Little Tokyo's is a tiny but very friendly sushi restaurant with a large menu. Dine in, have your food delivered or take out.
Mrs. C and I were looking for something light and we spotted this place. The restaurant was nice and clean and looked new-ish. The service was good, and the staff seemed friendly. The prices were reasonable too. We both had roll combos with miso soup and they were okay, but my beloved dining partner thought the sushi rice was a little too sticky. I think it was because the sushi was at the proper room temperature, and not chilled like at many places. I liked it so I will have to respectfully disagree with my master.
This place didn't change my life, but it was a nice meal at a decent price.
I will be back soon.
if you are looking for a basic sushi and teriyaki place then this place fits the bill. i know they have their regular crowds. IMHO, this place is pretty far removed from an authentic Japanese restaurant. But they got all the regular items you would find at a typical N. American Japanese Restaurant. Nothing here stands out. The food is basic and to the point. The portions are above average so you get your money's worth. But if you are a seasoned Japanese foodie, this place may not rate so high. Family run business. Believe possibly Vietnamese owners. I've tried the tempura, teriyakis and salmon sashimi. All pretty basic stuff. Nothing stood out in the time i was here. Not a dining experience, but good enough if you just want to fill your hungry belly and are in the neighbourhood..
Service here can be extremely slow during busy times - not because the employees are incompetent or aren't working hard, but because they just get WAY TOO MANY ORDERS! I've sat at the sushi bar watching the chef make roll after roll non-stop at a high speed for an hour straight!
The rolls are big for the price. Definitely not a "foodie experience", but a good place to get a sushi fix. For something interesting, try the Deep Fried California Roll - I love it! Spicy Salmon Roll is also very good.
Although the ambience is a bit lacking, Little Tokyo's menu is large, their food is excellent and best of all: they deliver! This is the type of joint where the employees remember your name and are interested in how you're doing. The sushi is excellent: it's always fresh 'n' tasty; the prices are reasonable; and the delivery is always fast and efficient. It's our favourite sushi place in Burnaby.
I didn't find this place too spectacular. I was expecting average, but this place was a bit below. The chicken teriyaki was good, but the batter for the tempura was too thick, and soft. Not so tasty, at all. The rolls were not spectacular, but they were decent - your average stuff. Overall, it was disappointing, but I don't regret trying it out, as I do like to give other establishments a try.
The restaurant itself is a nice clean atmosphere with friendly staff. I felt nice and comfortable inside, and have no complaints about the level of service.
Overall, this is an okay place for sushi, but I personally would skip this for another restaurant down the block.
Avocado rolls are large with eight pieces, as opposed to the six pieces that most sushi places give you, and with very generous portions of avocado. Excellent prices, the best I've seen anywhere. Nice friendly people, even though the service is slow when they're very busy. I'll definitely go back again.
I've been here quite a few times. The food is good, not really pretty looking, but it will fill you up. I especially like the vegetable tempura, because they always give you something different. I was surprised by the eggplant tempura, it's actually pretty good. Anyways, the atmosphere is alright, they've got a tv and they have some huge mural on the wall. The service was good, and the owners are nice. One time I came really late (I think they were about to close), and the two things that I ordered had to be substitued as they ran out of the ingredients. They let me choose any type of sushi for no extra cost. I've always left full and satisfied.
