New York Fries serves fresh cut fries, poutine and hot dogs.
Had to take the kids shopping for new clothes. They were hungry, decided to avoid arguments and just let them have poutine and hot dogs.
I decided on ordering a large poutine ($5.95) and added one (1) hot dog ($2.95 when added to fries) I asked for tap water in two cups. The total came to just under $10. The nice girl gave me an extra hot dog container so that I could split up the fries between the two kids. I also cut the hot dog in half to split between the two kids (admitedly, I took a plastic knife from a neighbouring fast food outlet as NYF does not have knives). I took ketchup, corn relish and regular relish in little cups for condiments. They also had sour kraut and some other condiments available.
The hot dog was standard, I liked the bun and it was tasty enough. The corn relish could have used a bit more bite (perhaps some more vinegar). The fries were tasty and made fresh, the cheese curds were nice and the gravy was tasty and steaming hot. The amount of food was perfect. The kids were satisfied, I nibbled on a few fries and had a bite of hot dog too and there was no waste.
It was not a healthy snack - but I knew that from the onset. I appreciated the staff's willingness to give me the extra paper container so I could split up the order between the kids. I also appreciated her giving me tap water (as soda pop would have just made the whole snack TOO unhealthy). It also kept my costs down a little.
I won't go out of my way to go the mall (I am not a fan of shopping malls anyway). But I will likely return if I'm at a mall out of necessity and want an indulgent snack for the kids.
