Good hangout if you like the deafening ambiance

The gf and I met up with a friend here. Initially wanting takeout, we decided to stay in.

Nice styling without the in your face colours, but the small is smaller than it appears. Surrouding tables are tight but because of the extra loud ambiance, you'll likely not be able to hear your neighbours. Talking loudly is a pre-requisite.

Our tab consisted of ginger tea, a milk tea and a slush. The ginger tea was well received while the milk tea and lychee slush lacked a strong presence. The slush was blended nicely and it seems the sizes are a little bigger than the norm, perhaps to coincide with the slightly higher prices.

Service is what you expect at a place like this so it's hard to complain if they drop the ball when they do. We didn't have any problems, however.

They seem to be open very late as we didn't leave until about 3am, so it bodes well for night owls like us, but it's not the drinks that would bring us back here.

OK but nothing special

My friends and I were unsure of what to eat late night Friday and passed by Bubble World. Since we're very familiar with their Surrey location, we thought it would be a safe choice....

Food: Was ok and as expected but nothing special or inventive. Maybe I come here too much but it would be nice if they had a changing feature menu =) The quality was not the greatest but being one of the few places open at 1am, it got the job done. Bubble tea was definitely not as good as some other places (in Richmond) but again, being in Burnaby, not bad at all.

Service was minimal although we didn't really need anything from the server. They gave us a menu and took our order promptly.

Ambiance: Your average bubble tea cafe, perhaps a little worn out because they're so busy. The only issue I had was that it was fairly stuffy when we walked in, and there was a heavy food odor which wasn't really pleasant....Might be time for a face lift and a vent?

Solid bubble tea house with some ok food

Came here a few times, and never disappointed with their bubble tea drinks. Its not the best I have ever had, but it certainly is not bad. I have had a few deep fried snacks here, and they were pretty good actually for what it was.

It is always very crowded when i go here, but had no problem getting service. Ambiance is decent and clean, but nothing special.

Mrs. C and I were in the chasiucruiser, and we needed to get some BBT to share. I spotted BWR and in we scampered. The decor was very cool, but the place was a little bit dirty and crowded. After a short wait, I ordered a strawberry milk tea. For $2.89 it was a good deal. The server was quite harried, but she still managed a smile. So points for service.

Unfortunately, there is no place to wait while takeout orders are being prepared. After a few minutes standing amongst the throng, we got our BBT. It was light and frothy, and tasted great.

Will I be back? I will if I am in the 'hood.

good bubble tea......but service sucks!

I live right around the corner from this place and I always order takeout. The food is okay but the bubble teas are pretty good. I usually order the sour mango with pearls, with tax it comes out to just over 5 bucks, which I think is a bit much for a glorified slurpee. But it is good so whatever. The place is quite small and fairly clean. The service sucks! The girls never smile, say hello or anything, not friendly in the least. Like one reviewer said "what do you want" attitude. Overall if you don't mind spending 5 bucks on a bubble tea with no service I guess it's okay then.

Amazing restaurant if you want to cool off in the summer!

This restaurant offers great slushies and milk tea if you want to cool off in a hot, summer day.

I always order the Chinese egg pancake, the fish steak on rice, and 2 milk teas. I order the strawberry milk tea for me and the mango milk tea for my sister.

The service is pretty nice. There are lots of nice teenage girls. One person even notified me that my food is done. The people are nice.

Their restaurant is a little too hot but the decorations are cool (they even have walls with little holes) and they're cute. They even have a fireplace.

They even have a sofa above some steps which are cool. This is a very perfect restaurant for summer.

it is one of the most famous bbt restaurant in vancouver. it has a long history in bbt business. but since it got famous (busy) service n food quality decline. it is still pack because of its fame. there is always line-up. price is not very high when u r not counting the time u spent on waiting. so if u have a lot of time to kill,it is a good place to kill time in line. ambiance is not bad only a little too dark.

First of all, service is sooo poor. The waitresses are rude and deaf, & they give attitude. Their bubble tea is not as good, inconsistent, 3/4 of ice in a cold drink. Price is more expensive than other bubble world locations. I smell from head to toe for going in there for pick up, which is least than 2 mins.

I m a regular at Bubble world especially one on Kingsway and Joyce. Very disappointed at Bubble World Mgmt!!!

I rather drive further to BB World around Joyce cos I don't want to deal with the waitresses.

Agree with previous review about the deafening ambiance

Food: We usually order some snacks such as crispy chicken nuggets (standard), fish cakes (it's alright), beef pancake wrap (my favourite), and others. We also get some set rice meals with side dishes (depends), and beef noodles (always good). The bubble teas are usually pretty good; not too sweet, and the pearls/coconut jellies are fresh.

Service: They are always really busy. The wait was about 15 to 20 mins. But I would say they are pretty efficient for the number of staff they have on.

Value: Prices are all pretty standard. The snacks are around $5 to $7, meal sets are around $9, and the noodles are $7-$8.

Ambiance: All the walls are different. I found that very interesting and creative. It's actually pretty nice in there and the seats are comfortable but it would better if there's a MUTE button. Why does it have to be soooo loud? The music is literally blasting!! They should turn down the music a couple of notches so their customers can actually have a decent conversation or at least not scream at the servers when they want to place an order.

Yummy drinks

Discovered this place by accident. But i'm glad I did.

Food: Can't speak much for the food as they had all meat varieties and nothing vegetarian. So we decided to order yam fries. They were ok. Until we realized they'd probably fried them in the same oil as they did with the meats.

However their bubble teas are great. There are a whole lot of choices to pick from. I love their their strawberry milk tea with pearls and also the coconut milk tea. My boyfriend is very fond of the pinacolada drink. I like their serving glasses. They are big and just really cool.

Service: not great but not bad either

Ambiance: very pretty for a such a small place.

great slush

Submitted Friday, October 16, 2009 - 12:13am [Dine in]

i have no clue what the person below is talking about, i went with 9 friends today to bbw and we all ordered slushes and they were great. I had a milky pineapple slush with mango stars which was the best thing ive ever had, i didnt get sick of it and it was very pretty to look at.
i itried my friends green apple with rainbow jelly which looks full of life and also my friends red bean slush with pearl, both of which very good slushes. Bubble tea here is on the highest end with most milk and teas at 3.45 with slushes at 3.95 and around 60 cents to add pearls, straberry jelly, grass jelly, mango jelly, coconut jelly, rainbow jelly or anything else.

service was okay. not much done but not much really needed

~i had food here on another occasion. i had deep fried pork w/ noodles. noodles were okay, not that gud of a food but the pork chop was delicious but you come here for the bubble tea and not the food

Really bad fruit slushies
By ILuv2Eat of Burnaby (2 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, July 5, 2009 - 4:18am [Dine in]

I have been to this place a couple of times since it is at a convenient location for me and my friends.

The food was ok, not good but decent. However, this is the place where for the first time I did not finish my bubble tea. The strawberry banana slush I had was horribly made.! There was almost no banana taste to it and it feels like it's mostly just strawberry syrup blended with ice. Later I tried my friend's strawberry slush and it tasted similar, although a little better than mine. This experience had been so bad I have not been back since. Would not recommend this place if you are craving for some bubble tea, especially their fruit slushs.

Portion is so small, and are you sure it's $10 and less?

The portion is so so small nowaday. I orderd currey beef, the beef portion is not even 3 once and it's $8.00. Couple of potatoes and carrot is not really filling.
Bubble tea is not bad, but it's just full of sugar water.
The tea has no flavor wat so ever, I don't understand why people want to drink it. I feel disappointed because my friend told me that i really have to try the bubble tea here... it's awful

It's really expensive to eat here... i need to order a second meal to fill my tummy... god!

Food was good, but pricey if you add a drink

I had the house sandwich. It was thick and had some tasty fried chicken in it, but sort of fell apart as you were trying to eat it. Maybe if you take bigger bites it'll be ok. I also had a mango drink with coconut bits. It was good, your standard bubble tea stuff.

My date had a lamb stir fry. It was very good and saucy.

Selection was ok, value is good if you don't buy a drink.

I often go to bubble world when I'm with a large group of friends, and they're accomodating even around how busy they are. Because I usually go in with a big group, I always have fun there, however, the bubble tea is a little overpriced, in my opinion, and it's nothing special. It's good, for sure, but it's not amazing, and so I always feel a little ripped off. I do enjoy their food there, though, as it beats the general fast food in the area, and is priced well.

I will return, but I wouldn't go alone, for sure; the staff can be very rude to their Caucasian customers.

Good Prices

Submitted Friday, January 9, 2009 - 11:30pm [Dine in]

My Friend suggested we go to this place because we were all pretty much broke and she said that this place had good prices. Once we walked in it was very busy inside but they were able to seat us in about 5 minutes. I was the only non-asian sitting in the restaurant I could feel a little tension. Once I saw the menu I realized my friend was right, the prices were very good. We sat there for about ten minutes and thats when my friend got her order. I had to sit there for another 20 minutes while my friend ate because I wasn't getting my order. The servers kept staring at me as if they wanted to say something but couldn't. Finally I got my order and saw that there was a lot of food on the plate, and it was well worth the price. The bad news is that once i got my order my friend had already finished her order. (Yeah, thats how long they took) I was slightly fed up and decided to get the order to go. I ordered fish fillet with noodle soup. The noodle soup was bland and tasted like nothing but the fish fillet was good. It had this lemony hint to the taste that I liked. The woman would not listen to me and after I had asked her "Can I get this to go?" she nodded then pretended like I had never asked and went off to other business. I had to ask her a second time. It seemed as if she were angry with me.

Overall, I probably won't be visiting the restaurant again, but it does have cheap prices and good proportions of food. The inside of the restaurant is also very invited and it has a modern feel to it. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to non-asians as you may feel that you are being disrespected when trying to get some service.

I am a regular customer at this restaurant. I go there every week. Everytime I go I get great service and the girls do smile at you. I always get lychee or starberry slush. I find it really refreshing. This place is really busy but most of the customers are really young. anywhere from 17 to 24. A great hang out spot, The price are really cheap and the food is not bad. I always get pork chop sandwich or meat sauce noodle. Some of the waitress are really cute and friendly. the girls work upfront and the guys work at the back. you could get great meal fo $10 to $15

Take-out instead of eat-in

Good bubble tea and ok food. Drinks are overpriced though (over 4 bucks if you want pearls). Its more for people who want drink but also want food. Not the other way around. Service is not friendly (more like what do you want.. and here's your food). All employees are Chinese and they don't necessary treat you nicer if you are white. I just go there for take-out bubble tea w/o the pearls.
