My gf had raved about this franchise so when dinner hour set in and pizza was the preferred choice, I wanted to see what the fuss was about.
Though strictly a takeout joint, there are a couple of chairs and tv strewn about if you decide to wait it out in a mostly dirty waiting area.
The Bella chicken appeared to be the favourite however the toppings were really heaped on for our beefeater and vegetarian gourmet pies. The beefeater was an interesting choice as it came with sliced beef (akin to the beef you'd see in a donair) rather than ground beef. We also tried our hand with the garlic fingers, basically a jazzed up form of breadsticks in pizza form. Their pies look small (their large looks like a typical medium) but really fill you up. Also, they are very easy on the tomato sauce which gives it a bit of that authentic Italian feel. Crust lean on the thicker side which I liked, but the dough lacked the quality of an excellent crust. It was a combination of being slightly underdone and lacked the little bit of grease needed to make it taste "right".
Friendly and helpful people run this small enterprise so extra marks for their disposition.
I would definitely try it again though it does seem a little overrated at this point, based on our trial meal. Maybe I'll be wowed the next time.
We ordered the Gourmet Vegetarian and it was delicious! Fresh chunks of tomatoes, whole leaves of spinach, thin slices of onions, artichokes, a sprinkling of feta and a nice thick layer of mozzarella to top it off. The owner/operator was especially helpful on the phone when I asked for directions to his place. 10% for pick-up orders too! The crust was just right, not greasy or burnt. Well worth the $16 for a medium Gourmet Vegetarian. Could have finished two of them, easily! As for ambiance, the place was a bit austere (but it's a pizza parlour), but the waiting area was comfortable (magazines were available) and more importantly, the kitchen looked clean, and well-prepped.
I order from Ed at Bella Pizza all the time. Most of my orders are for work and sometimes, I can't predict last minute pizza requirements. Ed is always there to please! He'll try to accommodate your needs as best he can. The pizza is great and the pizza dough ball in the middle is genius! No more toppings stuck to the top of the box! Their unique selection of pizza are what makes Bella Pizza what it is.
My parents were in town visiting and wanting pizza. We had never ordered from Bella pizza before, the prices seemed reasonable. Would be awesome if it was 2 for 1 though. We ordered 1 medium all-dressed pizza, a dozen wings and garlic bread. I was really pleased with the pizza, my only complaint is that I'm not a huge fan of tons of cheese. Some people like it, but I would prefer more toppings and less cheese. Other than that the crust was really good and the sauce was delicious. The wings were pretty good, nothing incredible. I would definitely order from here again!
I have been ordering pizza from this location for over 7 years. Last Friday night has got to be the worst pizza I have ever had. I also order the wings for the first time, again complete garbage. I will never again order anything from this buisness. Bella Pizza has lost a long time customer. Good luck with there future.
I ordered pizza one night from Bella Pizza because I've heard good things. I guess I got unlucky.
Thought the sauce on my pizza tasted strange, really weird herbal flavours. Don't understand the fuss about this place. Have had way better pizza from Panago, Roundhouse, Me And Ed's, Nat's New York, etc.
Will not re-order as the last pizza I ordered from there was weird tasting.
i sometimes order pizza here. their pizza source tastes great and the owner is quite friendly. the pizza they bake is always fresh and hot and ready to serve. their Basil and tomato pizza, baked with pure oliver oil, is the must-try. but i still think it's alittle bit overpriced. if their price can go lower i would definitely go there more often.
