I came here to order take-out the other day since I was just hanging out at a cafe a few doors down and needed some grub. I went in, ordered their chicken fingers with fries and a side salad. The total came out to around $13. After waiting about 10 minutes for her to ring it up (she had to ask about 4 different people how to do it and nobody really helped her because they were too busy socializing.), she told me that it would be about 15 minutes.
I went back to the cafe and after some time had passed, a friend said, "Shouldn't your food be ready by now?" I went back in to pick up my food and another server walked by and asked if I needed help. She checked on my order and it still wasn't done yet. What?? There was no one in the restaurant since it was kinda late. How long does it take to toss a few pieces into the deep fryer? Apparently, they were waiting on the side salad. It couldn't possibly take that much time, so I waited in the lobby. No less than 15 more minutes passed and finally, my order was done. I took it back to the cafe and opened the box.
They have got to be kidding. They made me wait all that time, and only given me a handful of fries. It looked pretty pathetic considering the $ I had spent on it.
On the good side, my side salad was huge, but I'm still confused at why it took so long? It was just salad.
We've been going to this Red Robin for many years now, and have yet to leave unsatisfied.
If you're coming here to eat, you really should be eating what they're known for. Their gourmet burgers!
There's a wide variety of burgers to choose from, from spicy, to extra strong bleu cheese, to having one with an egg in the middle. They have other items that are good, like chicken fingers, fish and chips, etc, but the burgers are really the stars of the menu.
Non-alcoholic drinks for the most part are bottomless, as are their steak fries (great for the larger appetites). The towering onion rings are a favourite (albeit a bit expensive).
Service here ranges from decent to very good, depending on how busy they are. We've rarely had any issues with the service here, and when mentioned, they're always quick to fix problems.
The ambiance is the generic Red Robin fare. Nothing special, but the booths are comfy, they have a nice bright glass covering on one side, and an outdoor patio for the warmer weather months. The place is always clean, including the bathrooms!
Prices here are average. An entree averages around $10-12.
Overall a great place to come to chat with friends, or just a nice place to have a casual meal with your significant other, and possibly catch a Canucks game while you're there. (Yes there are TV's everywhere!)
Went for a late lunch on Saturday, came away satisfied and impressed. Lots of staff on duty and every one was working. Place is spacious and inviting. A step up from white spot. My server Ashley was attentive but not bothersome. Had the shroom burger with bottomless fries. Quite the handful. My only misgiving is the bun. It fell apart from handling. A crustier hardier bun would have been nice for the hands on people. It's okay for the knife and fork crowd. Fries were very good and bottomless. Bathroom was neat and tidy. Lot of parking. I feel I got a good meal with good value and would return.
I used to go to Red Robin occasionally years ago and enjoyed the taco salad. Tonight, we took the kids for dinner. The menu doesn't seem to be as good as before. There was a good variety of kids' meals for $4.99. For $8.99 I got a so-so onion soup and a small soggy caesar salad with bread. My husband had a poutine craving, but the french fries were undercooked and lukewarm so he returned them. It also took quite a long time for the food to arrive. RR seems to have gone downhill and we will not be returning.
My family was over for my birthday. It was disappointing to find out that my mother had asked the staff to make it a special event for me, but least did the RR staff care!! Forget making it a celebration, they would take forever to serve us our lunch and coffee!! I would not recommend the Burnaby branch - especially if you are celebrating.
Yesterday I went to Red Robin (near Lougheed Mall) for lunch with a friend. We were greeted promptly at the door, but from there it truly went downhill. The server came over, took our drink order (for two coffees) and walked away. When she returned, we were ready to order our food. The orders were taken and then the server disappeared. The food was delivered shortly and I found the soup to be only lukewarm and there was far too much dressing on the Caesar Salad. My friend had the "Clucks and fries" and he too found the food to be lukewarm at best. Once the food was delivered to our table, we were given one refill on our empty coffee cups, and once again the server disappeared. After our meal was finished and our coffee cups were empty once again, the server returned and brought our bill (along with the usual dessert menu) and no offer of more coffee. We paid the bill and left the restaurant. When we left, I accidentally forgot a book that I had brought with me, lying on top of the table. Now, I am not sure what happened, but the book is now missing. I called and was informed that no book was turned into their Lost & Found. Whether the server took the book, or the next table of young kids took the book, I can't say. But with the cost of the mediocre food, the bad service and the issue of the missing book, I will not be back to this restaurant.
My family and I decided to check out Red Robin for dinner the other night. Although the restaurant was not even half full that night, there was a long line-up to get in to the restaurant. There were lots of free tables waiting to be occupied but yet the wait was about 15 mins to get seated. The impression we got was this restaurant was grossly understaffed and hence the delay. As for the food, no complaints there.
Decent burger joint for lunch with bottom less fries!
I used to come to Red Robin a lot for lunch. Their burgers are huge and I usually have to split it with a coworker of mine. As of about a year ago, I realized that they do make smaller burgers. I have been ordering that since I don't want to over stuff myself and feel fat after the meal. Their burger isn't as juicy as how I like my burgers, but they are okay for a quick lunch. Plus...nothing can top their bottomless fries!
It shocked me when I saw all these rave reviews on here about their burgers. I'm no burger expert but I went to this place high and couldn't even finish the burger. Calamari was just brutal. Poutine is fine fine fine though. Big mac's beat this place 9 times out of 10.
20 years ago Red Robins was the first sit down restaurant I went to without my parents and todate I have yet to find a better burger.
The best burger is the Whiskey River Chicken burger although all of them are worth a try.
Whole wheat burger buns are available
They don't charge for dipping sauces (try the buzz sauce it is awesome)
Great beer selection
Meals are great value when you compare to Earls, Cactus Club, Sammy J Peppers.
Unique look - it isn't another one of those "west coast" rock and cedar places trying to be trendy - it simply is what it is.
Since it is a family place you run the chance of having a screaming baby in the restaurant.
Their birthday song is a bit extreme.
Worth a try and definitely my favorite burger.
I had a huge burger craving and this restaurant popped up when I had it with a sign saying "Gourmet Burger" somewhere in there. Obviously I knew it wasn't actually "Gourmet" but I figured if this chain restaurant was known for their burgers I should give it a shot. Oh how wrong was I...
The ambiance is what you would expect of a chain restaurant, pretty good but I wasn't here to bask in that, I was just hungry! I asked my waiter to serve me the recommended burger. What I got was a burger served with an egg that shouldn't have been there (overwhelmed the taste of all other ingredients) and a disgusting piece of kraft processed cheddar cheese. I could not get myself to finish the burger only going half way through so attempted to make up for my money with their endless fries that comes with the burger. Unfortunately I found they're fries much too salty that I resorted to using a tissue to wipe them off, but maybe I'm just nit picking here? The service was pretty good so I'll give them props for that but everything else is kinda...ugh.
Gourmet burger at Red Robins? Maybe for red necks who have no true appreciation for food.
