We have ordered from the Beekaner many times now, so I figured it was worth a good review. This place is always open, quick with their food, and always delicious. Normal wait time is 30mins max on a normal day, weekend dinner time it can get up to 45mins. They don't have delivery option, but you can go sit down and eat inside. It's a small mom and pop shop with an extensive Indian sweets area. We have only ever grabbed it for take out. Their food prices can't be beat!! Typical price for a dish is $7-9. Samosa's are $0.50. Last night we ordered a huge take out, 8 different items, and our bill was only $58. Now that's a great price!! Every dish we've ever ordered Has been awesome except for their goat/lamb dishes. First time we ordered the lamb curry it had bones in it, and there was barely any meat. Next time I ordered it boneless, I was still disappointed. Very gamey tasting and just overall not very good. Every other dish though has been top notch and portions are WAY bigger than any other Indian food place in town.
Really good fish pakora! Other favorites include the mixed vegetable, which is just loaded with all the veggies. Butter chicken...hello...hard to go wrong here, but it's done perfectly and you get a beautiful portion size. Chana masala, chick pea dish...Way better than it sounds, SO yummy! My personal favorite: Eggplant Bharta! More like a dip for your garlic Naan bread, Omg to die for. This time we also tried the Mutter Paneer and it was excellent! They make a great Dal Tarka, just a simple and delicious lentil dish. Now if you're going to order rice, it's $4 an order. May as well get the RICE Pulao, which is done a bit fancier for the same cost. I usually throw the rice cooker on and instead it costs pennies and took up none of my time.
Well worth the visit. Repeat customers as long as we live in Abby!
It’s okay. Prices are not too bad except for an order of yam fries that were $7.00. Yikes for a pub that’s a bit steep. Ambiance is zilch. It’s upstairs from a fitness facility and they have a few tv’s on for sports fans. My husband had a chicken burger with soup and a side of the yam fries. His dinner was decent. I had fish and chips. The fish was cod and it was past its best before date. It definitely wasn’t fresh but I couldn’t be bothered sending it back and waiting for another entrée. The server was good. She checked on us and delivered out food in a reasonable amount of time. It’s unlikely that I would return $7.00 for yam fries and stale fish just don’t do that much for me.
If your looking for a welcoming authentic bar and grill, Lou's Grill is the place to go! The customer service is exceptionally good and made me feel very comfortable. The waitresses are quick and efficient, but also very informative about any questions I have. Every time I eat at Lou’s Grill , I always go home satisfied and happy! My personal favourite is the brunch special. It is the best breakfast in town and its cheap and you get a massive portion for only $3.95! The drink menu has a wide variety of selection of anything you could think of! The prices are so good, no other restaurant compares. I recommenced this restaurant to anyone that likes good service, amazing food and awesome drinks! I give this Bar and Grill a five star rating!
We had dinner here on Friday night. You have to climb a steep flight of stairs to reach the restaurant. There was a somewhat musty odour as we entered the restaurant. The ambiance is decent. The room is somewhat dark. The service was very good. We shared the lobster bake as an appetizer. It was very good. It came in a ramekin that is generally used for escargot and had a lovely garlic butter on the bottom, a generous serving of lobster and a good topping of melted cheese. It was a very tasty dish. For entrees my husband had wiener schnitzel with barbecued spareribs. The schnitzel was crispy but nice and moist inside the spareribs were tender and not dry. The boneless spareribs were basted with a lovely barbecue sauce. I had the schnitzel cordon bleu and it had a very generous amount of cheese and ham on the schnitzel. Dinners come with goulash soup and garlic bread and entrees are served with pan fried potatoes and red cabbage.
Wine prices are very reasonable. We had a ½ lt of wine for $13.00. The meal was good value for the money and the food was well prepared.
The good news is that the food at Lou's Grill is good, comes hot to the table and in generous portions.
The bad news is that the headbanging music made conversation at a table for two near impossible. Mind you the tables were so close we couldn't even hear our neighbours conversation!
The second piece of bad news was that if you shut your eyes and suddenly opened them looking at the 'pass' or bar you thought you had been transformed to a peeler bar.
The fourteen scantily clad servers wore tiny bootie shorts, push up bra style tops and tank tops all which exposed far too much leg, midriff and cleavage. The 'dress code' needs to be dialed back to an acceptable level.
We went to Mr. India with high expectations on their food. We had went once before and got pretty good samosas. We went back with the intent to try their butter chicken which we had seen people raving about.
The first five minutes we spent waiting for someone to greet us and show us to one of their many empty booths (besides the one they had somehow neglected to clean up before we even got there. These old plates were seriously there until we were eating.)
We hastily ordered because he seemed apathetic and lazy, leaving a pitcher of tapwater and a couple empty cups on the table. Upon receiving our food we didn't see that guy at all between then and leaving.
The butter chicken itself seemed overrated. It didn't taste like butter chicken, the taste more closely resembled that of a can of Campbell's condensed tomato soup with some spices and weirdly perfect cubes of a soft meat I assumed was chicken. The rice was good, and the naan helped a little, but the butter chicken was not enjoyable in the slightest.
We didn't see a bill so we sat there awkwardly, sipping on water until we decided to go up to the counter to pay. It took so long for a single employee to emerge that thoughts of walking out seemed viable, but we stayed anyways to pay. The guy came out, juggling three separate orders while also trying to ring us in on the till. His hands were clearly bright orange, I assumed he was cooking but it didn't occur to me til later if he washed his hands between handling food and money since he seemed to be the primary guy at the cash.
We left, and the worst of our trip came about 20-30 minutes into our hour-long walk home. We suffered for worst food poisoning imaginable. It was a gastrointestinal nightmare and awful nausea and vomiting that almost put my girlfriend into emergency on a saline drip.
All in all, I won't be returning to Mr. India. The $40 we paid to have our digestive systems wrecked wasn't worth the trip.
If you are looking for a diner for breakfast or lunch with the character of decades past stop in at the Matsqui Cafe.
It has not been updated in years but plenty of seating in booths or large tables in a super clean environment.
Breakfast reminded me of Mom with buttery, light pancakes and French toast with sides of crisp bacon and chunky sausages.
Weekends can get busy but through the week there is always room for you!
So I stayed at a friend's place in Abbotsford, and was craving breakfast. I Googled "all day breakfast in Abbotsford", and this little café came up. We decided to come here. I had the basic breakfast is a usages, eggs, hash browns and toast, and my friend had the French toast with sausages. The food was DELICIOUS! My only critique would be for the server to not call their hash browns "shredded" as opposed to diced! It was still a very satisfying dish and I'll be back for sure!!! They close at 3pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Though I live almost 2 hours away, I'd still drive out here to have this great food and service!!!! DDD needs to check this out!
My boyfriend and I came in to dine at Lou’s Grill last week. We had heard high praises of the food and service here and decided to come check it out. It was a Sunday and the place was much busier than we expected for a Sunday evening. We were greeted by the friendly hostesses and sat very quickly. One of the girls brought over a candle to our table and the lights were dimmed slightly, which was a really nice touch. This place is not like your average sports bar. It’s classy, inviting, and the service and food make it a great place to go for any occasion. Our server was fantastic, very friendly and quick to take our orders and bring us our bill. There is a huge selection for drinks as well as food. My boyfriend had the bacon avocado burger and said it was the BEST burger he has EVER had! Now that is a bold statement, especially coming from such a food lover! The toppings were plentiful and all very fresh, and the yam fries were nice and crispy. You can see, smell, and taste the quality and the portions are huge. Overall, we had an awesome experience at Lou’s Grill and would highly recommend it to anyone!
I was at a burger and brew fund raiser at your establishment tonight and found that not only don't you carry any descent craft beers other than Fat Tug (Driftwood Brewery RULES) but you were out of the only good beer you sell. The food I was served was tasteless and cold and the servers were disinterested and absent. This was my first experience with your establishment and trust me when I say I and the party of 11 I was with will never step foot and waste any of our money there again. Look for our reviews on Facebook Twitter and Yelp. We live in an area where craft beer is some of the best in the province and you do your self and our fine craft brewers a disservice by selling only bud and Canadian. Townhall puts your little lemonade stand to shame.
I often go to Lou’s Grill when I am looking to go out for a dining experience in Abbotsford, or for a few drinks with friends. I found out about Lou’s when I first moved out to the valley 8 years ago. I immediately made Lou’s my regular spot to go out to with friends. I have several friends that live outside of Abbotsford that request that we visit Lou’s when they come out to see me. The winning points for Lou’s are as follows: Large menu selection, awesome burgers, the best and biggest nachos I have had in Abbotsford, really good calamari – never oily, and the spinach and artichoke dip is probably my favourite appy on the menu. Not to mention Lou’s spuds – simply one of my favourite sides ever. The service is always prompt at Lou’s. When they are busy, they are super busy… but the food still comes fast and hot. The waitresses are always very friendly and come to check on you at the appropriate times. Lou’s drink menu has an awesome selection and different specials for each night – my favourite being the Long Island Iced Tea pitcher to share with friends. I like Lou’s Grill the best in the summertime when you can sit on the patio and enjoy the Fraser Valley weather. I have yet to have a negative experience at Lou’s and will continue to go there for years to come! Keep it up Lou’s Staff!
Had lunch there today. The place was not busy and after having our meal knew why.
The beef dip sandwich was disgusting. The meat was like 'chipped' beef (yes, do a Google) on half a hotdog bun. Without the dipping jus it wouldn't have been able to be swallowed.
Take a pass on this place for any meal.
When I walked into Lou's, I was helped within a minute of stepping through the door. My fiancé and I sat out on the deck. It was such a nice day and we just couldn't help but what to be outside. I started by ordering a bellini and oh my goodness, bellinis have always been my favourite go to drink. It was nothing shy of yummy! It tasted exactly how it should. I even made my fiancé take a sip! He had a stella, I personally don't like beer, but he knows his beer and said it hit the spot after working an extra long day. We decided to grab some nachos, because well.. who doesn't LOVE nachos? I think it was called the Lou's Spud. It was perfect, except that it had green onions and I usually like them but in this case all if did was pick them off. One thing that was really good about the service, besides the food, was that the hostess actually came and checked in on us. I cant even tell you how many places I have been where I haven't been checked in on simple because I look younger then I am. Honestly, I would recommend Lou's Grill to my friends, but more importantly I would recommend Lou's Grill to my family and that says a lot. I can't wait to go back again!
My mother and I ate dinner at Lou’s for the first time a few days ago. I was impressed right away because even though it was busy we got seated quite quickly. Before we had even ordered our food we had had the person who sat us, our server and a hostess come over and make sure we had our drinks topped up and to see how we were doing. Every where we went, I felt like we were important customers. The staff all smiled as you passed them and opened doors and if we were both walking in a direction, they would stop and let us go instead of trying to squeeze through. None of the staff looked like they didn't want to be at work, they all seemed happy.
My mother and I are both extremely picky eaters. I'm a vegetarian and I’m just picky all around! I ordered the fish tacos and truffle parmesan fries with peppercorn sauce, and my mom ordered a chicken quesadilla. Our food was quick and my mom commented on how she liked how thick and full her quesadilla was. She especially enjoyed the large whole mushrooms and loads of fillings. My fish tacos were great! I wasn't huge on the fries and I didn't like the peppercorn sauce but I decided to try a different sauce with the fries because I know I'm a picky eater. After that, I polity told the server I just didn't like the fries and thought that having a different sauce would make me like them more. She said that there was no worries and she appreciated my honesty. She also said she would figure something out with the manager and asked if I wanted anything else. I then ordered some yam fries which were fantastic! I was relieved and felt good about her response. I always feel bad if I send food back because I don't like to cause a problem but the server was so great and understanding about it.
My mom had commented on the detailing in the building. We both thought the car above the round chairs was very cool! I really liked how it was warm inside and I didn't need to keep my sweater on. By the end of our dinner we had 5 different servers do something for us. I honestly felt I was a valued customer; two people brought us our food and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. Our server even took the truffle fries off our bill. I had a great dinner with my mom.
I have been to Lou's Bar & Grill plenty of times and I can honestly say I will always be coming back. Just driving up to the location makes you feel that its more secluded but once you get inside you feel like you are not just eating somewhere, you feel like you're apart of a family. The colours and lighting get you ready to really relax and enjoy yourself. The music is never too loud and all staff and customers are super respectful.
This is all great and always makes me excited to enjoy the great food as well. I always tell people that if they want good calamari " Lou's is the place" . Not to mention all the other items on their menu. Also, all the different choices on the menu for such great prices helps you not to think twice to spend a little more.
I will always remember my first drink at Lou's Bar & grill. My drink was so fresh and so colourful, everything I ever wanted for my first drink. You can definitely tell they use fresh ingredients and that the bartender is on the ball.
Last but not least, The service. I never have to wait longer then a few seconds to be seated which is great when you just got off work and want to just eat and relax. The staff are always so friendly and dressed really well. They got my drinks in no time and my food. The food came out quickly and was still hot ! the waitress also asked me plenty of questions and informed me of all deals ! and was quick to get my bill and let me pay !
I went to Lou’s Bar and Grill for lunch with my mother on my birthday. It had not been a good day so far; however, I was excited to eat. When I walked into the room I was met by a sudden burst of warmth, and then greeted by a welcoming hostess. As she walked me through the restaurant to my table, I couldn’t help but let my eyes wander to the delectable plates around me. By the time I reached my table my mouth was watering. As my mother and I mulled over our choices I allowed my eyes to sweep over the room. The dim lights and handsome furniture gave the room a cozy, yet elegant, atmosphere. Our order was taken immediately after we had decided what meals we would be getting. Since I hadn’t been feeling well over the past few days, I decided to go with a simple choice- a caesar salad and an iced tea. We didn’t wait long for our food and when it came out everything looked delicious. Although I was quite sad I was not able to try my mom’s sandwich, which was making my mouth water, my salad was delicious, with crisp lettuce, tasty dressing, and crunchy croutons. Not only was the food lovely, the service was extremely impressive. Throughout our meal we were asked several times if we needed anything else and how our meal tasted. Overall, I had a truly enjoyable meal and it helped to brighten my birthday.
I recently visited Lou's Bar And Grill the other evening for a birthday party. As I walked in the front doors of the establishment I was given a warm welcome from the front door hostess. She walked me to the table and went over the daily specials with me and handed me a menu. In the next couple minutes my server came over and welcomed me. Throughout the night I was taken care of in a great manner. I always had a drink that was full beside me, I didn't wait too long for my appetizer or my main course meal. The quality of food was fresh, hot and delicious. My drink of the night was the strawberry milkshake martini, appetizer was nachos with Cajun chicken, and then for my main course I finished with a fettuccine Alfredo. YUM!!! Everything was perfect. My server always approached the table with a smile on her face and was patient taking our order being a larger table. The ambiance of the restaurant was very relaxing and comfortable. The staff were very warm and upbeat. The lighting was very soft and gave off a very soothing feeling. Whenever I come and visit Lou's Bar And Grill it is always such a great experience.
I came into Lou's the other day for breakfast with my family. They go about every Saturday to either catch up with friends or family over breakfast, and I can't think of a better place to do so. The atmosphere is so welcoming, it would be easy to sit there for hours with delicious drinks (my favorite being the kronenbourg cocktail) and some amazing comfort food....you must try the nachos! Chelsey was our server and not only was she on point...she was entertaining! Lou's definitely has a great team working there and they each bring in something different and positive. If you're looking for a place with awesome food/drink, spectacular service and a warm and welcoming atmosphere....Lou's Grill is the place to be!
When you first walk into Lou’s you are greeted by a friendly face who will guide you to your seat in the restaurant.
The drink specials, there is always something good to try. I prefer having a raspberry mojito as it comes in a cute mason jar.
Lou’s always has great food, wether your having a burger and fries or your looking for a steak and lobster tail. Absolutely delicious! and everything is HUGE.
Service is always generally fast expect when its busy but you can understand that things can take a little bit longer to be done because they are making sure its done right and that means quality.
Over all my visits to Lou’s has been nothing but great and I highly recommend coming here if your in the mood for casual drinks or an enormous dinner to fill that empty spot in your stomach :)
What an amazing food. I went for a dinner with my husband and asked for a taco salad. The portions are amazing so does the taste. There is soo many different kind of drinks to choose from and they are all so delicious. The service was also amazing very good waitress as well as hard workers and friendly. recommended to my friends and they love it there also. Can't wait to go back!!
