please refer to the swiss chalet for the 1st time

upon arrival we were greated promptly, the lady said for 2 but we siad we would like take out and asked what we would like to order, we asked to see the menu and she said sorry.
after ordering/getting home, we realized the portion sizes were really small for the price we paid, compared to other places we been to.
but we said whatever and started eating. the food was really SALTY, just like swiss chalet, everyone agreed too. i had a lot of salty food but that calamari was really salty as well as the rice.

Living near this restaurant and smelling it's fumes is not quite a turn on. Wish their dumpster odour was not so awful.
Their menu is typically Greek and not exotic by any means.Deep fry is not exactly healthy for todays consumer.
I found the previous owner offered entertainement and [in my humble opinion] better quality/tasting food.
Groups are kept waiting in the front area, and there seems to be a lack of communication and good management skills amongst staff in table delivery of meals in a timely fashion.

A group of us went out to cristos the other nite, we use to go quite often but have moved. Once upon arrival we were very warmly welcomed by the new owner. It was a busy nite but he found us a table right away. I was very impressed with all that we ordered everything tasted fresher then before. We ordered appy's and dinners everthing was very tasty. Its the best Greek food I've had for a long time. The staff was very friendly and we felt very relaxed we had a wonderful evening . So I would have to say the new owners are doing something right, we will make sure we'll be back again really soon.

My husband and I had guests in town and was looking for greek cusine, as our quests were on there way to greece for a vacation. So we had heard cristos had changed ownership and the food was the best in town,so we thought we'd give it a try. Well upon arrival the restaurant is very cute and cozy and the staff were right there to greet us and make us feel very comfortable right from the time we walked in the door. We started out with appy's and everthing was so tasty and fresh they knew what they were doing as in the food because all our appy's were not to salty as some greek restaurnats overdue the salt. Everone was very impressed with everything we ate. We all had different entres and everthing was delicious I had the roast lamb and it was the best lamb i have ever tasted, my wife had spinach pie and she was very pleased. It seems the new owners take pride in the cooking and service. We were very pleased it was nice to go to a family owned restaurant were you felt welcomed and great food. The server even taught us a few greek words so our friends could speak a few words on their trip. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody we had a great night and the food was the best greek food I,ve tasted for a long time...

My friends and I were originally going to go to Anton's to celebrate my friend's birthday party, but our plans changed to Cristos when we were told that we'd have to wait for another 2 hours.

Service: When we first walked in, the waitress eyed us up and down as if we were going to be a hassle. She told us that we'd only have 1 hour to eat, so we decided to go somewhere else instead. When she realized that we were about to leave, she welcomed us in. I found this attitude to be quite peculiar. After that, service was better because they took in our birthday cake and came back to check up on water refills.

Ambience: To be honest, it is slightly on the dim side, but then again, I've neve been to a Greek restaurant before, so that might be the standard ambience. The rest of the restaurant (i.e. walls, decor) looked pretty good though!

Food: I shared a Lamb, Beef and Chicken Souvlaki with my friend thinking that the dish would be very big (as my other friend had said this before). Unfortunately, the portions came short of my expectations. The rice tasted like minute rice; the souvlaki was dry; and the salad had way too much cheese.

Value: Considering that the my souvlaki was not that big of a dish, I really don't think that my dish amounted to the $16 (shared with my friend) that I had to pay. Moreover, the waitress informed us shortly afterwards that we would have to pay a 15% gratuity bill...

Overall, I don't think that I will be going back there any time soon.

ok place to go

Went last night with a couple of others. Lots of plants. Bench seats look old and could use a cleaning. Service was great. Had the roast lamb which was pretty good. The rice was so-so, and the potato was okay as well.

It's an okay place to go if you're in the neighbourhood but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

The best place I've tried so far is still My Greek on Brunette & Lougheed.

I live in the area and have been going to Cristos for many years. The current owners have owned it for at least 6 years now and since they took it over the food has always been awesome. We have always been treated very well and the service has been excellent. If you want to dine there, it is best to make reservations as they are very popular and are most of the time full. For those who love Greek food, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Like the previous reviewers, we too live in the neighbourhood and have been going to Cristo's for years. Food and service are definitely better than at the nearby Sfinaki Taverna. Two of our favourites is the prawns/scallops skewers, and the calamari - always hot, tasty, and good portions. The staff are super friendly and efficient, and the good, consistent food keeps us returning.

Food - Romance and Dancing - You cannot say no
By AnitGreek of Surrey , B.C. (1 Review)

Last Saturday my friend and I decided to go out for Greek food. I suggested Cristos in Burnaby because I had been in the restaurant before and the food was great. My friend came along mostly because I told her that there was going to be belly dancing - and she wanted to see the show.

We arrived at 7 PM and we were treated with a smile at the door. The man wearing a costume from the Greek islands (as he told us) informed us that we were just in time for the show. We started with calamari (to die for) and as the food arrived so did the belly dancer. A very pretty Brazilian girl named Carla entertained us. Everyone was clapping and from time to time all the customers were screaming "OPA" and laughing as the staff kept breaking plates down by the bar.

My friend ordered the lamb shoulder and I ordered the special which was "lamb cigar" or as we were told a meat pie, made with fylo and lamb (rolled like a fat cigar); and all the spices. It was so tasty... from another world for $15 - with rice, potatoes, pitta, Greek salad and satziki. I never tasted such food before and we were told that this food is not made in any other Greek restaurant. Apparently, the owner (Leo - the man with the costume) from time to time goes back to his childhood memories and he creates all types of different Greek dishes. He also prepares and makes Greek coffee for the customers and then he reads the coffee cup - not that we tried that!

Of course, the night was not over. Down below, there was a BD party. The staff sang happy BD and they took the older woman by the bar to break a plate. She just did not want to do it. We heard her saying that she never broke a plate in her life. But eventually she agreed to do it for the "Good Luck!". And then the owner took 2 young customers and danced a greek song with them around the tables. That was fun to watch. Truly cultural!

As we were commenting on the food and the ambience of the restaurant - real wonderful plants hanging from the roof and big flowery plants adding to the floor decor - suddenly the lights dimmed to a minimal and the Greek music changed to a soft loving music by Julio Inglessias. Only the candles by the cables were on. We started laughing because we could not believe the coincidence. Romance in a Greek restaurant. Now, the owner was circulating around the tables, wearing a white lab coat pretending to be a scientist, offering every single customer "test tube babies"; actual test tubes having a small amount of alcohol. That's Greek hospitality he said to give something back to the customers. Wow... that little drink was delicious... Lemoncello and Merlot wine and Cinzano and whatever else.

Apparently the owner dances all the time and he treats all customers like they are his friends. And the server told us that sometimes they sevre small jello shooters for free! I don't know if there is another restaurant that does this but I know that... my friend and I spent a night in Greece. What a night! What a delight!
