This was not a good choice for Chinese food. Okay the place looked neat and clean, but as for the food forget it. I was not impressed at all, on a 1-10 scale (10 being the best) I rate it 2.5 - 3.
We ordered Spring egg rolls, they were fine but the sauce was a rather odd yellowish colour and there was only a scant amount in the serving dish for 2 of us to share.
The Honey garlic chicken wings were the biggest wings I've ever seen, really did they come from super-sized chickens or chickens on steroids? They were marginally passable, deep fried with some sort of bottled sauce poured over top.
The pan fried rice noodles with beef in black bean sauce was not at all to our liking, the noodles were over-cooked, cut into little pieces and were soggy. The beef was okay but not very flavourful.
Breaded boneless chicken with tangy lemon sauce, well the amount of chicken under the thick breading was miniscule, and I doubt any real lemons were invloved in the preparation of the bland sauce.
Cashew nut sauteed diced vegetables - okay the veggies & the cashews were crispy but the sauce was tasteless and the mushrooms were too large to eat in 1 bite.
Pineapple sweet & sour boneless pork: Tough meat, over cooked and the sauce was thin and vinegary, I did not like the taste at all. One of the worst sweet & sour sauces I've ever tasted.
When the server asked how we liked the food and we were honest, I could tell she was offended, but really!
Well, if you ask a question and are not prepared for the answer maybe customer service is not the best job for you. She quickly turned and walked away rudely, we stated the food was not to the standard of our usual/favourite place and she made a snide remark also. The other servers were not so rude, just one.
So this is not the place to go if you want good Chinese food in Abbotsford.
My fiance and I decided to try Dragon Fort as we'd read it had been voted number one Chinese food in Abbotsford for a number of years in a row, after the experience we endured we can't even begin to imagine why! We walked in, the building is quite neat (resembles a fort - one plus I suppose) interior design was quite typical of most Chinese food restaurants. We were offered a table in the nearly empty restaurant. It took quite sometime for our server to approach us, when she eventually did we hardly got two words out of her, she mumbled (quite literally, and barely audible) "what do you want to drink?" We ordered wine and two waters, she didn't say a word just walked away, returned about 10 minutes later with our beverages, plunked them down and stood at our table side staring at us not saying a word, we took this as an odd cue to place our order, we did so. We waited roughly 35 minutes (in this time I realized there was some odd jelly like, floating thing in my water glass) for our dishes to "begin" to come out. My fiance recieved his meal, then about 10 minutes later I recieved the "appetizer" I'd ordered (the strangest "spring roll" I've ever come across, it was almost the size of a 4x6 photograph, and contained some sort of seafood.....awful) I then recieved the noodle dish I'd ordered, and about 10 minutes later got the vegetable dish I'd ordered. By this time my fiance was long finished his meal, and I was so put off and well, disgusted by the terrible food and service, we got up, left the food on the table, paid our bill and got out of there! Maybe we caught the restaurant on an "off" night, but yikes!
well the actual restaurant, is recently renovated. but it's a cheap building with 20 year old plates and glasses. the food is great, i've been eating here for over 10 years and been to chinese restaurants all over canada and us and this is by far my favorite. don't like to eat there though, service isn't great, they make you feel llike your annoying them... but the food well makes up for this.
Ate dinner here with friends we were celebrating my friends Birthday and found that if you have special needs they are not very helpful or flexible especially at dinner time, I found that the manager does not care about any issues you might have with the food or service. The curly red haired waitress that works there has an attitude problem and was a very uncaring attitude.
