Authentic Vietnamese restaurant that serves appetizers, pho, subs, rice and vermicelli, beverages and desserts in a clean environment.
Drove by several times so wanted to try out this new place. Good menu selection. My hubby had their house special pho and I opted for the vermicelli bowl. Decent soup and meat for the pho, and lots of meat for the vermicelli bowl but the noodle was cold. A bit on the pricey side for pho, if they can readjust their prices, they would have more customers in the long run. The decor is by far the cleanest and nicest I've seen for any pho place, but the layout is kind of weird. Kitchen and tables at the front and a huge long hallway to the back to the washrooms. Service is extremely attentive and friendly by the 2 guys at the front counter, but I need a better reason to go back. So much potential to be a good pho place, but too pricey for my liking. =(
When I first went to Pho 101 I didn't think that much of the food but I've frequented this establishment on a regular basis with friends and family. It always takes a bit of time to establish the taste and dishes that a restaurant puts out.
The Pho soups are tasty and abundant in ingredients, their soup stock is tasty as opposed to other Pho restaurants. The vermicelli dishes are loaded with bbq flavours of beef, chicken or port and lots of food on the plate for the value.
The staff are very friendly and are always easy to oblige to your every request. The ambiance is clean but the atmosphere is a little on the cold side; they could use another door in the long hallway to keep the draft out and the heat inside. The large windows allow alot of natural light into the restaurant but a little colour on the walls would brighten the atmosphere.
Nice place to get together for a bite.
Best springrolls I've ever had.
We order from here all the time for quick, inexpensive dinners. They are always tasty and incredibly fast to be on our table. perfect overstuffed springrolls you could ever imagine. Add the chilli sauce and consider yourself hooked. Though they may not show the true authenticity, the quality and flavor of the springrolls are supreme and should not be overlooked. Noodle and rice dishes are occasionally not hot enough, but the springrolls will surely impress. prices reasonable.
New to the neighbourhood, but definitely not a neighbourhood restaurant by any mean. Expensive for viet food. For a tiny "large" bowl of pho, you can get two at any other viet restaurants on kingsway. Ambience is great. Presentation an A+. But the taste is just not there. I ordered the filet mignon special pho, and had to use half the bottle of hoison sauce just to add taste. Will not go back.
Had the fillet mignon pho, to much money to littlemeat and quality not enough. The soup wasn't even hot, the beef didn't even change shades in it. This place is new but the lines up are nxet door wonder why. The place is decent some nice black and white pictures but....you know. The service was good but...you know.
2times no thanks.
My wife and I were really surprised how modern and welcomely warm this restaurant is. By far the cleanest and pho restaurant I have been in. Seems to cater to the SFU crowd up front, but mom and dad are in the back keeping tradition alive.
Have been there 3 times and tried my usual favs. The fillet minoign pho is real nice. The soup base is the most important imo. Natural flavour of the stock, not too much artificial sodium and very little fat residue. Ingredients look really fresh and well presented. Spring rolls look a bit bigger than usual, but flavour is standard, cooking oil seems very clean. Vermacelli bowl, very tasty and filling - excellent presentation. I really appreciated the effort and attention to detail of the smallwares and condiment dispensers.
Service is excellent by typical pho standards but odd seating arragement works well from a service stand point, mind you, it's a pretty small place. Ambiance and decore is very modern and pleasant. Washrooms are the cleanest and nicest in any asian restaurant. Kitchen looks bright and clean thru the pass thru.
This is the new pho standard for me.
The pho noodle here is decent tasting but a bit on the pricy side. I came on a weekday with a friend and shared a couple dishes. The pho may be only okay, but the vermicelli dishes are delicious! We shared the number 35 which comes with a bit of everything. The portion that was given was very generous as well. Inside the restuarant is very well decorated and has a very modern and clean feeling to it. By far this is the cleanest pho place i have ever been to. The presentation of the dishes also deserves 2 thumbs up. One of the downsides to this restuarant is that it is very small.
I will definitely go back to try out the sandwiches and rice dishes. I would say that this restuarant is worth giving a try.
One of the most expensive, but definitely not the most tasty Pho. The beef in soup are too lean. Therefore it was quite tough. We also ordered the rice dish. The BBQ pork was dry. It didn't taste bad, but somehow I didn't enjoy neither of the dish.
So... I will most definitely not go again. Best of luck there~
the beef for the noodle is way too lean, you can barely chew it. Very expensive given the quality.
will not return. You can have better pho elsewhere. Not worth it at all. STAY AWAY. this place just opened, I really wonder how will they survive.
they close pretty early too...which is a quite inconvenient for the people who have late dinners
The place is close by and I was really hoping it would be good. Unfortunately, found that it was ok at best. The pho is average and the spring rolls were cold in the centre. The prices are high considering the relatively small portions
when compared to other pho places. I wouldn't recommend this place.
The food at this PHO 101 is average, the quantity of the food is very little, the table setting are super weird, and if your place near the door it's super loud cause it slams shut by it self. The Pho is TOO expensive for both the quality and quantity.. it closes super early, so you can't even catch dinner by 9pm cause it closes so early. Basically not worth it. Pho on kingsway are way better, at least the price and quality of the food.
