I can honestly say that this Pho Hong is a disappointment considering they have another location on Fraser & 50th. The pho it self is good, but the springrolls are not nearly as good as the other location. We've only had one server, and we come here almost once or twice a week. But the food keeps us coming back. The set up is a little annoying. I recommend the booths, a little more private. The value of the pho is good, and thats about it. It's always busy and loud, but I recommend it for a quick bite to eat. I've been to many pho places, but this is the best one (that I've discovered), in my neighborhood.
Pho Hong is a dirty cheap Pho place. I've been living in burnaby for years now. and have been a long time customer. but the quality of service has deteriorated to shitt... These viet women in their 55's must be in their menopause state. They should all stay home and hire back some young students who at least smile. The food quality is the same... just as good as before. but... wat about my water. I ask for it not once, not twice but 3 faithful times and i was like 75% done my meal before it finally came. Fire them Old Bitches!
I love Vietnamese food and this restaurant is my favorite! Their menu is great! Food is always fresh and hot! Service is fast!
Everything is great if only the servers could be more friendly and smile... I've been to other Vietnamese restaurants and had the same issue with the servers. They're like robots - no warmth at all.
But the Pho is definitely HOT! Love it!
Being here a lot of times due to the positive visits I have always got. I come again.
Ordered a large bowl of Pho with Fatty Flanks. Came quickly, friendly service. The noodles were outstanding, perfectly cooked bowl of Pho, flanks tasted great, a little bit chewy is how I like it. The broth is very tasty, delicious to my expectations. Lots of noodles, lots of beef, lots of soup broth.
Service was nice, I always liked to have the particular same waiter because she was nice to me and very friendly. Good English compared to other Vietnamese Pho Restaurant waitresses.
Value, was stunningly shocking. $6.50 I believe for a large bowl of Pho that left my stomach bursting. It's $4.00 for a regular-sized Watermelon Slush @ Big Orange, yet $6.50 for a large bowl of Pho that will definitely fill your stomach. Definitely a 5 for price and quality of Pho.
Ambiance, could use a decor, the carpets were... different from other Pho joints, heard it was an Italian restaurant so I didn't mind. Clean tables, comfortable seats to have a nice chat with a friend, would stay as long as I needed to be to finish my Pho, have some time to digest.
Would come again, positive experiences. Not far from Metrotown, for a great Vietnamese Restaurant in Burnaby, spectacular price. Would definitely recommend, go again.
Pho Hong was used to be my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. But not anymore.
I have gone back a few times recently and the quality has been down the tube. A few years ago you would expect very generous portion of pho with a lot of meat, and very tasty broth for the pho.
Now this no longer holds. Portion is mediocre as best. Quality of broth is no longer to be found.
Even Vietnamese chain like Gold Train Express and Pho 99 serve way better pho than here. So sad.
Went in last week, found it busy as usual. Wife had the typical combo special - spring roll was good, but the noodle soup was luke warm. IMO soup should be hot to release its flavor; warm soup just feels unfresh. I had the rice dish, what a mistake. There was NO presentation what's so ever. A big'o plate of white rice and a bowl of overly watery sauce with overly cooked chewy pork. It looks like leftovers I eat at home. My appitite went downhill right there.
As soon as we rest the utensils, the waitress came to deliver the bill. Our dinner lasted about 25 minutes.
Judging by the turn over rate and the low cost to make its dishes in this restaurant, it really should return some of its profit back to its customers in the forms of better quality food, frinedlier service, and much much needed tables/chairs/decors.
I will not go back unless I really have to...
The place was packed around 1 pm. There were still many seats available. We were sat right away. The table cleaned right away. Waving down the waitress to get our orders taken required a bit of effort. The food came pretty fast and we got our beverages came before the food came. When the food arrived, the waitress placed the dish incorrectly. The rice for my lemon grill chicken were mushy and the chopped lettuce were not fresh. The lemon chicken was the only part that went right as the dipping sauce tasted bland.
My impression of the service has gone down. The waitresses were not very friendly. The waitress lack to care about customer service. When my friend asked for the bill, the waitress took the receipt and appear not happy that we requested for the bill. Anyways, I will be hesitant to come back to this place.
