New owner, new cooks, higher prices & less quality
By samel of Burnaby (20 Reviews)

Starting April 2012, a new owner took over with new cooks. The menu looks similar except the prices. If you enjoyed the crunchy chow mein before, you'll be disappointed. The new cook doesn't make them crunchy anymore and cooks them with way too much oil. It had been good for several years but it's time for a new lunch place.

Pretty good--in a city without much Szechuan

If you're craving Szechuan you can do worse than to come here. It's not mind-blowing, and the food was not as spicy as it should be. However, there is some chili oil on the table should you need it. Service was actually pretty good when we were there.

Decent Szechuan restaurant!
By rp07 of Burnaby (27 Reviews)

It was the best Szechuan restaurant around the Capitol Hill area at one time. The food had "zing" and blasted the customer with taste, there was "clinging" and "clanging" in the kitchen, and the cooks looked like they enjoyed making the food.

Those days seem to have been somewhat fazed out... Sure, if you're a working person and you're pressed for time, it's still decent, though there aren't enough "zings" in the meal anymore, and the Szechuan spice is long gone, as is the original owner.

Time and improvement may tell a better story. The new staff have to "smile" a bit more.

  • Doug S. : I arrived for lunch which was interesting. It seems they have about 30 choices for $6.35 and incl 3 types of soup. Had the Spicy Garlic Pork w/ noodles and hot and sour soup. Another visit f'shur.
