A Brentwood Finalist

My gf and I did our usual routine of driving around looking for food and unfortunately our indecisiveness brought us to Brentwood Mall's food court.

While Mediterranean, you can't mistake the food court touches with the plastic flatware, syrofoam plates and table trays. Menu items are cheap enough for food court standards so I went with the donair plate. Mine consisted of a melange of Greek salad, rice and donair meat piled together with a small cup of tzatziki on the side. The salad was a little worse than typical of Greek salad these days, this one with mostly cucumber with shredded feta coming out of a shaker. The donair meat was recooked on the griddle, loosing most of it's juiciness while leaving lots of crispy bits instead. The carb filler of rice is what fills you up and it was not without it's charm, as was the odd green pea. Still, it's probably one of the better choices here.

It looked to be a family run outfit and I was greeted with genuine smiles and left with genuine thank yous. It's enough to lift up the service rating a notch.

While I wouldn't make a habit of coming here it's better than burgers or greasy noodles.

Very solid meal for fast food

The fast food you get here isn't much different than you would get in a greek restaurant. Unlike most of the other food court fare, you will feel like you had a good wholesome meal after eating here.

Myself I like the calamari or donair platters.

The Pita King chains seem pretty good overall and I have a hard time going to other similar places like Opa after eating here. This one seems like it's been run by the same family forever and they look greek enough to me.

I'd give them 5 stars but there is a bit of room for improvement. I'm not a fan of their pita bread, it's too thick, fluffy, and dry. I prefer it thinner and buttered. I don't believe their potatoes are fully roasted. I'm pretty sure they boil them and throw some kind of flavouring on later (they probably don't have room for a big oven so it's understandable?). While they are not bad I'm a sucker for a good roasted greek potato. Only other issue is you can end up waiting a bit if there is a line of people as there is more preparation involved with your order than some of the other joints there. I hate waiting in lines so I only get it when it's not busy. I don't think there is much they can do here though. They could also use a fountain pop machine.

Go hungry, leave full

Eventhough Brentwood mall doesn't offer the best shopping experience, they do have a pretty good food court. One of my favorites is the Pita King. I always get their chicken schwarma platter. For just under $7, you get greek pita bread, rice or potato or both, choice of salad, a nice helping of chicken. and a drink. Great service, good food that feels more like a meal than a food court offering. Sometimes I even go to Brentwood just to eat here!

Thanks Dude for not nuking my falafel

This is a food court place in Brentwood mall. But, the falafels are awesome, hot and crunchy and fried NOT Nuked. I frown upon nuked falafels. The pita is good and Greek salad is passable. It's just the falafel is yummy and I've never had anything else!

I did give the place a miss for a long time, because once snooty falafel maker lady told me that tomatoes were WAAAAAY too expensive to give me more than the one paper thin slice when I asked for extra. But, the falafel drew me back and I had to get over it.

Near the top of Food Court selections

If you have to go to a food court to get something to eat, it can be hard to get something healthy-ish besides sushi/Japanese. To the rescue: Pita King.

Unlike the other Greek Chains ("Jimmy The Greek"), you do have to wait a few minutes to have your food prepared. Pita King doesn't have everything sitting in warming trays for hours, and will actually cook up your meat for you.

Food: For a food court, it's great stuff. I don't feel guilty for going there and I'm always satisfied.

Service: Family-owned. Service is friendly, but you do have to wait.

Value: Generous portions. You will feel full and the combos are cheap.

Ambiance: Brentwood food court... much nicer and quieter than Metrotown's, but I much prefer getting my order to go.

Consistently good

This is practically the only fast food vendor I eat at in Brentwood Mall. The food is always fresh, flavourful, and generous. The chicken schwarma platter comes with chicken, greek or caesar salad, pita bread, rice, and potatoes. There is always too much food to finish. The service is pleasant and efficient.

Everytime I go to Brentwood Mall with my girlfriend we always have to stop by Pita King. We always get the chicken shwarma and a can of pop for $5.39. The chicken is really flavourful and juicy. I've tried the beef and it's alrite but I perfer chicken the most. Everytime we eat there we are completely satisfied and the service is really fast (when it's not busy)

Not bad at all for food court fare. I usually get the Beef Donair platter which comes with beef, pita bread, Greek salad, and your choice of rice, potatoes, or half and half. I'm a sucker for those Greek potatoes and the portions are plentiful.
