The One Restaurant is owned by the same owners as Lao Shan Dong Noodle House. Variety of Taiwanese food with no MSG. Also selection of bubble tea, hot drinks, and desserts.
I haven't been to too many Taiwanese restaurants before so dropped by on a weekday. Was not busy as it was before 6pm. The place had a nice spacious feel to it with many booths but they had these stuffed animals or pillows in the entrance that made it look like a kids place but I think their usual customers like this type of decor. The menu was pretty big with specials and then their regular menu. Lots of set dinners much like a HK Cafe would have. Tried their fish which was deep fried - big piece and nicely done. Came with 4 side dishes which included chicken (Ok but sort of out of place), green beans - good, scramble eggs and tomato - good, and some diced carrots/celery and minced beef - not bad. Price was in the $10 range which was reasonable. Also tried their beef tendon/beef shank with some sort of noodle like vermecelli but I think it's made out of some sort of bean - good portion and very tasty. Also tried the spicy wontons. Overall not bad with quick service. Price for 3 people was approx. $40 all in.
Arrived at 11:30am on a Sunday morning.
We had a large party of 18 and they were able to accommodate the large group.
We ordered quickly, the food came out pretty quick.
This Taiwanese restaurant did not disappoint!!
The found was hot and the food was tasty.
We ordered everything from the Wonton Noodles, to the Fried Rice and Hot & Sour soup. Other ordered pan fired egg plant, sweet & sour pork meal, beef curry with Veggies on rice, the "one" DF chicken with rice and the deluxe Pork steak.
The amount of each order could have fed 1.5 - 2 people..
The waitress and the server were very friendly and responsive, but they were very busy as the restaurant filled up.
The music was a bit loud at time, but the music video were pretty good.
The water closet was clean and the restaurant ambiance was very upbeat.
We will definitely go back again !!
Well done "The One", you are number 1 !!!
BTW, they do take credit cards, but only Mastercard
In this restaurant, there is no waiting time for your seats. Portion sizes of their food are enormous, and quality are very good. On the other hand their restaurant is loud and noisy, not a suitable place for you to go if you want a romantic dinner. Price range are from $10-20 per person.
This is beyond one of the worse places I went to.
The first time I went there, wasn't that bad. Got there, was seated quickly because it wasn't very busy, only went cause I saw photos of how huge the BBT was. BBT wasn't really special, you get sick of it quickly and its meant to be shared between two people unless you can drink a lot - other than that itd melt in the other cup (you would know what I mean if you have ordered BBT from here). Food wise, fried rice is huge, could be sharable for 2-3 people. And I didn't bother trying the other things but it was nothing special besides being a large dish.
My second time there tonight was just terrible. When I got there it was quite busy, but I stayed at the area where it says "please wait to be seated" and okay, so I wait. Soon 2 more people line up behind me and was waiting to be served as well. The third person who lined up just went right infront of me and took the list of whose waiting to be seated and wrote her name down. And the guy behind me took it right away to put his name and number of party down. I was pretty choked as I thought you were suppose to wait for the server to do that ... So technically I had to wait longer with my friends. Okay ... no big deal. When we were seated, we were handed the menus immediately, we were not asking whether if we wanted the basic - tea or water. As my friend ordered, she asked for recommendation on what was good and sharable and the waitress suggested some noodle that was only meant for one person - did not realize it until it came, and it tasted plain. After we me and my other friend realized we couldn't quite share the noodle with her, we called someone to help us order fried rice, and they said they would get someone to help us. 10 minutes later, still no one, so we had to ask again and they said they did not help us order. Wait some more ... Got the BBT, and as I tried to take a photo of it, the waitress poured my drink onto another cup and spilled some of the drink on the table. When we asked someone to wipe it, they only half wiped the area as the other area of the table was still wet. The BBT that was ordered came with one straw but it was shared with another friend so I asked one of the waitress to get me another straw. She did not come back ever as I was waiting so I had to ask someone else again to get it. The utensils provided for the tea we ordered wasn't cleaned properly as there are still residues on it.
Overall .. it was a terrible place to dine at, over priced for the BBT (I would recommend bubble world anyday over this garbage), only thing that is worth it is the size of the fried rice, but its really something you can find at any other Chinese restaurants. Service is absolutely terrible, I don't know why would anyone want to come here. Definitely never coming back here again!
