Simon Fraser University's renowned coffee shop, Renaissance Coffee is not only a great place to get a good cup of coffee, but also a great place to receive a convenient and cost friendly eating and drinking experience.
Whether you are looking for a wholesome meal, some delectable desserts or just a little something to warm yourself and lift your spirits, come join us at any of our three locations on campus to receive service with a smile.
I was in the hood and I went into the RC to get an iced moccacino. SFU can get hot! This place has a big selection of sandwiches and deserts and a few hot entrees and soups too. The moccacino was the best I've had in ages. I liked it so much, I went back to thank the barista. That is high praise for a lazy guy like me.
Oh, and the w/c was clean too.
I'll be back.
foods okay, most food you can cook at home. the prices are on the expensive side IMO. Sizes of the meals aren't that big for the price. prices are between $ 6-10 for a meal...
but the table/chair settings are quite good both in and outside. and it is quite clean.
I use to frequent this place quite often as it's on campus but.... I have witnessed time and time again that they do NOT wash their hands after handling cash! They then use their bare hands to grab food items such as samosas and bagels!!! Gross. And it's not just the staff who do this.... The owner does the exact same thing!
I've been here many times for hot chocolate and chocolate croissants. Both of them are excellent. I think Renaissance Coffee has the best hot chocolate on campus, and their chocolate croissants are great as well. Sometimes when you buy chocolate croissants at other places you get a croissant with very little chocolate, but they have never been stingy with it at Renaissance. I'd recommend anyone to go there for anything chocolate related! :)
Went in for a latte after dinner with friends.
Service was kind of poor - felt kind of bad, the worker may have been new - we had to submit our order twice because the barista forgot what we ordered? How does that happen? Then my drink was cold. Had to remake it and it was still a bit off but I just drank it.
This place is a mess. I went and ordered a coffee, a panini and piece of carrot cake. This was one big mistake, first my panini was so over priced for what I got and it was stale, and the carrot cake must have been sitting on the shelf for days. Before I sat down to eat I went over to the coffee stand to add some cream and sugar to my coffee and there were ANTS everywhere, that's right ANTS, and it wasnt just one or two, there were so many. I mentioned it to the guy behind the counter and is response was "ya okay". Nothing was done about the ants the entire time I was there, and I tagged along with a friend a few days later who wanted to get a coffee and the ants were still there. Disgusting! Finally, when i was paying, the cashier took my money and put it in the till and then went straight to handling my food with out even washing his hands. Serious health violation. Finding a clean place to sit is nearly impossible, they never seem to want to clean the place. This place was just an all around bad experience. I wont be back.
