I go to SFU and generally bring a lunch, being a student on a tight budget. I get coffee from here often, and the occasional lunch. The quiche is good (leek and feta) but the quesadillas are very poor. I think they sit too long. The coffee is amazing. My only real complaint is the owners, well at least the guy. He brings up inappropriate or sensitive topics (abortion, religion, child rearing and how you are doing it wrong etc) with his patrons, unsolicited. Don't bother sitting down at the place if you're looking for a little peace and quite, you won't get it. He would talk to you for hours, again on subjects that you probably weren't expecting to be grilled on during your lunch break, if he was allowed to. The last time I was in there he actually asked someone to leave because they were only drinking coffee and he felt that it was too busy for her to be taking up a chair. They weren't smoking busy, and I'm sure that they've lost her as a customer, plus all the people she's going to tell her story to. So, if you are at SFU and you want awesome and very cheap coffee, go to Natures Garden. Just avoid the guy behind the counter.
I had their squash soup lunch special with a feta and tomato quiche. The quiche is on the dry side but the soup helps it to go down. the soup is very thick and a hint of cinnamon.
The best is still their paninis, pricey but very crispy and you can pick out the distinct flavours of the things inside and it's quite filling for their half wedge.
The last two reviews are very true. I love the coffee, the muffins and the soups! But not the guy... He just doesnt get it when you want to be left alone! Even if you've got a book in your hand and your iPod on the table. And yes, he tends to pick abrasive topics, or just too intense of topics for discussion over lunch with a stranger. But, the food is very good and I just get everything to go.
SFU student - and I am cheap, but I am sick of bad food!
The food here is good (good enough to write about it) and i like Nature's Garden atmosphere. The place feels like your grandma's house and it is relaxing when the weather is cloudy and raining (as it always is at SFU).
Their coffee is great - the best on campus. However, with all the organic food stuffs it can get on the pricier side - I think I pay about $2 more for a sandwich than I should - but the quality is better than most places. I am not big on organic food so I don't like paying up for it. But the food is high quality - you can tell.
Only bad experience was a dry muffin - I didn't complain, but they may have replaced it if I asked them to.
Over all - worth a try.
Positives: Food is fresh, Organic (if that means something to you), Very good coffee.
Negatives: Value - not the best.
This place has a great cozy atmosphere. You'll find little knicknacks of the owner's as decorations all over the place. It's perfect for when you want to just relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. Their cafe borgia is very good, it's like a cafe mocha. They have the best paninis; always filling. The food are all homemade, on-site except for the bread. Overall a great place to hang out and chat, do some work, or eat your lunch. The owner's are very friendly, service has always been good when I visit. I also love the fact that they endorse fair trade coffee; The only thing im not crazy about are the prices. Its more expensive there because all of the ingredients are organic and fair trade.
