Tim Hortons was founded in 1964, by hockey legend Tim Horton and they’ve been serving Canadians fresh coffee and donuts for over 40 years. In addition to donuts and coffee, they also offer a variety of freshly made sandwiches and soups.
The kids wanted a treat while we were at that mall just off Byrne Road in Burnaby. We decided to go to Tims and have an early supper. Big Mistake.
The server was dumber than a sack of rocks. I was attempting to order for myself, husband and two kids. Everytime I stated my order, the server repeated it back incorrectly. I tried to clarify, but she kept repeated back incorrect orders. Realizing that my order was large (including three sandwhich combos, donuts and an extra beverage) and that the server was English-Second-Language, I politely asked for a pen and paper so I could WRITE DOWN exactly what I wanted - making it easier for both of us.
Dumb girl stated she didn't have a pen. I repeated my desired order, she repeated it back WRONG. I advised her that I was getting ready to give up and walk out. I again, asked for a paper and pen and said I would write down my order because the constant back and forth was just getting irritating to me.
She reluctantly provided a pen and a scrap of paper and I wrote down EXACTLY what we wanted. She rang up my order and asked for payment. I paid and waited a few minutes to pick up my order. Astonished, I discovered that they included two extra sandwiches (one of them large) which I DID NOT ORDER. There is no way that she should have made this mistake, these sandwiches were completely unrelated to the order I had written down. Furthermore, she omitted one of the extra beverages that I had ordered.
By this time, the line up was even longer. I had completely lost patience with the stupid girl and we ate our lunch. I checked out the price board and did some mental math - yep - she fully charged us for all the unordered and unwanted items. Again, the line up was long and I just did not have the patience to try to sort this out.
The food was below average, did not taste "Fresh" and even the donuts (which used to be so good) tasted stale. The coffee was not as hot as I would like and was not particulary tasty.
I attempted to contact Tim Hortons head office in Canada to complain - but this particular location is not listed on their website and when I tried to contact them on their website - it kept rejecting my letter.
I will never set foot in any Tim Hortons again. Bleh food is bad enough - but I can't deal with stupid servers who can neither follow verbal or written instructions.
Funny thing - I had similar problem with this Tim Horton's a few years ago and was able to contact head office and get it rectified. It seems that they continue to hire unintelligent, uninterested staff who are probably people that the nearby McDonalds turned down when they applied for a job there!! Pathetic.
I don't usually go to Tim's anymore. I don't really like their coffe much and don't eat many donuts. I went today because I was out and had a Tim card from Shoppers.
I had mushroom soup, which used to be thick and gagging. Now it was thinner but absolutely tasteless. It was supposed to be "Field mushroom" but any of the m ini mushroom pieces in it had never seen a field only the inside of a can. I have never had a processed soup require salt before but this stuff was that bland. Even 5 packs of pepper could not help it.
I also had a cheese bagel which was also tasteless even though it had orange melted stuff on the top. Event he herb and garlic cream cheese was not enough to make it taste like much. Both the soup and bagel were quite small.
I still need to taste something as I was not satisfied. I had a donut. It was sweet - bad texture - not much.
The whole thing was fairly nasty and not to be repeated unless I was starving. Corporate industrial slop.
