Upon entering we were seated immediately. Oddest seating layout I've ever seen go see for yourself. Went with the choice of noodles in fish broth plus 2 toppings $8.50 plus you get a hot drink included. Soup was super hot and my 2 toppings of brisket and tendon were plentiful and delicious. Also added 2 sides at $1.75 each. Happy with the fish filet but disappointed with the deep fried bread. Looked like 3 donut holes you get from Tim Hortons. Restaurant was clean and modern with lots of glass facing onto the street. Might be a problem in the summer with the sun beaming down. Overall I am happy with the meal and now prefer this style of noodles over pho. Much better value and hotter soup.
This place shows you fresh foods in the menu, but everything comes out burnt, over cooked, or just plain gross.
I was better off cooking at home. They served my 3 year old burnt food, who does that?
I suggest this franchise is a good place to take kids, and should really start looking into fresh foods, and less into frozen foods.
I love getting the meat sauce on rice at no1 beef noodle ! It's one of the best :D ! A couple of times ive been here the servers have been rude and they dont look like they want to be there. I also wouldnt order any slushes here because they're super icy !
Ive been here a couple of times and every time i come in i try to order different things. Their menu is overwhelming, but if you're like me who is pretty indecisive id advise you to ask the barista. They give out good suggestions! I ordered a few milk teas and this is the FIRST time that i've seen a bbt place freshly steep the tea ? WOW ! going that extra mile without using powder ! I personally recommend the Hot Lychee black tea latte and the Strawberry Taro ! Those are my favorites !
Went on a Sat evening without reservations and got seated right away. Must have gotten the last open table as we saw people being turned away. Looked over the menu and saw there was no calamari, what a bummer as this is our favourite shareable dish. Opted for the appy special 1/2 pound PEI mussels $7.95. Remember when garlic bread was complimentary? Be prepared to pay $4.50 if you want it here. Entrees were very good and of ample portions. Spaghetti Bolognese with meatballs $15.00 and Spaghetti Vongole $16.00. Even though I had to ask for a water refill and there was a long wait for the bill our waitress Kathryn was a real dream. Pleasant and helpful and overworked. Plenty of parking in the evening. Located in a business mall. I liked it and would return for a nice light meal.
I would normally not write anything negative about an establishment but sushi garden Burnaby service has really gone to hell! I had pre ordered some food and was told it would be ready in 15mins. I went by after 10mins. I realized I had wanted an additional sunomono salad and asked if I can add it to my order, I was quickly told by the cashier " it'll take 20mins" (scowl face and annoyed) I didn't want to wait or upset her more therefore I just paid for my original order. She then looked at my order and said "we'll you're early you have to wait" I mean seriously are u just having a bad day?! Then I said okay I will wait, she literally rolled her eyes at me and said "u can wait there" ..... Omg after another 15 mins of waiting I just took my food and left.... Seriously , can u afford to me moody when u actually have paying customers?! Leave the attitude at home...
Food: is alright I would come again for the food and bubble tea. But I would not.
Service : service there is terrible and the girls there are dressed inappropriate. My experience there is awful. I went there to order to go foods they didn't even assist me and my husband when we walked in, we waited at the door for 10 minutes, order my food from a guy and then he ran off somewhere and I wanted to pay and one of the girl server ask what do u want and I said I want to pay. She asked me did u order ? I said of course I did I order right in front of u with the other guy. She was holding the receipt in her hand and she was like oh I got it here. Then I paid and I sat down with my husband and we waited for 20 mins and I went up and asked when is my order done and the server said in 5 mins and it wasn't 5 mins. During that two white guys came in and was seated and no one paid attention on them for half an hour so they left. Server talk and text and slack off, especially they don't understand half the things customer say if their not Chinese. Going back to my story about my order, I had wait over 35 mins and my husband and I tried calling them while we're in the restaurant to see if they would take our order on the phone and one of the girl picked up and said " call back in 10 mins, we're busy" wow very unprofessional. If I had to wait for another 5 mins I would just ask for my money back. But finally I stood up and ask for my order and it came out just in time before I want my money back. Sorry for my long story but I have to explain that they have horrible customer service.
Overall food was good, we opted to get the additional all you can eat crab which is an extra $8 per person. They served frozen crab which was only cut in half which made it very difficult to cook and eat. They also did not offer any shell crackers, so we were forced to bite through shell including claws. The crabs were still frozen when they were served to us at our table.
Service was poor. We were greeted by a server wearing a GAP hoodie who was rude throughout the night. The men's washroom did not have any soap, we asked them to refill it and near the end of the night there was still no soap until we asked again.
The meat and veggies were tasty, food came fast. The crab was mushy.
It really is all about the lavish bread. Piping hot flatbread , fresh out of the brick oven, looks deelish and taste's even better. The lavish bread is what brought me back to this spot for my second visit this past Sunday. Probably the biggest second visit letdown I've had at a restaurant to date and a big reason why I most likely will never visit here again, although that bread just might persuade me otherwise.
Service was totally abysmal. One very nice guy moving about doing most of the serving. Yes, he was busy you had to constantly flag him down for things, an extra plate, my coke he forgot, the tea that took over thirty minutes to brew and arrive at our table, etc etc etc. In fact he was so busy he brought a dish of salt for the tea instead of sugar. When we told him, hey buddy, I believe this is salt , he took it away and came back with another dish. He said "what we had before was a different kind of sugar". Oye, yes my friend it is called "salt". Hey owner, hire more staff because on a relatively busy Sunday night this guy needs help.
Now to the food. Again, a letdown. Ordered babaganoush to go along with our lavish bread what actually arrived was humus. Being so hungry we let it go. The humus had way too much tahini not nearly enough garlic or lemon. My main of turkish meatballs came in a piping hot dish but was greasy and not nearly worth the price tag. The chicken in the curried chicken was dry.
I also realized on this second visit that I am not a fan of their decor. It's a weird mix of turkish decor meets industrial warehouse. Lighting so bright a surgeon could use it to perform delicate brain surgeries. Huge pipes and fans all around and plain jane tables. I realize this is not suppose to be an intimate dining spot but geez, could you turn down the lights a bit?
After the lavish bread, humus, two mains and another egg type/veggie dish along with a coke and tea with tip the damage was just over fifty bucks. Seems cheap when you look at some of the menu items but my goodness things sure add up fast.
I really thought Anatolia's was going to be one of my favorite dining spots in the area, sadly it is not to be.
Went for dinner with a friend. When we got there there was only a couple at a table. The restaurant was not busy at all. The server was friendly at the start. We ordered our dinner and it came quickly. Portions are small. Not worth the money they charge. Once he got our food, he did not come by and ask how we were doing. Reminder if you order coffee you only get one free refill after you have to pay for it each cup. This is not mentioned on the menu. There are much better resturants in the area with better value and better service. Not sure why this place is still around. Will not return again.
This is a nice, clean place to get a decent bowl of pho and a good place to take western friends that do not fanc too authenthic, strong taste vietnamese food.... the parking lot can be a pain in the behind at dinner time. Other than that, the Pho is solid and the service is quite friendly & attentive compare to a lot of regular Vietnamese restaurants out there.
Went to Wings last night for dinner with my friends. We shared the "Hat Trick" which comes with a pound of wings, yam fries, cheese bread and dips for $12. It's a good amount of food, but other then the wings which are pretty darn good, the rest of the food was mediocre. We ordered another pound of wings for the four of us to share. I also ordered the spinach salad which was pretty good, but the dressing was a little bit too zesty for my taste. I also ordered the 151 bellini which tasted kind of odd for me. I love bellinis but I don't like the taste with the 151 alcohol. You could definitely taste the alcohol though, they didn't skimp on that which is good. The service was fairly good, only thing that she didn't check up on us or ask if we wanted water for the longest time. All in all though, I was happy, but I'll come here next time when there's a special on chicken wings because that's the only thing I really loved about this place.
The wife and I have been coming here for years, and rarely have a bad time. We enjoy the music, and the food, which is even better! Of course they are busy on the weekends, but its never our intention to just sit down, eat and leave that quickly! We have a great time socializing with our friends, listening and dancing to the music, and when the food comes, its a real treat! You can tell that the food wasn't slapped together by any random chef, as its all very delicious!
I have recommended this place to all our family, friends, and co-workers!
This place is simply amazing. We had the signature 5 course tasting menu and every dish was progressively better, tasted and prepared differently. The potato foam, from seemingly humble beginnings was transformed into a princely creation. The braised short rib melted with the touch of the fork. The service was also outstanding with a very attentive and informative wait staff. We are looking forward to going back again.
I had Brunch last week at Uncle Willy's and I must say it was probably one of the best brunches I have had in a while. It was totally random but my friend suggested we try it out b/c he had went there a few weeks back. I usually go to ABC restaurant on Boundary because the food is not bad and have good food selections. Boy, was I wrong.
I have been to Uncle Willy's a long time ago and I have never had brunch there before. I was pretty impressed with the food. They had a wide variety of foods on the buffet line starting with salads and then the hot foods as you walk down collecting food on to your plate. Their pancake and french toast were really good as I drenched it with their home made style strawberry sauce. I also loaded up on the pan fried hash browns (i'm a potato lover) that they had there.
My favorite item there was probably the fried chicken and oven roasted chicken that they had at the very far end of the buffet line. The oven roasted chicken is cooked right in front of you and cut fresh by one of the staffs working there. Fried chicken was amazing, crispy and juicy on the inside; I remember them going quick as I had to line up to get my hands on them.
I should probably mention that they also serve roast beef and ham when I was there which I thought was a plus because I thought they only served it for dinner time.
I believe the brunch cost me $13.99 per person which is a pretty good deal for the quality of food that I was getting. Selection was also great, way more than what I was getting when I go to ABC restaurant.
I recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort food and just a place to try out for those looking to go some place different.
I went to Sfinaki the other night with a friend and had two different meals. We started off with Humous with Pita bread, which was really good. I ordered the roast chicken with potatoes and rice, the chicken had great flavour, melted in your mouth and fell off the bone. I would definately go back for this meal.
My friend had the beef souvlaki with potatoes, rice and greek salad, reported that everyone was really good, she really liked her beef souvlaki, great taste with lots of flavour. We came at a good time around 6pm, and when we left this place was busy by 7.30pm, so its popular. Food was excellent, I plan to return soon.
Had a great dinner at Broken Rice. This restaurant has been open for about 6 months. The place is small but nicely decorated .The hostess/owner was quite pleasant and stopped by to chat with the four of us .
We all decided to choose from the dine out Vancouver menu which includes an appetizer, entree and dessert for $28.00 each person. We did not order any alcohol and they were very good at making sure our teapot was always filled.
I loved the Squid Ate the Spring Roll appetizer. The Chicken on Chicken on Curry was quite good and satisfying. The coffee infused panna cotta was very light and nicely garnished with edible pansy and microgreens. The 3 other diners decided to have the Seafood Claypot and enjoyed that very much as well as their deep fried banana with coconut ice cream. All the other dishes that the waiter was bringing to the other tables looked delicious and nicely presented.
We were told this type of food is very traditional Vietnamese food with influences from the French. Broken rice serves the more well known type of Pho during their lunch menu which I will have to come back and try at some other time.
Overall had a very pleasant dining experience at Broken Rice :-)
Last night we went to Cockney Kings.
I finally decided to try their fish tacos, although
I was a bit nervous, it being a british fish shop.
I was delightfully surprised at how amazing their were
3 very good size tacos for a great price
and their what-what sauce is soooo good!
I will be getting these again for sure.
I have to add, the service there is outstanding as usual.
One thing you should know about us is that we are sushi aficionado’s, and thus, have an unhealthy obsession with it. Sushi Garden (both Kingsway/Metrotown and Lougheed Highway locations) is THE mother of all sushi places. Admittedly, Sushi Garden used to be our favourite sushi joint until we discovered Sushi Nanaimo and their specialty rolls (can you say Awesome Roll and Nanaimo Roll?). That (specialty rolls), and the fact that it is SO much closer to home is a big plus. But that doesn’t mean we don’t visit the place that started our love for sushi anymore…
Prawn Tempura - $7.50 (7/7)
There’s really not much to say about this, except for the fact that it tastes like pure heaven everytime we order it. We’re not sure as to how often they change their oil, but it definitely seems like it’s a daily thing as the tempura is always fresh and crisp. There’s just the right amount of batter and deep fried to pure perfection.
California Cone - $2.95 (7/7)
If you’re a fan of the California Roll, this is a MUST GET. It’s a California Roll, but in cone form. They definitely do NOT skimp out on the crab meat and they use a slice of avocado, so you can definitely taste the creaminess. The California Cone is so good that we can say it is 10x better than the actual California Roll itself.
Spicy Chopped Scallop Cone - $3.50 (6/7)
Again, they do NOT skimp out on the scallop. They do, however, skimp out on the hot sauce. They just squeeze a dollop on top of the scallop. ..It’d be nice if they mixed it with the scallop throughout. They sometimes even forget the sauce. Preposterous, right?
Alaska Roll - $3.95 (7/7)
This isn’t your typical Alaska Roll that you get at sushi joints. This is basically an Avocado Roll drenched with some sort of mysterious awesome sauce (it might just be the typical salad dressing you get at sushi place’s, but it’s full of garlic-y goodness) topped with a thin slice of salmon sashimi. A lot of Sushi Garden/Town/California noobies don’t know about this because the restaurants don’t write a description as to what’s in the roll, nor do they provide pictures, but GET THIS. Yes, that was a command. You will NOT regret it. You may, however, regret having garlic breath after, so if you’re on a date, be sure to pack some gum/mints/breath spray.
Inari - $1.00 (7/7)
This sweet tofu pocket filled rice is absolutely delicious. The tofu lives up to how it’s supposed to taste - sweet and juicy. Have this without dipping it in soya sauce!
Tamago - $1.00 (5/7)
Because the tamago is quite thin, you can’t really taste the sweetness of it. Still a good piece of sushi, though. Soya sauce may be needed.
Ebi - $1.20 (7/7)
There’s not much to say about this, it’s just your typical piece of ebi nigiri. They do, however, put quite a bit of wasabi underneath, so if you can’t handle spice - you have been warned.
Toro - $1.30 (7/7)
As with all other sashimi, you definitely get your bang for your buck here. The pieces are huge!
AmaEbi - $1.80 (7/7)
Again, it tastes how it’s supposed to. You can safely say their sashimi are fresh, thus, food = awesome.
Hotate - $1.50 (7/7)
Fat, plump, juicy. Need we say more?
Masago - $1.30 (7/7)
They load this up! It can get quite messy. Be sure you either eat this all in one bite or have your plate right under your mouth to catch all the falling eggs!
Saba - $1.00 (7/7)
Can’t go wrong with this. Or any of their nigiri’s. Or roll’s. Or cooked item’s. Or sashimi.
I did enjoy going to Antons pasta bar for many years before I had my kids, but we stopped going there when the the waitress brought our drinks on a tray and came between my wife and 3 year old son instead of coming to the end of the table like common sense would dictate instead of squeezing between 2 people. The tray was dumped and scalding hot water burned my sons shoulder, arm and went all the way down his leg and filled his boot with the hot water. We did not even know about the ankle burn until after we got home from Burnaby hospital emergency. The ankle burn was the worst.
The waitress and owner of Antons pasta bar who was in the restaurant at the time of the incident did not even apologize to us. All he did was give me his business card when I requested it.
It was an unfortunate incident, but we do not go there anymore because of how they treated us at that moment in time. It was like he was expecting us to pursue them with legal actions for negligence.
