A few co-workers and I went out for some authentic Korean stone BBQ. This place seemed to have that. We were seated in a cubicle like in a Japanese sushi joint . This place used to be one, so they saved the decorations. The big difference was the blue granite stone in the middle of the table which gives the restaurant its name. It is heated by gas, so you can play around with temperature, but it is probably a good idea to let the staff deal with that.

We had the usual confusing (and in some cases tasty) array of pickled items that you get in Korean restaurants, plus some cold noodles with chili that were reputed to be very good for health. The main course was strips of raw meat. I think the portions were quite generous but I agree with previous reviewers who reported the cost was not cheap. Since we had Koreans on hand, communication with the servers and the cooking of the meat was no problem. Without them, we would have been lost, but we also probably would have gone to the Keg.

I found the place to be clean and the servers attentive. We got to have indoor barbecue, and that was an experience in itself. Will I go back? Maybe, but now that the nice weather is here I will be barbecuing at home for the next few months.

Recommended for the adventurers among you.

Back in summer me and a few of my friends were exploring the "korea town" part of coquitlam...but then lunch time struck, and so we checked out some of the restaurants that we havent tried(we tried most nearby ones by then).
2 of us ordered a cold noodle(?) and the other got the bacon-y dish. We were served some cold water and then the waiter vanished to the kitchen.
Well first of all...the side dishes came aplenty, they were all a bit different in taste (loved the sweet potato thing!) then the noodles came. Oh, they gave us some hot sauce on the side just in case the noodle wasn't interesting enough(didn't put any). I wimped out and asked for a fork (their chopsticks were not wooden), and the noodles were pretty tasty and a refreshing dish too, since the heat was really bad outside.
Ah, then the meat dish came in, wow they had a literal stone grill right in the middle of the table haha!! Since the meat was taking a bit for it to cook, we shared the noodles and had the small side dishes. I was afraid some stray hot oil bubbles would explode(like bacons usually do), but in the end we ate them with no injuries. Hooray! I tried a few pieces, it was chewier than bacon but it was far less salty.
This place was a treat! In part it was because I ordered something to fight the darn summer heat, but that's what restaurants are for, right? To satisfy everyone haha! The poor friend who ordered hot food had a nice 3-4 cups of cold water before we left. The restaurant got a bit loud-ish after a few customers ordered grilled meat because we could hear all the grills going off, which ended up in everybody upping their voices basically. I guess it's a sort of a charm in itself, kinda like watching a baseball game.
One thing I noticed was there weren't much choices for vegetarians. But, the side dishes were practically all vegetable-based. Was kinda funny.
Enjoyed the noodles...will definitely visit again(if time allows)!

went on a Tuesday night. we were the only persons there from start till finish. waiters spoke very little English. ran out of beef and 2 brands of Korean liquor so we had to order something else. portions were amazingly small. skimpy on the number of appetizer dishes that u usually get at a Korean restaurant.

don't waste ur money here

It hasnt been opened for long. But I've probably went to this place 5 times last month..and today too but it was closed (Wednesday is a holiday for them)

I love the fact that it's actually "stone grilled" (and much much more cheap than the actual Stone Grill place at Yaletown).

The food doesnt burn off as quickly as..well other BBQ restaurants with the traditional on Gas Grill.

The meat is very tender..side dishes varies.. but Bi Bim Naeng Myun is NOT GOOD. It's just hot with no other taste to it but MooL Naeng Myun is the best I've ever tasted in Vancouver.

The place is clean and neat. Also the lady who works there most of the time is very nice and comes back to check up on us.

First of all, my previous post (posted on Jul 10) was got deleted, and I remembered that I did not put down any comment in the most negative way. Anyway, I went there again and it was still $15 for 15 pieces of 2cmx3cm beef, and $15 for 3 pieces of bacons. You can probably imagine how small they are in a big dish. Side dishes are small in amount, compare with any other Korean restaurant you can find in Burnaby. Although the taste was really good, I paid $30 and I had to go somewhere else to fill up my stomach. That is why I give "2" for Food and Overall Ratings. Service was OK. So, "3" is fair. Environment is just the same as any other Korean BBQ restaurant, so I cannot find a reason to give point higher that "3".

It is not only me feel this way, see the other comment from Nov 6.
I will now keep checking this as I am really sharing my point here, not making up story.

Great food, great price, and excellent service! The restaurant just recently opened like 2 months ago. And already I have been there 3 times! I highly recommend it.

This is an excellent BBQ restaurant. The meat is very fresh and the choicest cuts. The side dishes taste great as well. Once you sit down, you'll notice the BBQ grill is a marble stone.

In the middle of the table, there is a large rectangular marble slab, it is almost dark blue or green in color, and is heated by a gas stove underneath.

If you manage the temperature properly, you'll find the meat does not stick as much to the stone as the other conventional cooking surfaces. Another bonus is your clothes will have less of the aromatic BBQ smell afterwards. :) There is also a complimentary apron you can wear when cooking.

We stumbled onto this restaurant after reading a review in the dinehere site. Its located on North Road in the old Ichibankan Japanese restaurnt. Two of us went on a tuesday night and it happened to be all you can eat korean bbq grill. It was pretty decent for under $20.00, I think normally you order off the menu and the grill dinner ranges from $16 to $20.

They limit you to 1.5 hours but that is more than enough time to eat.

Service was prompt and they come back to check on you, check on the grill, cut the meat up and lay it on the grill. English is a bit limited but the service was good with a lot of nodding and pointing.

Would like to try out the other korean dishes on the menu.
