Grand Buffet boasts a buffet featuring a variety of Asian cuisine including dim sum, sushi and much more.
I've tried dining here on number of occasions. The place is dingy and there's this stale sort of smell in the air. The waitresses every time I've been there (4-5 times) have been irate and almost bored of their job.
You can ask for water six times and on the seventh, if you are lucky, they'll carelessly pour it all over your glass and table.
I know the price is low but c'mon. Not THAT low.
The food is well edible, some of it. the sushi is a nightmare. The dim sum is clearly old and carelessly made.
the selection is little. I don't know why I tried this place so many times. The one okay thing is crab they offer for dinner but there's no way in hell I'm paying this place more even if there is crab.
No wonder when I arrived in the parking lot there is almost no car parked in there. My family and I went to Grand Buffet Restaurant in Kingsway for my cousin's graduation. To my surprise, their food was warmed up not freshly cooked and the place is really DIRTY!! I'm talking like disgusting and never cleaned before. The waitress were rude and really annoying. They don't even smile to you or even asked how is the food. The buffet tray was empty meaning there is almost no food served in there. The sushi oh my! That is the worst sushi ever... gross!!
If you don't want to have tummy ache like I did please don't ever go to this restaurant as this is probably one of the disgusting buffet place next to UNCLE WILLY'S!!
After reading the reviews on here, I already had my expectations set pretty low, but it was even worse than i thought it would be.
The atmosphere was horrible. The furniture couldnt be any worse, the floors were all sticky, and they dont do anything to make the place look nice. Out of the dozens of dishes, I only found one or two that were actually decent; I didnt even bother trying the sushi since the sashimi looked weird. The service was slow and they werent polite. I suppose the only good thing about this place is there was no time limit.
p.s. I wouldnt have the ice cream, we saw the same kid have his hands in there a number of times..
When my family decided to come here on a (2010) Sunday for dinner, we were kinda scared of the empty tables that welcomed us. The waitress took us to our table, filled our glasses with water, and left us to wander around and discover the shocking amounts of oil and grease that was not only on the food, but also on the floor (which made it slippery).
There were three long tables with basically Chinese food take out menu. The other table was for sushi and sashimi that looked very questionable. The sashimi available were only tuna and salmon. The salmon was looking really old so I had to wait almost ten minutes to find a waitress in this deserted restaurant and asked her if they were going to bring out a new batch of fresh sashimi, as the salmon was looking brownish/yellow. To my surprise, she said that those were just the salmon (or different salmon) they had. I was shocked to find out they were all salmon, as almost half of them was truly brown and looked like tuna sashimi--only worse.
All of the food selection were basically Chinese food that you can get from a take out menu. Everything was covered in grease, even supposedly healthy vegetables did not escape the hands of the cook who seemed very enthusiastic with loading everything with unhealthy oil and grease. All of the food were old, the fish dish in one tray was all just fish bone, until my mom asked the waitress (who seemed to hate her job and did not care) if they were gonna bring a new one.
They had a fridge with ice cream buckets where you serve yourself. My brother got a bowl from the new bowl tray and to his disgust, saw that there were still food stuck inside. The vanilla ice cream was empty so we asked the waitress for a new one. She said she'll check but the next thing we knew she was seated eating, probably at her break. So we decided to ask another waitress for the ice cream. She brought out two new buckets of vanilla ice cream, and we scooped ourselves some. The chocolate ice cream was almost empty, and we only ate the vanilla ice cream because it was a new bucket, lest we taste all the hands and fingers of all the previous people who eagerly scooped out their share of ice cream before us.
The washroom was very disgusting. It was unmaintained and dirty.
We were charged 15.99/person. We hurriedly left the place, leaving no tips, as the place was virtually isolated, with waitresses seeming to come out of the kitchen every ten years or so. I told the waitress about the dirty bowl that was only half heartedly cleaned and she just passed it off as probably a dirty bowl that a customer might have mistakenly put in the clean tray instead of the dirty one.
Yeah right.
How is this place still open?
Now,I knew going into this place, that I wasnt going to get Top quality food....
But what they had was absolute garbage.
The family of 6 screaming children was a great start.
The "Sushi" was gross, bland, and the sashimi was an unknown piece of fish.
Not one chow mein dish in the line, but lots of deep fried meatball things.
Terrible.I wouldnt recommend this to anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Me and my family were here a week ago, and everything was fine. The food was great, they had all kinds of sea food! The service was great as well, but they could use more waitresses. The only part the ruined it for us was the entrance, which is at the parking lot.(took us a while to figure out the entrance)
We have been several times .Usualy not bad..how ever last vist terrible,All most empty at dinner time.Thats a hint for a bad meal. crab tasted older than me.Chicken dry Soup OK Un sliced ham in a tight spot hard to carve. mussels not bad Ice cream melted .Most of the food you eat with your hands so why do the bring one napkin at a time.?Ndervous about trying the Japanese food Small seniors discount Uncle Willys here we come
Is this place still open? I didn't know there were any AYCE places left?
I went here quite a few years ago, because all of the AYCE places in Vancouver seemed to have shut down.
Food: Greasy and cheap. I didn't expect quality, nor did I get it. Some was good, some was not.. When I went, I was not at all picky about what I ate, so I didn't mind. Now? I couldn't see myself enjoying it nearly as much.
Service: You serve yourself, so there is no service.
Value: A great value, simply because you can eat enough to last a week for a low price. That said, the price you pay after (sore stomach, etc) is steep
Ambiance: I remember ice cream buckets near the front door, dirty floors, and a rather poor atmosphere. Obviously, people are there to stuff their faces, and not much else. Still, they could have done a better job on making the place seem a bit more sanitary.
