Clean and friendly

First thing I noticed was how clean the restaurant is which is definitely a good sign. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was respectable; we ordered the usual Butter chicken, Biryani, naans, etc and it was all good. This was our first time and we'll probably go back as I can't think of anything negative except acoustics in the room allow you to hear every conversation at the other tables. Parking on Hastings is easy except during rush hour (no parking).

Ketchup or curry?
By xantidote of Burnaby (22 Reviews)
Submitted Thursday, April 14, 2011 - 6:51pm [Dine in]

Decided to try handi one night when we were craving some Indian food. When we first entered I noticed the bowls of curry on another patrons table and it was huge. Clearly I was mistaken as I later found it was actually a plate suspended on a warmer.

The food was terrible. We ordered the butter chicken, vindaloo and a vegetarian cheese curry as well as some naan. The naan was cooked fairly nicely and was probably the only notable dish. The butter chicken tasted like ketchup. The vindaloo was not spicy at all (we asked for medium heat) and the vegetarian curry was bland. To be honest all 3 curries tasted the same. No spices, no curry flavor, just ketchup.

The portions were so small. For $13 you get this small shallow plate of curry with about 5 pieces of chicken in it.

Will definitely not be returning.
