Good Price but food quality is lacking

In terms of price and size, you can't beat this place. Where else can you get a burger, fries and salad for around $7 bucks? Also they have these daily specials that are ridiculously priced. Today I had a huge plate of their Monday night steak special. There was a moderately sized steak, lots of tossed salad, rice and potatoes with sour cream. I ordered a medium well steak but it came very well done. The salad was very basic and I could have definitely made better ones myself. Of course for the $5.95 price, what was I to expect? The only thing is that they made you buy a drink too. In anycase, it came out to around $8 bucks. For this price, you can't even get the same food at a food court. In terms of service, the staff was fairly young and you can tell they were tired as there was only 3 wait staff for a busy night today. Overall, I'd recommend this place if you want a quick bite at an affordable price and are not too picky with the food quality. It does get busy sometimes though and I saw a staff member ask a table that was sitting there chatting to leave cause people were waiting at the door. Oh by the way, don't try the soup. I had two different soups there and both times, I regretted order them. I don't know what they put in their soups but it tastes horrible.

This place is a goldrush! I have never eaten such good food at a great price! I am going back with a few of my friends to get a nice dinner with some drinks. I have only been here for the lunch menu and that was excellent! The server was nice and was very speedy. I used to pass the place all the time, but never payed any attention to it because at a glance it looks like a adult shop (due to the name and design). Other than that you step in and get immediate attention and when you sit you get excellent service.

Its not in the soup

Went for dinner here last evening. The atmosphere was fine and it fairly busy which in most cases is a good sign. Not here
I ordered the french onion soui which i have had many times at other establishments and i can honestly say that it was the worst French Onpion soup i have tasted. The soup base had no taste and there was no baked cheese on it at all. Just onions floating in around in a tasteless broth. i couldn't finish it. I asked the wapitress where the cheese was and she commented it doesnt come with the soup. She then asked me if i wanted cheese on it. I said yes and she brought it back with a few strands floating in it.
That soup was on the bill which shouldnt have been.
This was my second time there. The first experpience was the potatoes where not cooked properly and the meal was cold.
I will not return.
Tim Hortons makes a better french onion soup.
Attention Cooks...its time to get out the recipe books.
Another comment about the waitresses attire. She did alot of unecessary bending over to displace her cleavage. I imagine its to get better tips. I was with my husband and i dont appreciate that. I asked him not to tip her.

We were introduced to this restaurant this past summer and have been back several times since, most recently last Monday when they had the steak on special for $5.95. 3 of the party of 5 ordered the steak and they were cooked perfectly as requested and came with the house salad, roasted potatoes and rice on a large platter. Our appys included 2 orders of salsa and chips, salsa appears to be homemade and is served with sourcream as well as an order of calamari. Drinks are charge per glass. Service was good too even though we had to wait about 15 mins to be seated because the place was busy. We haven't been disappointed yet and highly recommend them.

I used to come here more often as a student at SFU. It is still a great place for me to hang out and catch up with old friends, grab a decent bite for good value. Sometimes the service can be slow if its very busy, but most of the time we love it for their great burgers (Tues. is burger night) and cheap drinks. Havarti and Cajun Chicken are my favourite.

Have been going here for a few years years and it is still one of my favourite spots. The lunch specials available from 11-4are $4.95 with the purchase of a beverage. The portions a just right for me, i always leave satisfied. For lunch I like getting the chicken souvlaki or a pasta dish. The souvlaki comes with pita bread, salad, rice and potatoes, well worth the price. The pasta dishes come with garlic toast and the portion is generous as all their portions are.

For dinner there is a different special from 5pm - 9pm roughly mon-thurs. Mon - 6oz steak, Tues - any burger off the menu (except the salmon burger, Wed - Chicken Souvlaki, Thurs Salmon. Dinner specials are $5.95 with the purchase of any beverage. I really like the salmon dinner, the salmon is a little crispy on the outside and really juicy in the inside.
Most dinners come with rice, potatoes, salad and garlic toast. The calamari appetizer is good too, not overly battered.

Great value for the food. Pretty dark inside, and service can be slow if it is really busy but most of the time they are pretty good.

I'm So X-Sited

We eat here because it's quick, tasty, cheap and it's really close to home. The smell of the copper on the table tops and the often cheesy piped in music can be distracting, but after a couple of pints, who cares. The servers are always pleasant and have never gotten an order wrong. The random hours of operation can be frustrating.

The worst experience I ever had! We tried their New York steak with peppercorn and grilled chicken; they both smelled and tasted like fish! The side potato was almost raw. The service was average. The beer was not that bad. The ambience was good. it was the food that was so bad. If you go there, make sure you do not order anything from the grill. The burger might be good, I don’t know. I will never go back! The beer was not good either. The waitress was polite, but when I asked about the taste of their beer, she simply said she did not know! How can you be a waitress and not know which of your beer taste strong?!! The ambience was acceptable. The prices, fortunately, was not too high. I will never go back. If I were you, I would stay away from it too.

Decent, cheap beer, okay food

Wife and I went last night. I ordered the classic burger which is a great deal for cheese burger, with bacon, side cesar and potatoes. I dont like the potatoes at x-site and wish they had regular fries...

X-site grill has decent food, nothing noteworthy, but the prices are very good which i think reflect the quality of the food. Beer selection is excellent with a choice of four local beers at a good price (under $5)

I'd go back to x-site if i was in the area, and didnt want to spend more money than i would going for fast food

One of our favourite meals is the Chicken Souvlakia lunch special. $4.95 for a huge skewer of chicken, plus salad, pita bread, rice, and potatoes.

Phone ahead before 4 p.m. and make it an early dinner for take-out.

Or, for dinner, the blackened salmon or chicken are recommended for $9.95.

As somebody mentioned, use the entertainment book coupon and a meal for two is dirt cheap at only $9.95 plus taxes/tip.

Monday through Thursday there are eat-in only dinner specials for $4.95, requiring one drink purchase per customer. If my memory serves correctly, Monday is burgers, Tuesday is steak, Wednesday is chicken souvlakia, and Thursday is salmon. Unlike most restaurants, the drinks are actually cheap at $1.50 for a non-alcoholic variety.

My only complaint is that the meals are carbohydrate heavy. I would prefer some added vegetables, other than just the salad.

We have never eaten in for lunch, so can't comment on slow lunchtime service.

I have been going here for about five years now and the joint hasn't disappointed me yet. I remember cutting class in high school just to enjoy their lunch specials. All the daily specials are worth the trip even if you aren't close by. I especially love the two for one appetizers (no seafood though) after 10:00pm everyday. You can get a pitcher of beer and two appetizers for under $20. I in fact love how the owner decided not to go with fries. It changes things up because every other place has fries. Service is always good except when its busy at lunch and the usual one waitress is there. But I guess to keep the prices the same since they have opened is the reason the boss only has one or two waitresses and one or two cooks working at one time.

It's hard to complain about $5 steak

Had the $5 steak special. It was far from the best steak I've ever had, but how can I complain for five bucks? Service was reasonably quick and friendly. This is the best place in Burnaby for cheap eats.

Went here for dinner tonight with a large group. The waitress was new, so a bit slow, but forgivable. I had the grilled prawns with garlic and white wine sauce ... quite liked it, but was disappointed with the lack of garlic flavour. Another group member ordered the hummus and it tasted plasticky or burnt. We also got cheese bread which was orgasmic. The under $10 label is a bit off... More like $15, $20 if you want drinks.

Great spot, but where are the fries?

This is a funky little spot with a cool ambience and good cheap food. The one thing that always confuses me? Why don't they have french fries? Who wants potatoes with their burger? I will definitely be back to X-site but each time I enter the door, I enter with a faint hope that fries may appear on the menu...

This will be an always favorite. From the great priced lunch menu to the drink specials, Xcite is a great place to eat, have a drink or just hang out. Their burgers are yummy as are their appy's. The calamari is a great price for what you receive. I love Wednesday nights because their chicken souvlaki platter is super cheap and worth ten dollars if that's how much you had to pay for it! The best part is isn't only five dollars. :D

Don't get me wrong....the prices, the portions, the atmosphere and for the most part - the food is fine and I would still recommend it. We have been coming to X-Site for many years. About a year or so ago, the restaurant came under new owners. The menu and food prices are the same great value. We have noticed that the food quality is not the same. For example, the burgers used to be large, handformed patties that came hot off the grill. Now the burgers appear to be the thinner, pre-fab variety. The calamari is also not the same. Not sure if the brand is the difference or the cook. We still come and eat at this trendy, casual little place where the price is right, the service is fine and the ambience is comfortable. We are also getting used to the changes in the food.

X-sited...No! DISGUISTED...yes

Submitted Wednesday, August 15, 2007 - 1:41pm [Dine in]

My girlfriend and I went to xsite yesterday Aug 14, 2007 for dinner. the place was somewhat busy, but not packed.
I ordered a hamburger, a ceaser, a beer and some avacado on my hamburger as extra.

My complaints are as follows:

1. There was a hair on the side of my plate when it was brought out to me. It however was not in the food so I brushed it off and didnt making anything out of it.

2. The Avacado they put into my burger was ROTTEN. It was disguisting. My girlfriend tasted it and she almost gagged. She also asked for avacado in her sandwich, however hers tasted fine.

3. When I was almost done my beer, I noticed at the bottom of the beer there was a fruit fly in my beer, i dumped the beer into a water glass to confirm it was indeed a fruit fly.

Now here comes the customer service issue:
After complaining about the avacado, all I got was ohh im sorry... - She still charged me for the avacado add-on.
When i left i told her about the fruit fly and she kind of giggled and was ohh...

I am quite disguisted with this restraunt and will not return, nor will I tell my friends to return.

My boyfriend and I tried their clam chowder soup, chicken soublaki, and chicken blue burger. We really enjoyed their foods.

The soup had many pieces of carrots, potatoes, and clams like a homemade style. Both our main dishes were great. Moreover,
the servers were friendly.

We definitely will try other day specials.
Great food and Great prices.
