Joey Burnaby combines home-style Mediterranean cuisine with new and exotic tastes from the Orient.
This is the newest incarnation of the popular chain, taking over the old Shark Club space. I like Joey's because you get the same food, service and experience at every location though I noticed all the locations sliding in the food category lately.
The space has been transformed and looks great. Music is loud so be prepared momentary yelling matches. Most of the tables around us looked like UFC goons so I imagined that this place would be packed on fight nights. New tv units surround the entire bar/lounge area making for decent views from almost anywhere.
We ordered mostly appetizers like the tandoori flatbread, ahi tuna tacos and crab dip and in return you get exactly what you expect from Joey's. The lettuce wrap was it's usual extra salty self so beware if you're sodium light. Drinks unfortunately were awful. It was disheartening to learn that our server did not know how to mix a Tom Collins considering it's an official cocktail and as such came horribly prepared. A Jack and Coke was also butchered. I swear Joey's (I'm sure as with other restaurants) has been making small price increases to menu items, offering diminishing value to some menu items that are now starting to become overpriced.
Other than those maladies, our server was as expected - not too over the top versus most of the other servers around.
Love the space, but it's getting hard to justify the prices.
Went to Joey's for lunch. First thing I noticed, was the music was a bit loud.
Hostesses and servers were friendly, but not in an overly fake way.
My friend was drinking the Gringo beer special, which she raved about.
They layout is similar to how it was as Sharks club, but with a few changes.
The view of the restaurant is outstanding. The place itself is very clean, and very easy to look at.
Loads of HDTV's to watch the game.
Food was very good.
Also has a beer and wine store located downstairs.
This place is stocked with full of hotties and that should be a reason alone to come here. The blonde waitress is a dream for sure. The atmosphere in this place is amazing. Always playing good music, the lights are relaxing and the wine tastes good, not to mention the food. I've had a few things here but I really like their Burgers and Chicken Burger as well as their wings which are second to none. I have watched a few Canuck games at Joeys and drank my fair share of screwdrivers which were alright. They also have a good selection of wine and again the ladies in their short dresses at this place are all at least 8's.
Would like more choices as I frequently have to force myself to find something that looks appealing to me. However, the food is always good when it comes... but I never come here for the food.
Servers are friendly and atmosphere is great. Great place to watch a game. I've been waiting for something like this to open in Burnaby for a long time.
I was there for dinner with my husband, we try ahi tuna taco, and I love it very much, their caesars alittle bit salty, bc halibut and prawn spagettini was great, panang curry bowl also good too, I love their bellini, Will come back again when we have someone take care our kids....
Service was excellent, but the only thing I wish I can come alittle later, they only let us book our take at 5:30pm, too early for dinner.
I have been to the Joey's downtown and the food there was incredible, as was the service.
I have never been to the location on Lougheed and likely never will because while the food may be good, walking through disgusting smoke and having my clothes smell like it ruins a good meal. I am not about to pay for that "privlege." There are no signs reminding guests of the smoking by law and forces non-smokers to walk through that disgusting air.
I spoke to a manager at the restaurant and while she was pleasant, I did not get a huge desire to change this situation. Instead of offering any concrete solutions or actions, she told me that I could use a side door to gain entry. So instead of doing anything about illegal activity by her guests, she tells me to ignore the whole thing and use a side entrance.
That is disappointing.
