I'm impressed with everything

It is very rare that I leave a Red Robins restaurant dissapointed (but it does happen on a rare ocassion)

I have been patroning at Red Robins for a few years now and I don't really need to talk much about the food, I am really impressed with thier good food (Ok, it's not gourmet or anything, but it is really good and well worth it for the clientel they serve)

Anyhow, on one of my recent visits, I had come for a friends birthday party, and I ordered my usual double burger and fries. Didn't take too long for our food to arrive. When the waitress was bringing my food she accidently tripped a little and my burger had fallen, but she caught it. She then told me she would get me another burger. I told her not to be ridicoulous and that I had no problem and would eat it. She then told me that while catching it she poked her finger a little bit in the bun (again I told her not to worry and it was only a burger bun and I am sure it's fine) She then told me that my burger was on the house (Free)

I would assume that most restaurants would take advantage of the situation and just say "ok, thanks" Red Robin however didn't charge me for thier burger (even though it was a perfectly good burger. I admire thioer excellent customer service.

I've also tried thier fish items, wings and cheese sticks which all taste good.....I wish maybe the cheese sticks could be bigger, but I guess now with the price of cheese it is almost worth the same as gold (LOL)

Anyhow.....Great Job Red Robin.....Will be patroning alot

Free birthday burger

Got a free gourmet burger coupon emailed to me so as I was going to Save On foods anyways why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Burger was pretty good as was the beef dip. Good fries. The onion ring tower was not to my liking as I found the batter to be too hard. I prefer the fresh made crispy rings not the frozen rings. Service was so so as the place was packed. Had to ask for coffee refill. Good thing I had a complimentary burger because the value is not there. Shroom burger, beef dip, onion rings, coffee, ice tea $38.00 before tip. Yikes.

Good burger, not so good fish and chips

I will not order their fish and chips again. The batter on the fish is too heavy. The fries are good, though. Their Red Robin burger, on the other hand, tastes great, though a tad dry. Service is good. They seemed to have way more servers than they needed on the day we visited - or way fewer customers than they expected.

Loud, but that does not keep me away

Since i've never had anything different than burger and fries there, there is not a lot I can say about their food in general, but I love their burgers. I have to say, I like them way better than Vera's (since they are not charred!); I always have a juicy, tasty burger, I don't have to wait too long, and I like their fries a lot. Even on very busy weekends, I find that the service is good. Ambiance is one thing I dislike; I find it too loud, but that does not keep me away

Sends you back to 1995.
By Gidge of Vancouver (93 Reviews)

1995 was the last time I stepped foot in a Red Robin and fast forward 14 years later, I found myself at the Metrotown location for a late night snack with old friends.

Food: Similar menu but of course the pricing has gone up. It's very similar to Boston Pizza next door but lacks the comfort food selection that I enjoy at White Spot. The fries are flat wedges and perfectly fried...yum. The soup tasted canned and the caeser salad was overdressed. My banana milk shake was pretty good.

Service: we lucked out and got the older male server who seemed experienced and relaxed. Very casual, friendly service and he even remembered orders despite our constant chair hopping. He threw in free fries on the house when they ran out of onion rings. Service checks were made and he offered to bring separate bills, a thoughtful gesture I always appreciate. Food came out relatively quickly and hot. One minor negative point was that the inexperienced hostess took about 10 minutes to greet and seat us, even though the restaurant was only 1/3 full.

Value: I remembered RR being a cheap place for teenagers to eat in. Maybe I still have 1995 pricing etched in my memory but I found the pricing higher than what I expected for a causal burger/shakes joint like RR. For value, I rather go to White Spot for burgers/fries or pay a few extra dollars and go to Earl's. Or...my new favourite, Les Faux, which is on par with their mains.

The ambience is still very much intact - red furnishings, uncomfortable chairs, and booths scattered throughout - of course with a modern twist with flat panel TVs and modernized bar. The crowd was young (under 20) with groups of young families. For a Monday evening, it was surprisingly lively. A table nearby celebrated a birthday and I got to hear the "Do we have a birthday here?" song..it was nostalgic.

I came in expecting passable food and service but I was pleasantly pleased my old highschool haunt didn't disappoint. I may return one day to order clucks and fries.

Nothing but memories left...

I used to frequent this Red Robin back in my high school days, at least every other weekend. I just went back for a lunch a few days ago and I can't even describe my disappointment. I ordered my "usual" from back then - the clucks, which tasted like nothing more than styrofoam chicken (previously frozen, I assume). This used to be my favorite! It used to be so plump and juicy and came with the best wedge fries in the world. These days, nothing but dry. Even my wedge fries were dry and tasted old. I guess looking around the restaurant I can see why. Lack of customers. Yet still, there was tons of crap on the floors - leftovers from previous diners. Obviously cleaniness is not one of their priorities.

The good old days
By Kujibo of West Vancouver (127 Reviews)
Submitted Saturday, April 7, 2007 - 10:23pm [Dine in]

I started dining here 15 years ago and have been back hundreds of times. Most of those visits came in the first 5 years though.

The food is not too shabby for chain restaurant food made by kids who could probably care less. They have some quite tasty burger creations, much more interesting than the typical burger place. The rest of the menu is just so so.

Service is hit and miss, more miss in recent years than hit. Service was great there many years ago but something happened (I think they changed ownership) and it slid. I would say the service is better here than other locations I have visited (Capilano location has always been terrible for us).

My fondest memory of this place is how cheap it used to be back then - $6 for burgers, $3 for dessert. We used to eat a plate of nachos, have a burger, then sometimes even dessert (for about $20 including tip) - couldn't even eat half that much these days.

Meh and bleh

I use to come here a lot before I had my driver's license; a stopover before or after shopping at Metrotown. It's exactly what the common teenager wants and doesn't break the bank too badly.

Having gone there the first time a decade past and coming here now their food has pretty much tasted the same. Standard fare vanilla offerings I did often enjoy their burgers, quesadillas and the odd pasta, although now I know their versions are in hindsight only satisfactory in taste but good on value. A few years ago while still in school a couple of classmates and I came here for a lunch break. One of them ended up with food poisoning soon after finishing off her Alfredo. We should've heeded her suspicions when she noticed the sauce tasted "funky". Instead, she spent most of the time in the washroom back at school while we were resuming our group project.

Servers are a bit shady here. We've had a few male servers who's demeanor suggested they might've kicked back a couple of doobies during their break.

Haven't come back and don't plan to. Yikes.

Tip for them zero
By frankistheman of Vancouver Area (2 Reviews)

Met my wife there because she didn't have anything ready. I really hoped that this place would be cheap and good but the food was a let down. I ordered the "standard" plus cheese ( you pay an extra 1.50 for cheese). The burger was quite dry and not very tasty, could barely see the cheese and could not taste it at all. The fries tasted okay but were likely frozen based on the taste. At least they give you a lot. The bun simply does not stand up to the filling so they could try something better for that. You do get quite a decent size dish of fries for $4.00. They would not accept modifications and the sauce was missing. The waitress forgoit to bring after being asked twice. Wouldn't move us from the area with the kids. They have a long way to go to get even close to other burger places in town. Tip for the waitress zero.

Great Food & Good Service
By foodieBC of Burnaby (4 Reviews)

Gotta say, I love their burgers & the special Red Robin spice on their fries:) Pretty well guaranteed a good meal when you walk through the doors.

The only down side is the noise level- the music blares and I hate the stupid non stop sports on the big screen tv's. What about music videos half the time?? make it fun for once. But- the service is excellent ((*% of the time)- friendly, fast, helpful... they're awesome.

I love the heart attack burger (the Royal Red Robin) which has cheese, bacon and a fried egg on top.... Bite into the egg and the yolk would drip...MMMMMM!!! I'm seriously salivating here...

However- a couple times ago- the egg came hard...ew- I mentioned it but still ate it. So, the next couple times I ordered it and requested the egg be runny. The servers returned shortly afterwards, saying that 'the kitchen' said they can't make the egg runny- "for health code reasons".

WTH?! So... let me get this straight... Red Robin can't make a burger with a soft yolk fried egg- but any restaurant that serves breakfast can?!!! Maybe I'm a little slow... can you explain that to me??

Well, besides that one bummer, which I still can't figure out-
Red Robin Rocks!

But can ya'll get a new dessert menu already???
Is there a law that says all restaurants must have the same 5 desserts???

Watching this guy ( Byron ) move in and around his section was interesting, he took care and mingled with the patrons easily all the while doing the necessary requirements: taking orders, serving, cleaning. It was his ease in conversing and appropriately timed goofiness that made being in his section enjoyable. The guy

Now having said the above, I wish the food and ambiance followed the same suit. In a nutshell the food was below average, $12 burgers, $10 caesar salad, kids' dishes, all not very unsavoury. Blah, small portions i.e. unlimited fries but why not fill the cheapy plastic basket initially rather than giving 6-7 fries and then forcing customers to ask for more? No "wow" in the taste or presentation. I bet if you looked into the kitchen you'd see mostly young people who were given their first job.

The place was filled with a motley mix of families with young kids, young people grabbing the ubiquitous burger joint fare, after work crowd having drinks, and post Metrotown shoppers.

The decor hasn't changed since I first went to a RR in the early 90's, so no need to comment more on this subject.

If you just want cheap alcoholic drinks & boring appies in a 90's setting then you won't be disappointed. Unfortunately I'm way past being this easily impressed.

Don't get the new Beef Dip
By BbyGlad of Burnaby (9 Reviews)

I like red robin burgers. they have generous portions.
The new beef dip, however, is pathetic.
Tiny amount of beef that doesn't come close to covering the bun.
Plus the jus is too salty.
The beef dip at white spot is far superior. The meat is stacked high and the jus is perfect.
The place is a little too loud even for a family place in my opinion.

Terrible

Decided to give Red Robin's a try for once, and definitely will never go again. Server was rude, terribly slow, and un-attentive. Food is fairly standard, and arrived in nearly an hour. Didn't know making a salad and a quesadilla when the restaurant is sorta empty would take that long. Atmosphere is alright, overall a forgettable experience. Would not recommend to friends or family.

been to red robin many times. everytime i go there, i would hear the "birthday chant" coming from other side of the restaurant. It's alright, although, i think it would've been better if they just sang the good old happy birthday song. Anyways, i went to red robin this weekend, getting straight to the point, my server had VERY STINKY body odur. it completely destroyed my appetite. I took a peek at the table across from me, the man had a disgusted face when the server walked by. yes, the server is a male, and totally ruined my dinner. But burger was okay (it was nicely stacked). fries wasn't too good that night (probably because of the the rush). Some people gotta learn to put on deodourant, especially knowing that the weekend at red robin is going to be very busy. Overall I rate Red Robin Decent. meaning 2 out of 5 stars. I just hope when you decide to go to red robin you get a female server, not a smelly male server. I was very unfortunate and totally grossed out.

Good Place for Burgers

I've been to this restaurant a bunch of times over the last couple years and it's been consistent. I just stick with the burgers and fries because they've always been good. Some burgers are messier to eat than others but I like them. Bottomless fries, can't go wrong with that.

My wife varies her orders. Last time she ordered the Clucks and Greens. It was okay but the cheese bread hardly had any cheese.

Service is good. They're quick and attentive though the small talk when we get seated seems forced.

Usually after a movie, me and my buds come here to grab a meal and go some place else. I don't think I'm lucky, but every time I go to RR, I always get outstanding service. One time, we had a waiter refill out drinks CONSTANTLY, NON STOP. That was awesome, until I was kinda sick of the drink >.> I've had most of the burgers. Nothing too impressive there. Decent really. the washrooms are refreshing. :D Cheap drinks

First of all, all dishes are $10+, and so I expect it to taste good. However, had the chicken burger w/ fried onion straws, and the chicken was really dry, and the onions being really salty and greasy. The pepsi is really watered down and flat. The tables are sticky, and when I asked the server to kindly wipe it down, she gave me the rudest stare. Also, our server, brown haired gal named Jessica, did not refill our drinks at all, but refilled everyone else's, and did not even stop by to ask us if our food was okay or not. I absolutely dislike this place, I would rather go eat at the food court, at least the food court people would smile and say thank-you, even if they don't mean it.

I used to go here once a week 5 yrs ago when I worked nearby, I went to RR recently and it was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant, slow service, cold food and employees that had their asses hanging over the rails while they chatted with their co workers! It took 20 minutes to get a fries refill, I won't be coming back

Nice place for a late meal
By Beefeater of Burnaby (4 Reviews)
Submitted Monday, July 9, 2007 - 9:29pm [Dine in]

Went here the other day with a bunch of friends after Transformers. Wanted to go to Sushi garden but it was already closed. So we opted for RR just across the street. No regrets here. Our server was very polite, timely and accomodating to our requests. Despite the fact that they were about to close in less than 30 mins, she didn't rush us or anything. Food arrived very promptly after we ordered and she even recommended bringing out a few basket of fries since the kitchen was going to be closing soon. That's awesome as the fries there rock!! I had the Whiskey burger which tasted amazing to my surprise considerring it was a late meal on a Sunday night. All my buds enjoyed their burgers and wraps. Overall, it's a safe bet to go to if your hungry for a late night snack.
