Went with the family, and they were just cleaning up a table. As the waitress was wiping the table we indicated the seat was quite dirty and she used the same cloth to wipe it down leaving it wet. We had to ask her for napkins so we could wipe it dry to sit down.
Proceeded to order two #3's (beef and tendon pho) , one #13 (house special, pig feet w/ rice noodle). Even pointed to the items on the menu as the waiter looked and confirmed.
Another waitress came out with THREE #13's. We told her NO, we did not order all these, she again replied "Number 13??". She didn't understand English very well. Eventually we showed her what we ordered and she took the extra two back. However The #13 didn't have any pork! We called the same waitress over and she said they ran out and gave us beef instead. I told her, shouldn't you have told us before you gave it to us? She again repeated they substituted and walked away..
We also didn't get basil w/ our bean sprouts while everybody else did requiring us to ask the waitress three times for it, granted the place was very busy it should not be hard to mess up an order as simple as this.
Absolutely baffled by the service and left no tip, i will NOT give this place my business again and considered asking for the owner.
The food was nothing special, and I had visited this place several times before without such appalling service.
I am not sure why this place got good reviews on the food. I have been there at least twice and I was disappointed on both food and service. OK, I don't really expect good service in Vietnamese Pho restaurant but I do except a decent soup. The chicken soup I ordered was really bland and I had to add a lot of oyster/hot source so that I can finish it. The place is quite busy though. Don't understand it considering there are many better Vietnamese restaurants around Kingsway area. I don't think I will be going back again.
Their ambiance is ok, their service is also ok, but their noodle in soup is what keeps this restaurant going. Not only their food is what keeps it going, but also their business hours. This is one of the best 24/7 restaurant in Burnaby, every time I go their soup surprises me.
We have been here twice.
First time I was blown away with my food- It was so delicious, and so inexpensive. The second time was a bit later into the night and it seemed a bit more sloppy.
Both times the servers were very cold and disengaging. One server seemed to get offended when I asked if they have a beer menu (no they do not).
The place looks clean and has a nice feel to it.
The chicken pho is quite good- and I am not going to lie I am craving it just thinking about it!
