Boston Pizza offers a casual dining atmosphere with over 100 menu items including a selection of pizzas, pastas and a wide variety of appetizers, meal-sized salads, entrees and desserts. The restaurant also has plenty of big screen TVs to catch the big game.
Came here Saturday night to calm some late night munchies with a friend and my girlfriend.
The in atmosphere was awkwardly quiet - the vibe's a little tame at this location. Seated quickly our server quickly tended to us for drinks. We scampered through the menu and picked out the tried and true items: 2 pizzas (Boston Royal and Pulled Pork), Yam Fries and the Nacho platter with with beef and guacamole on the side.
Our fries came first and we mostly finished them before our nachos and pizza came. The fries were nicely cooked, with a crisp, golden exterior. The Chipotle mayo had strong bbq flavour - Old Dutch potato BBQ chips! The nachos were a healthy portion, with much more generous toppings compared to other locations. The pizza choices were decent. The Pulled Pork only had a few chunks of pork, localized on certain slices. The underside of the crust was a touch soggy, probably the bbq sauce soaking through. Too sweet for my palette. The Royal had nice toppings although they did use those baby shrimps and considering the prices on those pizzas I would've preferred regular shrimps chopped.
Service was spotty. Our server was friendly but she didn't check up on us during our meal. It took visits to our booth to bring our items to refill our drinks at the same time. It was nearly the end of our meal before my drink was refilled. We ended up having another server who came from the other side of the restaurant to clear our empty plates - her demeanor suggested her section was barren.
The loud background music was a bit annoying at first but eventually got use to it. I did notice one large table group across from us against the wall distracting me while I was eating - they were basically dining in the dark.
All things considered, this experience was fairly indicative of most other BPs, with the decent to good food and the impersonal, lackluster service.
We dined here after a ball game.
BP's are a franchise, but I must say the steady decline of the BP quality and service over the years makes me ask why I return and then kick myself for returning.
The Server was nice and friendly, but making us wait 5+ minutes to serve our drinks, then take our order, then finally getting up to leave and request our bill was painful. Chicken wings and pan pizza took almost 20 minutes and the restaurant was empty.
Maybe the chef was busy out back having their smoke break? I've seen it before.
The food has been mediocre for years, but the big TV's is a draw to watch the hockey, etc...
REMIND me not to go back to BP for a while. Please.
We were drawn to this restaurant because of their pasta specials on Tuesday. We ordered one of them and it was actually pretty good. The other dish we ordered was the Jambalaya fettuccini and it was tasty with all the right ingredients. Overall I'd say it had good value for its money. Overall a solid experience.
Now we use to come to this location every weekend after group activites.... the food was good and the service was great. Now? Not so much. Went today for a birthday lunch and it was way downhill from what it was. The only efficient part of our meal was the first beverage. They came out efficently as people arrived. And that was it. We were rushed into placing food orders when we just wanted to visit for a few minutes first and then we waited....... how is it possible for pastas and pizzas to arrive at the table well before salads? huh? I had my old favourite pasta with chicken and mushroom. They totally skimped on the sauce and the mushooms and chicken. A ham and cheese stromboli didn't taste any better according to the other half. We had to ask 3 times for water! My beverage was never properly refilled (had rootbeer to start and ended with Pepsi. The other half went from lemonade to icetea). Dessert was offered as she walked away from the table at a rapid rate (did you want anything else?). Another friend had to ask twice for the dipping sauce for her toasted cheese bread.
Summary? Subquality food and poor service from the staff. It scored as decent only because of the company of good friends and fun conversation. Not my idea to go in the first place and will not go back if it's my choice.
3 of us visited this Boston Pizza on Lougheed last Saturday afternoon, it had been a long time since I had visited one of their restaurants but we were in the area and thought it would be a good bet to catch the Champions League Final on the TV and grab some lunch.
I got an ice tea, which tasted nothing like tea, more like sugar water, when I sent it back to the server she told me that that is just what its like... so I ordered something different. so there was either a problem with your machine, and no one could be bothered to fix it, or you have a bad product that needs to be replaced
While bringing our food one garlic toast pieces fell off the plate and onto the floor, the server ignored it, served the food and walked off, repeatedly passing the piece of toast on the floor, ignoring it. (the restaurant was not busy: 10- 15 customers).
My sister (already a piece of garlic toast down) had the tuscan pasta- a really tasteless watery sauce it was more like a pasta soup.
I had the lasagne: which was just pasta and thick melty cheese (like a pizza topping) & unfortunately lacking in ground beef or tomato. possibly 1/4 of the meat you would get in a mcdonalds cheee burger, and again a watery sauce, more like a pasta dish you would get out of a can from Chef Boyardee.
My fiance had a side salad with "house dressing", with her quesadillas, which was reported to be a balsamic but it tasted like steak sauce with oil - not nice at all.
Our lunch for 3, with three soft drink over $65 dollars, a bit shocking for food of such poor quality.
I can't see myself ever eating at a Boston Pizza again.
Boston Pizza is a fairly decent chain, with a varied selection of Pizzas and girly drinks. The food here is definitely not of the health food variety, but nobody who goes there is worrying about that anyway. I enjoy the lasanga, which is big and cheesy. The own downfall is that Boston Pizza is rather expensive for what is really fast food.
This location doesn't seem to be too busy, and the service was adequate.
Ever since "Mama Meata Penne" mysteriously disappeared off the regular menu, I had to settle for Jambalaya. Guess what? It's now available with the current 10 for $10 promo! Try it, it's amazing. There's enough sausages/meatballs with every bite. My partner had the Spicy Italian Penne. Just as yummy. Both came with a slice of garlic bread. Pop at $3/ea was a bit steep, but the unlimited refills made up for it.
Service was good although I suspect our server was new. She had the same spiel for every table.
Parking is always a challenge at this location as it's shared with Cactus next door.
Lastly, don't forget to earn Airmiles. 1mile/$13.
Me and my roommate ordered delivery. Worst service ever! We placed the order online and it said it was gonna take 1 hr and 45min. We both work in the restaurant service industry so we understood the wait. The restaurant had called about a hour later and told me that the food I ordered was ready but i guess they had phoned and no one answered ( I was by the phone the entire time) They brought the food back and not only was it FREEZING cold it was burnt and disgusting. The only good thing was the salad I ordered. I phoned back and complained to the manager Matt who had told me that he could give me a 5$ credit for the wings. I had told him that I work in the industry and this was terrible, not only was his attitude one for the books but he then told me that he could remake it but he would have to charge me for it and that it was my problem that my food was cold because they tried to call. After that I was so steaming mad that I said give me the credit then. I will be phoning back and speaking to the RL and complaining. I and my roommate will inform everyone at our jobs and friends not to eat there ever! I work at Joeys and under no circumstance do we ever treat customers like this, it takes allot for me to complain about food. DONT EVER EAT HERE!!
I have lived all over Canada, and Boston Pizza has been one of my favourite places to go out with friends for a casual dinner. I can honestly say this location is extremely comfortable and welcoming. The service is what really makes them stand out... I was at Boston Pizza in Coquitlam last week and I have never met a more unfriendly, rude hostess... When I came to Boston Pizza Brentwood today, the hostess greeted me and asked me how my day was and I instantly new I would be getting quality service.
The food here was exactly how it looked on the menu - delicious! and I even had food leftover to take home (Which rarely happens as I am a cow!!)
Overall, this restaurant completely embodies their slogan "we're here to make you happy"
I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of Boston Pizza. But for a quick bevvie and snack, or a treat for the kids, it's fine.
Tonight however, was an EPIC FAILURE.
Sons birthday, just want to have a quick bite, and go home. We went to our local BP on Grandview Hwy and Rupert, and they were PACKED. OK, the boy really wants bug's & cheese, soooo, off to the next nearest BP on Loughheed Hwy in Burnaby. (This is where the epic failure part starts).
Strangely enough, this BP is almost completely empty! (our first clue)
Server was VERY friendly, and attentive, no problems there. Boy gets his bug's & cheese, we order Nacho's with extra cheese.
Food shows up, boy's happy, but what's this: a half order of Nacho's?
Nacho's at the Grandview BP are TWICE this size, (and not soggy from who-knows-what).
Bottom line, whoever is Managing this location needs to find other work, OUT of the food service industry.
It's a complete disgrace to the Boston Pizza TradeMark, and no one should spend money at this particular location.
Lesson learned. There's a REASON for the line up at the Grandview BP, and that's where we'll go next time.
Like you I've been to Boston Pizza many times, and I have got enough! I've not had a dish there that was even so-so, everything is bland. The service is not what it used to be as recently as 2008, now the waitresses are not attractive and dressed in wide pants. Not exactly attractive entertainment. The drinks at least show variety and are tasty (my fave is the Red Lotus). The atmosphere is confused mix of family restaurant and sport bar nowadays. They are offering $10 specials if you care.
I needed a very late dinner, so opted for Boston Pizza, as it seems that almost every eatery rolls up the carpet in Burnaby after 11pm weeknights. The waitress I had was extremely personable, and gave me great service. The ribs that I ordered were great, but the garlic bread that was served was very dried out...the meal was not presented as well as it could have. If you are looking for a late night meal, I think it beats Knight and Day, Denny's or any of the other all nighter places, though.
I never ate here until about 2.5 years ago when I was forced to go with some clients. Being a real pizza affionado I would never order a pie here, so i went on the advice of my friend and ordered the burger.
It was absolutely excellent! real meat that tasted like meat! I went back a few more times and every time it was a fantastic burger.
then, the damn thing is off the menu as they were "changing suppliers" due to the quality of the meat ( official explanation).
when the burger returned, I returned to the restaurant and ordered one right away....it was definitely bigger, and it was definitely different, and it was definitely horrific. Probably the best example of size without taste that ive ever experienced... a huge step backward.
Ive tried other items but this place is for the real young-uns that have no concept of great food, but are lured there by clever advertizing and nuclear based pizza. nothing really good here that would make me come back.
Wish they'd bring the real meat burger back. it was good.
