Large bubble tea cafe with a vast menu including drinks, snacks, full meals and desserts. Sit in or grab and go. Opens until 1am from Sundays to Thursdays and 2am Fridays and Saturdays.
I haven’t been here for a long while. Since I was in the area, I suggested going here for bubble tea. Bad idea. When we arrived, we were seated immediately and given the menu. However, it took 25 minutes to flag a server down to take our orders. There were at least four people working on the floor/walking around so we didn’t understand why it was so hard to just place an order. We were waving down the servers who were passing by our table multiple times and they gave us blank stares, continued walking past our table while ignoring us or acknowledged us and never returned when they were just standing around walking in circles/the occasional chat amongst themselves. If they were actually super busy bringing drinks/food to the customers, it would have been a bit more reasonable and understanding. Finally, one server who was standing near the cash register told this other server to come by our table and we finally got our orders down: one strawberry mango slush, one lychee calpico slush and beef noodle soup. The drinks came by fairly quickly 5 minutes after our orders, but the noodle soup took another 30 minutes after we were almost done with our drinks. I started watching other tables near ours and two tables down the people were served faster than us! At least they got their orders in less than the time it took us. Noodles were not good. It deserves two stars. You are better off going to Taiwanese noodle restaurants that actually specialize in this. Soup was very bland and greasy with one piece of bac choy and a few slices of beef. The drinks are the only items you should order here. Average priced for the noodles while bubble teas costs a bit more compared to other places. Ambiance is nice with a modern feel and caters mostly to the young Asian crowd. I had to apologize to the people I dragged with me to this place because I felt that bad putting people through this service. If you come here, just order bubble tea and be prepared to wait. We got up to pay at the cash register as we didn’t want a repeat of another 25 minutes to get the bill!
This is a relaxing place on Kingsway to grab some bubble tea or snacks. The ambiance made me feel as if I were in a Korean drama! The service isn't that great but it's adequate.
I had the mango slush bubble tea, and it was really blended well. The prices are a bit higher, but if you sit-in it's worth it.
Recommended. I didn't try the food, but other patron's were ordering stuff and it looked good. Also, note that this location doesn't open as late as the other locations so phone ahead.
It was 1am and a few of us were driving around looking for some late night bubble tea. We totally fluked out on finding this place and quickly ran in thinking we had little time to spare. We quickly ordered a tangerine calpico slush and a lychee capico slush. Wow, what amazing flavour. The calpico (a yogurt-type flavoured drink) mixed with the fruit flavour works really well, with a vanilla undertone that simmers at the back of your tongue. Again, I found it disappointing that they do not use lychee chunks in the slush. However. both drinks were blended nice and frothy, arguably the best blended consistency for a bubble tea drink I've had. Prices are on the steep end, at $4.45 for the slushes, add $0.50 for pearls and up to $1.25 for caramel pudding or aloe vera. We balked on the addons as we weren't thrilled at paying $6 for a bubble tea drink. The quality is there but you definitely pay for it, and yes, I know I'm only talking about cents here.
I was going to give it a solid 3 rating when we made our order. We were immediately greeted with friendly smiles when we walked in and were quickly tended to with our orders. But after waiting 10-12 minutes, and then learning that they forgot our order altogether that good first impression was consequently short lived.
Stylish and clean, with the entire staff all perked up, it makes for a great sit in experience, if this is your thing.
Great bubble tea, but pricey with add ons, with a side of spotty service.
Came here for the second time. I have a problem with this place, I'm torn about coming here for good bubbletea, but the people who work here makes me not want to go. Both times I went, there was just utterly terrible service.. and most of the servers don't understand half of what you're saying, and they screw up your orders too. And some of the girls dress.. inappropriately for work.
There's a limit of 2 hour seating. The drinks and food take a long time to arrive. And last time my bf's friend ordered his drink, they messed it up as a to go order, and asked all his friends to leave because you cannot drink a to go drink in the store. Wtf?! They messed up my friend's order of chicken with noodles, and took forever for the soya pudding with pearls.. which tasted so bland.
Why did I give them only a 3 for food? They're drinks are great, definitely above your normal Bubble World or Little Tea House, but the actual food isn't that great.
The atmosphere of the place is very cool, nice vibe. Really like it. Comfy chairs and stuff, clean, modern. Good hangout place with friends. Too bad there's a time limit.
I probably won't be back anytime soon, especially since I heard that Chill is better. We'll see.
I come here once in awhile since i live just a couple blocks away. The renos have totally changed the look of the place for the better. It used to be quite ghetto inside but now it's sleek and modern.
The drinks at Estea are pretty average. One time i had pearls in my drink and some of the pearls were undercooked and hard. The last time I was there, I had a green tea (matcha) latte. It was tasteless and I definitely wouldn't recommend it. I guess I should've clued in when I watched the girl making my drink take a little taste from her mixing spoon and make a very unsure face.
The main point of my review is to warn people not to order desserts here. They're even more of a rip off than the bbteas. I think all of the desserts cost $3.75 but the last time we were there they only had 2 out of the 6 or 7 options. We ordered the Snow White, which was supposed to be a strawberry dessert, and a cheesecake. When the two desserts arrived, our reactions were all the same "huh?". The Snow White dessert was nothing like the description on the menu and both desserts were miniscule. We sent back the Snow White and wanted to send back the cheesecake too but decided to keep the twoonie sized cake. Totally not worth it.
Food: is alright I would come again for the food and bubble tea. But I would not.
Service : service there is terrible and the girls there are dressed inappropriate. My experience there is awful. I went there to order to go foods they didn't even assist me and my husband when we walked in, we waited at the door for 10 minutes, order my food from a guy and then he ran off somewhere and I wanted to pay and one of the girl server ask what do u want and I said I want to pay. She asked me did u order ? I said of course I did I order right in front of u with the other guy. She was holding the receipt in her hand and she was like oh I got it here. Then I paid and I sat down with my husband and we waited for 20 mins and I went up and asked when is my order done and the server said in 5 mins and it wasn't 5 mins. During that two white guys came in and was seated and no one paid attention on them for half an hour so they left. Server talk and text and slack off, especially they don't understand half the things customer say if their not Chinese. Going back to my story about my order, I had wait over 35 mins and my husband and I tried calling them while we're in the restaurant to see if they would take our order on the phone and one of the girl picked up and said " call back in 10 mins, we're busy" wow very unprofessional. If I had to wait for another 5 mins I would just ask for my money back. But finally I stood up and ask for my order and it came out just in time before I want my money back. Sorry for my long story but I have to explain that they have horrible customer service.
I really like the BB tea here, but please don't order the food! I ordered the Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle Soup, and the next morning I felt sick. I swear my soup was laced with tons and tons of MSG. If you google symptons of MSG poisoning, I had every single thing on the checklist! I'm Asian myself and I've ate Chinese food all my life, but never had I experienced this before! There were young teenagers cooking the food in the kitchen, so you can just imagine the experience....just add MSG to make everything taste better!
The service is really bad too! Good luck on getting the bill! There were at least 7 servers for a restaurant that sat less than 100, how can they give such slow service? I've worked in restaurants before, I'm just assuming they are plain lazy! And who let's their service staff wear UGGS and short skirts to work?! Seriously!
The bathroom is also cheaply decorated...no door handle for the ladies entrance washroom, you just push it? The inside door handle was a handle that is meant for the handicapp "handle" bars you find in a handicapp stall.
I would go somewhere else!
The food was okay. The bubble teas were delicious. Ambiance was nice.
But I recommend you to go to other bubble tea places because the service here was horrible. Servers were not professional, quick, or helpful. They did not even apologize when they messed up orders. And my friends and I have been refused to be served because one of us was too full and did not want to order a bubble tea. Oh, and it took forever for us to actually get our food.
Had quite a few repeated bad experiences here. The food quality is something to watch out for. I ordered the chicken on rice here and they gave me 4 tiny pieces of chicken and a bowl of rice with a small amount of vegetables on the side. If I ordered the chicken seperately with a bowl of rice on the side I would have gotten about 4 times the amount of chicken plus a large bowl of rice for less than a dollar more. So I was kind of unhappy with the dish and my friend explained to them that I wanted to change my order. They did in fact take the dish back and gave me a bowl of rice and chicken on the side, however, the rice came out burnt and crispy, and the chicken uncooked, making the meal quite disgusting. Not only did they give me terrible food, they took nearly an hour and a half to make 4 cups of bubble tea with pearls. The first cup came out after about an hour of waiting and it was supposed to be watermelon slush with pearls. They brought the water but clearly forgot the melon. The most watery and flavourless bubbletea I have ever tried in my life. As if this wasn't bad enough, some of the coworkers of the employees who just ended their shift decided it would be a good idea to stand around and chat with the other employees, who were, at the time, being bombarded with customer complaints and orders, for about an hour.
This was not the first time that this has happened. I'm sure there are many who have not written reviews here that agree that the service at this location clearly needs work. Wait times at most bubble tea restaurants, during their busiest hours, are usually less than 20 minutes. This location takes about 20-30 minutes to make a cup of bubble tea during their least busiest hours.
The place looks nice and has a great atmostphere, but the service and food quality is another story.
