having an appy, entree and dessert (no need to order drinks since they had the nice pot of tea on our table) the bill comes to $67.20 taxes in.

Some advice.. When you are making 2 appies try to time it properly. Don't bring out 1 right away and make the other person wait 10 minutes for theirs, bring them out together at the same time.
Went here on a weekday and the place looks great. The wood fired pizza oven is right by the entrance with an open kitchen to the side. Long bar in the back with some sort of wine storage system for opened bottles. Great renovation job since the last resto. Seated by the window and place is not that big, they have some large tables made out of large timbers and some outdoor seating. They have a few big screens for the sport fans. Ordered an arugla salad with bacon, blue cheese, nuts - very good, then shared a meatball ricotta pizza - good with the thin crust but gets a big soggy if left for a bit and shared a meat sauce pasta - good but would of preferred fresh pasta instead of the dried. Service was great wtih attentive service and frequent checks. Would come back to try the other pizzas.

Food: Just the way it should be. Perfect temperature, No semi-frozen tuna or salmon usually indicates slow or no business. Most importantly, it's not "westernized" with tons of Japanese mayonnaise. You will notice you will not feel thirsty afterwards because of the over use/ mixture of mayonnaise. it's the MSG. If you ever been to japan, This is as close it'll get.
Service: They are a nice japanese couple and very japanese cultured. Expect the service to be polite and quiet. They've been in business for over 9 years here. They must be serving something right. when you order they'll take your order and come back to you when it's done. Please be patient with the 5 other "takeout" orders waiting to be picked up. Tea is self served, that's OK.
Value: If you normally dine at those other japanese restaurant chains"usually, Chinese, Korean,Vietnamese owners, you'll notice the size is not comparable about 1/3 smaller, and not full of mayonnaise. It tasted good, temperature was right. you will not feel overstuffed. Price wise .. you have to figure out your intention before going in..Prices are comparable to other, but remember, You want to pay for food quality, this is the place, you want to pay for quantity, this isn't for you.
Ambiance: Very clean, simple and bright. you can have a nice quiet sit in without a crowd. No overhead 46 inch flat screen TV or glaring music to distract you or the company you are with. We started a conversation with the owner/server, They were very nice down and down to earth.
Would we return again.. For sure...
Not lost in the 50's! LOST in the year 2012. This place is horrible. New owners are terrible! I think the name LOST is right, not just the food though the decor and service too.
LOST is the skills to execute a simple good burger and fries. The food is way over priced and my bun was not fresh. They might claim the food is fresh but learning how to cook it is a big part of success .
This is NOT the OLD iconic and great place it used to be so don't waste your time!
As a foodie with foodie friends I had 3-4 people that tried this place and we all agree it was horrible we will never return. Any Fatburger has 2x better product for 1/2 the price.
The fries recipe was LOST as mine were soggy not crunchy and hard and under cooked in the middle.
Even the supposed DRIVE THRU isn't even a drive thru you have to get out of your vehicle to pick up and pay for it? Use some common sense people if you advertise a drive thru make it a drive thru.
The customer service was LOST they just put a bunch of toppings on your burger without asking you. ( Thanks guys but I don't like big chunks of raw onions or mustard you might know that if you ever asked) Bad service and not even a smile
Trust me save your money there are 10 places in the area that have way better service and food at prices that reflect quality this place is lacking.
LOST is any design sense. Not only did the new owners ruin the original look of the diner that had the original 50's pastel colors they painted it some crazy ugly color scheme with purple, yellow, red, black and a wood fence and got rid of the BUS! This place was an icon to the city and they destroyed it what are you thinking?
After eating here it is clear they know as much about decor as they do about food service and pricing. You have only one chance to wow a customer to get them to return and from my experience and many others I know, you blew it BIG TIME.
And last but no least LOST is convenience to the customer. This business only accepts CASH? You better make note of that before you get there or you will be a screwed as we were. What is this a front no debit no credit card? Can you say "Tax Evasion"

I've been a regular customer for couple years now and this place is most of the time busy or lined up with people and recent years it has become more busy. The food is always consistent the special rolls like las vegas roll or the red dragon roll is really all of my friends favorite. The service is friendly and most of the time it's very very quick almost suprisingly. This place is the best I've had yet.
This place is great. I've been coming here for years and though I have had better thai food, for the price point and reliablility this is great. We come here for lunch often for the specials. It includes soup, spring roll and an entree and if you have water, with tax and atip you are out for under $10. I spend more at the food court at metrotown sometimes.
I must say I wouldn't want to dine any where else because the food at Peking Wonton is good especially the Sushi is absolutely delicious from their homeland! Once you eat there..you'll want to go there over and over again.Every holiday they decorate the place and it's beautiful.God bless that and by the way Peking is not even really close to my house. Yeah it's that good. Surprise yourself
Not thai food.. This is poor chinese buffet food at best.. Its greasy over salted and not spiced correctly, poor service, uneducated staff and terrible food. Dont waste your time or money. I could go on but others have had similar experiences so why bother, other than to confirm the worst.
Their food is amazing! You'd think it would be a knockoff because of the low price they charge but you'll be surprised. Unlike other Chinese restaurants they load up the plate with noodles or rice, Double One gives a right ratio of rice and met/vegetables. In some cases we even got more meat/veggies than the rice itself. Their dishes are reasonably priced and they have a wide variety to choose from. We've be coming here for years and we were never disappointed. Highly recommended!
I was shocked when I read the reviews on this place. I've only been here 3 times, and twice for AYCE. the sheet does have two rows of what to order I'm not sure if they give you a second sheet or not. I ordered a lot of rolls a small amount every role. 2 cones and lots of nigiri. they honestly brought everything I ordered. and the quality of the nigiri was pretty decent, my friend got a drink and refills ended up being free. the only miscue was she asked if I wanted another soup and my friend said no, but she brought another miso each, (which he finished and I finished half)
she asked if we wanted more but we ended up ordering a lot more than we figured and were both stuffed.
and we paid 13.99 each.
I've been to all you can eats that if you order a lot of rolls and nigiri they "forget" the nigiri or the fish on the nigiri looks old or isnt that good.
Of course I prefer a sushi place in maple ridge to this, but as far as AYCE this is one of the best ones I've been to.
there was a fairly big wait to get in but if you put your name in they will tell you how long and you are able to go out for a smoke or a quick walk.

Ya it was all pretty good. Service was definitely up there. Fast, friendly and attentive. No complaints at all.
It's all Japanese staffed. I'm pretty sure anyway. I'm Asian myself and i've been to enough chinese and korean owned places to have a good idea. Plus they said so..hahaha
It was a Saturday and we got there around 6 and there was no one and 45 minutes later there were people waiting for a seat.
It's a nice place with nice people and good food. I'll be going back and my cousin said he would too. He's a harsh critic too. The guy will hardly go anywhere except his handful of usuals.
We went for the chef's signature tasting menu and it was delicious. The food was excellent and so was the service. It has a very cozy and intimate little dining room and also a large selection of non-alcoholic beverages as well as alcoholic beverages which I appreciated. This is not a cheap restaurant, but worth the price! There is also plenty of free parking around this area which is a bonus.
We live in the area and go here often. I agree with the post below - this is not the typical cheap eats pho noodle place, it's a nicer interior and a bit more expensive. Portions are a bit smaller. We tried the chicken wings (garlic butter, $6) which were very tasty. I had the beef stew noodles ($8) and they were delicious. My favourite dish on the menu.
I'd rather pay a bit more and get a nicer place to eat with tasty food and good service.
This little gem serves ramen, fried rice, gyoza and Korean dishes such as Ba Bim Bop, Kimchee, etc. because I think the owner/operators are Korean. Service is always with a smile and the prices are fair.
I go here often because I know the food is good and consistant; no surprises.
