Inside Metropolis food court. Order in or take out. selection of vegetables, noodles, pork, seafood, meat and chicken. Select what you would like to eat, price based on weight and watch the food be prepared in a variety of flavours. Teriyaki, garlic, black bean, spicey etc.
U-Grill is one of those places I tried to look for whenever I'm at the food court at the malls. It was fresh, simple, tasty and for those who have only X amount to spend, you could knock off a broccoli floret or two off your plate to cover the bill - the cost of your meal is based on it's weight.
I always go for the rice, sprinkled with some onions, broccoli and a mix of marinated chicken, beef and pork. I always pass on the sauce they mix in when they're cooking your food but there are plenty of choices if you fancy. I've yet to exceed over $9 before drink on my plate of food, good value with the heaping mound of starch, leaving me very full and satisfied.
Cafeteria lineup so the only thing to worry about are the line cutters who try to weasel their way in ahead of you. Wait is only a few minutes even when busy. It's located in the new food court in Metrotown - it's actually pretty nice surroundings. Lots of seating and natural light, though it's noisy.
One of the few highlights at Metrotown.
A previous reviewer (bc) recommended this place so I knew it was a good choice. U-Grill always seems to have a huge lineup, and there is a good reason. The food is cheap(ish) and fresh. Last visit I had random veggies, the marinated chicken, and rice. Like one previous reviewer, I am not crazy about the sauces, but they are there if you want them added. It was less than 15 bucks to feed a big hungry guy and since you can put lots of veggies in you can buy off the food court guilt by telling yourself it is a healthy choice. Service is okay, but you can tell the preparers wish they had done something else with their lives. Ambiance is pure food court. It is also clean enough. As for queue jumpers, I just step on their feet :).
I used to go to this place so much in my teenage years!
Glad to see they are still as yummy as I remembered. They are generous with their sauces, and I like that the ingredients to pick from are fresh and the meal seems healthier.
There's other versions of u-grill at other mall's but this location has the best food.
I was inside Metropolis food court, wanted something healthy to eat and saw U-Grill. They had a hugh selection of vegetables, chow mein, variety of meats from Pork, seafood, meat and I took the Chicken teriyaki.
They cooked up my dish, rice is included and watched my food get cooked. In less than 5 minutes, I was off trying my dish, which came to a bit over $10.00. I was surprised how good the food tasted, the taste of chicken was definately marinaded, and everything I tried on my plate, was good.
I was surprised that a food court had a great spot to eat. I enjoyed my meal, and it looks like I will be back to try something else from U-Grill.
Recommend it, when your in Metrotown.
This place always have huge lineups which is great because you know that the food is constantly fresh unlike some other vendors where their food sits under light bulbs for hours and hours. You first grab a plate and pick the wide assortment of veggies including carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, and zucchini. Then there are the meats: chicken/beef teriyaki, or marinated chicken/beef/pork. Finally the 6 different sauces including oyster, soy, garlic, ginger, black bean, and chili. If you are a student or busy worker, this is a good place to come and replenish the essential nutrients. U-Grill is good for You!!!
U Grill food is quite expensive. I bought a plate with a few pieces of meat, noodles and vegetables. Because everything is weighed by the gram, my plate came out to be priced over $13 for lunch plus a drink (in total, it cost me over $16 per meal). Although it was tasty, I thought it was overpriced for a fast food. In regards to the service rating, it takes too long to get my food. Since I have a limited time for my lunch break, I find that the line up to get my dish which includes choosing the food items, paying and waiting for it to be cooked requires quite a wait.
This is probably the healthiest fast food stir fry you can get.
The uncooked food bar has fresh ingredients & you get choose what goes on your plate. This is always a busy stand and there are ample staff in the front in the back (to accomodate the business volume!). Service is acceptable, but it is inline with this assembly line type of operation. The price of your meal is based on the weight of your platter. It is competitive but if you are very hungry or very frugal, you may want to try another venue for that day. This certainly is a refreshing change from your mainstream food court places.
