Located in Burnabys Brentwood Town Center, Koryo serves up Korean barbeque and side dishes with no preservatives and no msg. Food orders are fired up on a hot grill right before your eyes.
I agree the Brentwood Mall food court is decent, and offers good value as competition makes the food kiosks generous.
I tried the Koryo jumbo combo ($10) just to try a bit of everything they offer. This was excellent value. It can easily feed two, I couldn't finish half of it.
The grilled BBQ short ribs were amazing. It also comes with a piece of grilled beef, and one chicken thigh. These were okay.
They grill the meats freshly when you order though the chicken is bone-in and was pre-cooked.
They also included three deep-fried dumplings which were pretty good, I liked the dumpling dipping sauce.
I was expecting a choice of two side items but they offered four, and this also comes with two scoops of rice. Needless to say this was a really big meal.
The sides include kimchi, which was okay, the pieces of cabbage were really big, steamed frozen beans/brocolli dressed in sesame seeds. The deep fried garlic potatos were yummy. The zuchinni fritters had too much batter. Other options include macaroni salad, noodles etc.
Overall I liked it, and would return for the short ribs.
I have to say, the Brentwood Mall food court has got some pretty good choices compared to some other malls. But when I say good choices, I don't mean variety. Every mall has the regular fare: chinese, sandwich, pizza, mexican, greek, etc. What's different is the quality of food these kiosks crank out.
Everytime I order from Koryo, I get the bbq chicken sandwich combo (sandwich, side, drink for under $7) with fries or glass noodle usually.
2 pcs of juicy chicken thigh meat sandwich between bun and veggies - delicious!
Best part of the meal has to be the korean bbq sauce they use. A tip: pump extra for dipping your fries in!
