Milestones serves a seasonally rotating menu of Internationally inspired cuisine in stylish, relaxed atmosphere.
I have been to this location 6 times over the years and have always gone away satisfied. Food is always good no matter what you order and service is always what is expected. Easy to see the staff has some training before serving the public. Lots of parking available on and off premises. Terrific ambiance comfortable booth seating. Normal conversation is possible not at all like Earl's on Lougheed where you get a headache from the noise.
Although we had never been to this Milestones, we booked a group of 14 for a wedding rehearsal dinner last month. It was a great choice. The food was delicious and there were so many tempting choices on the menu. The staff were prompt and friendly. And they even gave a complimentary dessert with sparklers to the bride and groom to be. We'll definitely be back.
Never great but never bad. Food is a little overpriced. Some dishes more than others. My friend asked for her bacon well done and it was almost raw so it had to be sent back. The service was attentive at first bur got worse as the time went on but stil not too bad. We waited a really long time for dessert and finally someone came and said that they ran out of ice cream and had to go to the store for more. That was weird. After a long wait the dessert my friend's order came and we didn't have to pay for it. The kids we were with were told that they were giving them strawberries and whipped cream for free until their ice cream(which is included in the kids meals) came. They never did get any even when the other dessert came. When the bill came, we were told the kids desserts were on the house too, but I now realized that they are included in the meal and nothing was taken off, so really they were not free and they did not get what they wanted.
For many years I have been going to the Earle's & Cactus Club which are within two blocks of Milestones. I found the ambiance much nicer at Milestones as it is much quieter and a lot more relaxing then their competitors. I think Milestones is a little less expensive and I liked the items on their menu. Parking at Earle's and Cactus Club can be challenging but I noticed Milestones had free valet parking
SERVICE: our server was timely, efficient and friendly.
FOOD: I've always loved Milestones for their brunch menu and this time I ordered the prime rib hash... it was very tastey (albeit a little greesy -- good for hangovers though!) My companions had the tiger prawns in red curry and the roast chicken (a good deal at $9.99) Both the other two dishes tasted good as well...Presentation overall was very good.
The keylime pie I had for desert was the best-presented key lime pie I've seen and it contained real zests of lime with coconut! yum!
VALUE: While milestone's is your run of the mill chain restaurant, I do feel that it's stepped up to become one of the better, more consistent restaurants. Prices aren't cheap and for the money I can easily spend at a dinner here, I'd rather go to a fine dining resturant... however, it's a relaxed atmosphere and if you're feeling like a casual night out with some good food and don't mind losing on the value a little bit, why not? =-)
I was back with my teenage kids and a like aged relative from italy of the same age to show her a Canadian style burger. Remember when I said the bottomless pop and fries was a blessing with teens? Well guess what, with the water advisory their soda machine is out of service because of the lack of water, no problem right? wrong, they brought us cans of pop instead. not only not botomless but they charged 2.70 each! i've been to other restaurants during this water advisory and the ALL offered reaasonably priced alternatives i.e. bottled water for a buck or 1.50 pops, but not this place. I don't like being taken advantage of. They just lost me as a repeat customer.
Food: Cajun popcorn shrimp is always a favorite of mine here and I'm so glad they don't serve it from that stupid cone anymore cuz it's easier to fork when it's on a plate. Had the fettucine mendocino which was very good and I'm glad the sauce was more on the thin side cuz I was afraid it was going to be super thick and creamy. The only thing it needs is less mussels and more prawns but other than that, it was really good. My bf had the 8oz sirloin with prawns and he loved it - the steak was seasoned and cooked just right. Even the caesar salads were very tasty, esp. when they add fried/mash garlic to it to give it a nice twist on the typical caesar salad. No room for dessert... :( The only thing I had qualms with is that its a little more on the pricy side.
Service: Very good the entire night. We were seated after about 5 min (on a Fri night!) and our waiter was there shortly after we were seated. Never had to ask for water once and just when I was about to ask for a spoon, he asked me if I wanted one... spooky... ok, not really. LOL.
Ambiance: Great for a date. Booths are very comfy, the lighting is nice and the whole place is just great for having intimate conversations or just casual chatter.
We had a great time at Milestones the other week. We were a party of 6 plus 1 baby and they accommodated us without a problem.
Our server was really nice and saw to the needs of the baby (warm water, napkins, etc) and she did it with a smile.
The food was good, I ordered the prime rib. It was cooked to my liking and the sides it came with was also good. There were no complaints about the food at the table and there was no rush to get us out of there either.
The restaurant is family friendly since I saw lots of tables with younger children. They can get busy, but it seems like they have it all under control
My husband and I decided to go to Milestone's for their annual Free Date Night event last night. We got to the Milestone's on Lougheed and Willingdon at around 5:40pm. There was already a huge lineup outside the restaurant. While we waited, the hostess brought out drinks and appies periodically, and we got taster glasses of wine, and bite-size spinach dip appies. The wait was alot quicker than we had anticipated, and we got seated within 35-40min. The place was packed but the service was super friendly and prompt. Our drink orders were taken right away, and our drinks arrived within a minute.
For appies, I ordered a mexican style corn chowder, while hubby ordered the "famous" ceasar salad (Milestone's ceasar is our favourite ceasar that we've had at restaurants). For entree I ordered a sirloin with shrimp (which comes with a ceasar salad), and hubby ordered the chef's cut (large size) prime rib. Again the service was excellent and food arrived very quickly. When our appy plates were cleared, we had to wait about 5-10min for our entrees, but really, that was the longest wait time we had all night and I suspect it was because our meat wasn't put on the grill until the appies were cleared (which is perfect because meat should be cooked-to-order). When the steak and prime rib arrived, we were again very much surprised and delighted that the "cookmanship" was so excellent. The meat was cooked JUST RIGHT. There have been VERY VERY VERY few restaurants that have cooked our meats just right, and honestly I can only remember (offhand) Milestone's as such a restaurant. While we were discussing this, our waitress even stopped by to ask specifically if our meat was cooked to our liking. We told her how we were impressed. At the end of the dinner, the waitress told us how she had conveyed our approval to the kitchen staff, who were very happy to hear it, as they had been worrying about this event. I told our waitress that everything was done right, the wait was ok, the food was excellent, service was polite and prompt, and it was really an outstanding evening (would have been a superb experience even not factoring in the event, so I was extra impressed since they were handling so many customers!).
I decided that Milestone's is under excellent management.
We finished our dinner and left at around 7:20pm (1hr 40min from the time we arrived, even including wait time).
Again, Milestone's has far exceeded our expectations.
Milestones is a good restaurant chain in that you can usually find something to suit all tastes, good decent food at decent prices, have a good time, and not take a beating in the wallet. It's not a bad casual date restaurant, either.
Food: A solid selection of 'west coast' cuisine ranging from burgers, to seafood pasta dishes, to Kobe beaf meatloaf. Nothing has wowed me, but nothing has disappointed me, either. The margaritas are big and taste good, as well. (unlike the artificial syrupy taste you find at other places)
Service: Can be a bit hit or miss, but no horror stories in my dozen-odd trips there. Milestones is obviously a bit less looks-obsessed than Earls or Cactus Club, which leads to less service nightmares.
Ambiance: This location isn't nearly as modern as their other locations (especially Robson), but it is usually always very busy.
As you can see from my previous reviews, I have never been dissapointed with a Milestone's experience. I can't say that I was dissapointed here ither, but the food was definatly not as good at this location as it is at the 4th and Bayswater Milestone's. I ordered my usual a double hamburger with fries. Sure it tasted ok (but why couldn't it have been as good as the 4th and Bayswater location, or the Robson st location that I went to a few weeks ago?) Also I am able to order a side fettucini noodles and a side of alfredo sauce at both the 4th adn Bayswater location and the Robson location to make my meal more cheaper, Not here though.
Service wasn't anything to brag about, nothing special. My friend ordered a hot chocolate and it toke them awhile to bring it to her, so then they didn't charge her for it, so that was nice.
It wasn't too bad tonight, but all in all, i'll be giving this location a pass, as I am far more pleased with the other MIlestone's locations that I have gone to before.
I've been to this location serveral times, the most recent this past weekend. I've alway been pretty luke-warm about this place. I find the service and the food to be fairly inconsistent. Still, recommended for their always fantastic bellinis, and great curly fries.
Food - Sampled their prime rib, medium rare. Pretty tasty and a great cut of meat for the price. The accompanied veggies and mash potatoes were okay. My significant other had the four-cheese burger and fries. At least one of the four cheeses was pretty strong with a sharp after-taste.
Service - Friendly and polite, but noticeably slow. Restaurant looked to be medium busy, though it took quite a while for our food to arrive.
Ambiance - My SO was unimpressed with the decor. I thought it was pretty normal, but certainly nothing to write home about.
Food: my favorite would be their chicken foccacia sandwich, grilled chicken salad with their raspberry vinegrette and grilled chicken pesto fettucini. Although it's a big chain restaurant, the location at Richmond isn't as good compared to this one.
Service: I really like the service here, the servers seem to enjoy their job and there's always a smile on their faces. Also the working area is smaller compared to other locations, so their attention to their customers are better.
I have gone back to this location time after time.
I've been to Milestones in Bby numerous times and it's always a favorite with friends and family. I like this location because the ambience is nice, service is always good, there's lots of parking and it's not too loud and dark like Cactus Club et al. I find the Artichoke Dip pricey but it's still worth it if you're sharing it with others. It's still the best one out there and I've tried it at all different restaurants.
Recently had dinner at the Burnaby Milestone. As usual, their prime rib is the best in the lower mainland. Other meals are pretty good too. Food quality is consistently great!! Service is adequate, but the hostesses could be more attentive and chat between themselves less.
An ok meal with very poor service. From the hostess greeting to the order process, this location is the worst we have ever been to. Our server forgot everything we ordered or asked for, most things twice. A very poor experience; no one seemed to care though. No worries, we won't be going back. Their other locations are, for the most part a really good experience, they may want to take heed.
Went here for lunch with my friends on Saturday. I worked in the area 12 years ago and it was like stepping back in time since almost nothing had changed, so for me, this Milestone's looks dated.
I had the California salad, which is mixed greens, pecans, strawberries, and goat cheese. At $10.99, I would have liked to see more strawberries, but there was plenty of goat cheese, which was a welcome addition. I added a piece of grilled salmon for $5.99. It was unseasoned and about the size of a credit card--disappointing! The salad was tasty, but the value wasn't there.
Our server was mediocre and never smiled. Waters weren't refilled. She perked up a bit when we ordered a round of bellinis. Otherwise, she was blah and seemed almost annoyed at our presence.
It's a good standby, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
Because it's a Saturday night, we called ahead to see how long it would take to seat a table for two. The hostess let us know that they actually had a table open so if we could come quickly we would be seated immediately--she was happy to take down my name to hang on to the table and I said we would be there in 10 minutes. When we got there, it took a few minutes waiting up front for someone to notice us and come by to help, but we were seated right away as promised.
Roasted corn and potato chowder was really good, I liked the spice. I had the red curry chicken, which was full of flavour and had a lot of heat. Boyfriend had chicken pesto fettucini but I felt so bad for him after I had a taste because it was so bland and blah, especially compared to my red curry. I think in general it's probably best to order entrees that aren't listed under pasta, because I've had other dishes from that section and wasn't impressed by the flavour. (While the portobello chicken is served with pasta, it's under Urban Classics and is my boyfriend's favourite dish.) Probably not isolated to this location because I had the same experience with the chicken penne at the Langley Milestone's.
The server was friendly but after she brought the bill it took a long time before anybody came by to pick up the credit card. I'm not sure, it might had something to do with a system issue the server told us about, and she ran the credit card through a handheld device instead.
++ on the food rating because brunch here is great. Recommend the California eggs benedict with grilled shrimp.
My friends and I love to come here after long and crummy days at work because we know we're going to 1: have a good meal 2: get a genuine smile when the day has been total garbage 3: a place to unwind and let it all go. We always have the spinach and artichoke dip to start (always!) and it's just the best. I've tried for years and years to try and make it myself at home but to no avail. Probably a good idea otherwise I'd be eating it all the time. Their prime rib is a favourite as is the seafood pasta. Always consistently good. Our favourite server, Kim, is just a doll! She knows exactly how we like our orders and never misses a beat. We've been let down by these folks only once or twice and the place was just jammed on a Friday night both times. They fixed the problems up right away so we were ok with it.
I still have that "garage feel" when I go to this Milestone's.
Friendly face at the door, friendly face taking the order, but don't call for after-order service, they seem to get "edgy"!
Not much to say, overall experience was just that!
There are so many places to eat now, so I'm going elsewhere for my money!
