Pho Hoa restaurants feature naturally flavored, low-calorie soups with the choicest slices of brisket, flank, eye round steak. Each bowl of soup is accompanied with fresh coriander leaves, bean sprouts, hot peppers, and lemon wedges.
This is my numero uno place for Pho in Burnaby. Bright young attentive staff. Always fast service and food is always piping hot. Lots of parking. Good prices. Never had a bad meal but remember this is not a high class restaurant. If you only have a half hour for lunch then this is the place.
I was out cruising for p-h-o with Mrs. Chasiubow, and we spotted the Pho Hoa. It looked nice from the outside and there was lots of parking, so we took a chance and tried it. It was good.
I had the big pho with 3 kinds of beef, and my wife had pho with beef brisket and tendons. both were accompanied by usual bean sprouts, hot peppers and cilantro. Because there was no MSG my pho needed a kick, so I added some chili sauce. the beef was flavourful and the noodles had a nice texture. The soup broth was not too salty. We had a spring roll on the side and a coconut juice. They were good too, and I was assured the coconut was fozen, not from a tin.
The service was great, and the servers friendly. We found the place was clean and comfortable. Not fancy but tidy. The place is open 24/7, and every customer gets a free pen. This place won't blow you away, but it won't disappoint either. What more do you want?
Tried this place for lunch a few days ago. Standard Pho food selections open 24 hours. Recommended overall for decent pho and fast service.
Food - Pretty good pho. Tasty and hot.
Service - Incredibly fast service. Our pho was served within 3 minutes and my fried rolls within 5 minutes.
Ambiance - Lacking. Tables and chairs in a cafeteria-like setting.
Stopped in on the way home with my bff on a whim. We both had a small broth and the grilled pork, vermicilli, salad, fried springroll plate. The broth was steaming HOT and deliciously flavoured! The food was fresh, with a crisp salad and a flavourful sauce. Neither of us could find any fault with the food or the service. We will definitely be going back and often. I already am hungry for more!
There's nothing special about their food but it's not bad as in tastes but I wouldn't know about cleanliness though.. Always a good place to go in the middle of the night since its 24/7. The servers always look dead, probably cause I always go at night time. But nonetheless just a vietnamese restaurant
Pho Hoa has great Pho, with excellent service, all for a great price.
Food: When my dad brought me here, I ordered a Kids' meal since I was only 11 and 11 year olds don't eat a large bowl. My dad ordered a Pho Ga and I ordered the Kids' meal, which is a smaller portion of Pho w/ meatballs and briskets w/ a drink(Soda). The Pho came within an acceptable time. Meatballs were good, briskets were good, noodles were good, soup was great, was medium-hot which means it wasn't left alone for a long time. When I finished, I finally found out I was on for a little bit more, so I took some of my dad's Pho Ga. It tasted delicious! Overall, the food was great.
Service: A bit awkward when first walked into restaurant. There was a server standing in the middle of the restaurant, waiting to serve a customer, probably due to seeing car park beside the restaurant. Without having to stand up and going to the server to get our order, just a hand's up had a server come within 5 seconds. Great service.
Value: The value was good, ok for a kids' meal and a Pho Ga. Acceptable/worth it, tipped.
Ambiance: Very clean, probably due to only 3 tables occupied.
Would come again for great Pho. I would recommend it to my friends who know how to enjoy Pho.
We always come here for good, cheap pho, salad rolls and grilled rice noodle entrees. The food has been consistent over the years. Service remains the same. The restaurant could be cleaner. The tables are sometimes sticky and we find we have to wipe down our utensils before eating. However, we cannot complain the food is good!
Pho Hoa, another Vietnamese noodle place. They are very consistent in delivering their soups. No surprises here.
We always order the same noodle soups: beef balls, the rare beef with tendons or the chicken.
The rice dishes are not that tasty as other Vietnamese restaurants.
The service here is better than other Pho Hoas; they are prompt and in less than 5 minutes you got your meal.
Décor is boring as expected of these types of restaurants. The good thing is that they close really late.
I never had a problem with this restaurant as they always deliver what you pay for. Not the greatest flavour though.
I came here with 2 of my friends this afternoon for some sunday morning hangover cure. I had ordered the "pho ga" because I don't eat beef. Service was pretty fast and my strawberry smoothie was good, however the soup looked fantastic when it came piping hot to our table, served with a big side of basil, lime, bean sprouts the usual fixings. I went in to take that firsst bite and wow was I ever dissappoin ted. Not that usual chicken pho flavor that I was expecting. My friends had ordered both with beef and they also said their bowls wern't as tasty as usual. The broth was plain and almost tasteless, I had to load it with basil lime and hot sauce..which made it taste better but not so "pho" like. The broth was also cloudy I had noticed as well. There is much much better pho here in Vancouver, will not come again unless they change up their pho.
My review title basically summarizes our experience at Pho Hoa (Kingwasy & Denbigh). I frequented various Pho Hoa franchises in the past (Canada & USA). Overall, their Burnaby location is, by far, BOTTOM of the BARREL when it comes to their quality of food, service, ambience and value.
Our servers were a bunch of imbeciles who cared less about providing a quality service to their customers. They ignored us multiple times and failed to provide us with the proper food in timely manner. My wife was so pissed she gave them pretty loud lashing about the crappy service, along with no tip.
For Vietnamese food, their food was pretty lackluster. My Beef & Tendon soup tasted like mush out of a ghetto. Even the stock failed to invigorate my senses. In addition, our table was very dirty and look unclean.
Even the ambiance looked worn out and very, very old. The entire place needs a serious POWER WASH. I am surprised this place passed Health Inspection.
Stay away from this DUMP! There are better Vietnamese establishments within the vicinity. And they also treat their customers a lot better.
Went there today for lunch with my family. Almost all 8 of us had the noodle soup. Soup comes nice and hot, perfect on a cold day. Really warms you up. Soup come with lots of noodle but a bit more meat would be better but it's tasty. Lunch and dinner is the same menu. Different part of meat combination soup, eg. beef/flank/tripe/tendon etc. The place is spacious and service was fast enough. It was a quick and pleasant lunch overall.
I used to go to this place all the time when I lived nearby 4 or 5 years ago. I just went back tonight though, and UGH!
Grumpy server, jack fruit shake was warm, spring rolls cold, even though I ordered two spring rolls and my friend ordered a pho and a springroll, they just put all the rolls on one plate with one dipping sauce that we had to share. The servers all sat clustered at a table eating instead of coming by to ask if our food was ok.
Ambience is horrible.. its like a white box with noting Vietnamese about it at all. While we were eating a cop came in to ask about some incident, and we couldn't even park in the underground parking because there were homeless people and crack addict types and garbage.
Mental note: will try the pho place a bit west on Kingsway next time, it looked more packed when we drove by.
Its not a place you should expect much out of. i have been going there for about 2 years now. Service is good always quick to seat you and quick to take orders they dont keep you waiting. Food is always brought out quickly. Food is good always hits the spot not too greasy of a stock like i have found at other vietnamiese restaurants. always a good portion of meat/s in bowl. the smoothies and milk coffee iced or uniced is amazingly good. not a fan of the spring rolls. but soups and vermicilli bowls always make up for it.
Bonus that there open 24/7 and at a good price what more could you ask for. our typical bill for two people including tax is just under 15 dollars. leaving our wallets not empty but our stomachs full and happy!
Again this chain restaurant isn't the best with the decor department but excellent value and big servings.
Did I mention quick ? We're talking 5 mins from order to food on the table. Works for me since I'm on the go and I need fast service.
Chicken pho for me and this is the place to have it.
Been here about 8-10 times ahve yet to be dissapointed.
used to come here all the time in highschool and i don't remember it being so icky. the only thing i enjoyed was the jack fruit slushy. i ordered the lemon grass chicken with rice and spring rolls. the chicken was decent. rice was totally mushy. the lettuce that also came with it was old. my bf had the large pho with 3 kinds of meat; steak, flank, and tendon. too be fair, he did say that it was good. so i guess, if he were writing this review, the food rating would be "solid". the service was not great. the place was dirty. i would not visit again.
My gf and I used to always come here together after we get off work because it's conveniently on route on our way home. The service and pho here used to be good ( noticed I said good, not great) but it started going downhill ever since it opened 24 hours.
The place just looks dirtier and there were flies everywhere! Ok, I exaggerated a bit but you can see flies on the walls and sometimes on the chilli/black sauce bottles. Gross! The quality of the pho has gone down as well for me. It just doesn't taste as tasty as it used too. They also stopped selling chicken wings which was one of my favorite things to order off there.
Service is ok but if you came here expecting to see some hot vietnamese girls working here, think again. There are none! They have middle aged people, ugly girls and ugly guys working here. Most of them can hardly speak any english. Who hires these people???
A tip for everyone: Never eat a 24 hours restaurant because they are dirty!
