A Korean Bakery with a French twist.
I was in the hood and craving bakery items, and I remembered a friend telling me that this bakery was run by a Korean guy who studied baking in Paris. "What the heck, I'll try it", I thought.
When I went in, the place looked clean if a bit disorganized. They have coffee and sandwiches and little tables to sit at if you are seeking a quick lunch. But I came for something sweet. After checking out the options, I noticed that they had mostly Korean baked goods which all seemed to have some kind of bean paste inside. Yikes! The cashier had no English so she couldn't advise me regarding appropriate choices.
Finally I decided on some cookies, which looked safe enough. I put 7 little (1.5" diameter) cookies in the self-serve bag and presented it to the cashier. She weighed it and it came to an astounding $7.81. Since I couldn't communicate with the cashier in any known language, and because just bolting out of the store would be unseemly, I paid up and got out, never to return. At least the cookies tasted okay...
