The seafood rice noodle soup I ordered was almost tasteless. The chef must have forgotten to put salt into it. Not only did he forget his salt, apparently he also forgot to take the seafood out of the pot when it was done. Everything was way overcooked. The only thing I liked about the soup was the bean sprouts :(:( Obviously pay $7-$8 for a small plate of bean sprouts isn't exactly what I call good value. It's not likely I will be back.
We are frequent customers of this place, and the food is consistent. It seems to be a family run place, and the servers sometimes seem to be on the young side. They are not friendly, but do sometimes smile, I guess if they're having a good day. The dishes are a smaller than what you might get elsewhere for the price, but it's still enough to be filling. The pho tastes good, and the rice combo dishes are also fine. It's not the best, but it is good solid vietnamese food for that neighbourhood when we're too lazy to go further. The place is a little dirty, and sometimes the menus smell and are sticky, but overlook that and it's fine.
This place is pretty popular at lunchtime. Although quite spacious, I cannot say it's the cleanest Vietnamese restaurant around. The last time I went (last week), I ordered lunch take-out and was handed a regular menu, which was really sticky. Looking around (easier during the daytime), I notice that the carpet was very icky too.
Also, upon entering, it smelled really weird to me. It didn't have the usual aroma that you would find at a Vietnamese restaurant. Instead, it had a weird "home" smell to the place, which was kind of a turn off.
I walked in, and a lady asked me, "Table for 1?", after I said I'm ordering take-out, her attitude changed and made me feel like I was an annoyance. I paid and said I'd be back in 5 to pickup. When I returned, eventhough she saw me, she continued to clean tables. When another lady came and asked what I wanted, she came over and literally tossed my take-out to me without any words.
Food was just decent. Although my springroll & vermicelli was topped with fresh peanuts, it was dry and bland. I do have to give them props for good menu veriety though.
One more thing to add, both the take-out menu and the dine-in menu said my Combo B was $5.95, but I noticed when I returned to work that she charged me $7 plus tax.
We took the family to Pho's for lunch after bowling because it was convenient. We order salad rolls and a couple of large noodle soups.
Salad rolls looked decent enough, but they filled it with too much lettuce. For a 5 year old, this means lettuce explosion.
It lacked any real taste.
Large noodle soup was considered small in other restaurants. $7 for a large with barely any noodles or meat. Very disappointed with the portion size and there was not much taste.
Ice coffee was major disappointment as well. A small glass that barely held any ice and which meant the coffee was too sweet.
I do not recommend going back there no matter how convinient.
