House of Wings is in Highgate Mall on the corner of Kingsway and Hall Avenue in Burnaby. Lots of parking inside Highgate Mall's large indoor parking lot. Over 30 different flavours of wings, burgers, pastas, steaks, lobster & much more. We play all local & PPV sports events. Daily lunch, dinner and drink specials.
Due to the snow fall, we decided to have lunch near where we live. We decided to give The House of Wings
another try. It has been a few years since we had gone before and they were still there, so I thought perhaps it might be ok.
The ambiance was like a dive bar with dirty carpet, chipped tables and the top of the table was sticky. We asked the waitress to wipe it off, she did so, and we soon realized it was still sticky.
I had the wings, The were so so... with just a shaker of spice sprinkled over my dry ones.
Rainbowcrab had fish and chips. The fish was actually ok looking and tasting, but the fries were cold and not fully cooked.
We had 2 servers. The female whispered and we could not hear her or understand her. The male was perky
and very nice.
Ok no more,,, and hope one day we will get another restaurant there.
I hoped to catch a game at this location but found that the bathrooms were in disrepair, the draft beer was 'broken' and after much consideration ordered 'nachos'.
It came with a small side of salsa, and when I asked for more it was .50 a serving.
Whoever is setting these locations up needs to up their game, make the locations look presentable, forget 'user pay' or they'll be gone next time the leases are up
I won't be back
Where do they get the micro or mini chickens from? Granted the wings are served in 2 parts..only half a wing comes to the table,'yet you are charged for a "WING"; these wings were about 1 1/2 inches long and about 3/4 of an inch wide. I ordered 12 fire and Ice and 12 sweet chili,Sauce on both tasted the same and almost broke out laughing when they arrived''I could have eaten 100 wings this size''Lol!!
The wings we ordered on Sunday were 37cents each. However, they had less flavours than Wings down a couple blocks on Kingsway. The food here was good, considering we only ordered wings. The large TVs there are great to watch sports. I would come back to try watching some hockey once the season starts.
Personally, I prefer House of Wings to Wings down the street when we want to be able to hear each other speak so the ambiance is all good in that department.
The wings are as expected, deep-fried with sauce and some sauces taste better than others. Ribs special were fall-of-the-bone, but somehow when they are ordered as a regular item, they were more dry and not worth the $16. Burgers are a better deal in the $8 range with fries/salad. Wings are currently 37 cents between 2-5pm daily and all day Sunday w/ purchase of a drink so that's what I'd recommend.
I've been here a few times and have always found the wait staff pleasant and accommodating. Servers and the kitchen were keen in pointing out the tastier items on the menu and they were right. I can understand the 10 wings per sauce policy because once you make an exception, what's the point of a policy?
I come back because I'm in the area and it's decent.
Went with my family a few weeks ago. We ordered wings to share and entrees. They were not flexible with the sauces (10 per sauce) even though, when the wings arrived, it was clear they were deep-fried and the sauce was added afterward.
Our entrees were passable, but nothing stellar, on the bland side.
For the price, it was crappy.
As for the interior of the place, I have to agree with previous reviewers...It's just odd.
Also, when I went months previous they had a toilet out of order in the women's bathroom, and it was still out of order when I went under new name and ownership (with the same sign).
Hate to say this, but it was better as an Applebees.
been here a couple times once with my wife
we cruised in for the house specialty , the wings
my wife is Thai so we wanted something spicy.
the waitress [who was new] recomended the cajan sauce ones
well they were very small indeed and not spicey and overall dissapointing
should have just had the old buffalow wings I guess
I would have prefered to go to the oliver twist were the wings are 29 cents insted of 39 cents
how ever it was nice clean and roomy in there ..
we ate up and will not go back for wings again.
another time I went there to watch the ufc
when i got there there wasn't many people in there i orderd a beer looking at the menu
I then call the waitress over and asked what time the ufc started and to my surprise
she told me they canceled showing it becouse it was too expencive
well thats it.... nothing will get me back in there now ....yeeesh....
Went to this place expecting some good wings but i guess not. Went to Wings down the street but some of us didnt have ID to get into there so we came to House Of Wings. First off the waitress TOTALLY forgot about us and we waited 15-20 mins for food/drinks. Was disappointed with the wings wasnt good at all.
We were in the area and dropped in to see if house of wings could compete with wings. it sooo does not. First off, the place looks great. It's not quite finished but it's getting there. We ordered a couple of pops as we were in a rush. We placed our order and w---a---i---t----e----d. We wanted to order 12 wings. Just so you know they come in groups of 10. We asked for 6 to be one flavour and 6 to be another. She siad no they don't do that. If this is to be a wings place you have to be flexible. X number 1 for us. The wait time was far too long. Seriously. When our food arrived, the brushetta was lukewarm. You can tell it had been sitting. The green salad I ordered for 8 or 9 dollars was just spinach, mushrooms, a tiny bit of onion and an egg to the side. It was not worth the price. For lukewarm food and oeerpriced salad that is strike number 2. Finally the bill came and each pop cost $3.89!! (or somewhere in that ball park range) Yes I know it was free refills but they used generic cola and not coke. Far too expensive. Our two pops cost more then the brushetta!!!! That was strike number 3. Will NOT be back. Ugh.
Came here during their weekday wings special, when the restaurant was on its downtime. Even though it wasn't very busy, our server was not attentive, slow, and simply unenthusiastic. The prices for the meals are what one would expect from a casual burger & wings spot, though the food took forever to come out and wasn't even that warm. The interior of the restaurant is comfy and spacious, and looks pretty good. Would not recommend though.
So I read the reviews on here before i went to the house of wings, and was a little nervous to go as we had about 14 people in our party dining here. I pr-warned everyone I have heard it is really slow service. our server was AMAZING!!! when a drink was low we got new ones, our food arrived all at the same time, and it was hot!!! my brother ordered wings and they were delicious. I don't think anyone had a complaint, in fact my dad said he was going to go back the next night to have dinner, 4 people at the table ordered the ribs, and they were soooooooo good!!! the meat was nice and tender!! i would deffinately go back there. The food was reasonably priced, mine and my husbands meals with a drink and tip added (big parties have tip added to bill already) came to 19$. I think even if the service had been slow I would go back, it really is a good little place to go to!
